I’m about to go to my first market ever and try to sell some of my crocheted items. This video was very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Also I subscribe to your channel.❤❤❤❤
I have seen other crocheters that have never sold a Mabel chicken in their area. I hope the next market you sell your lisf cats - the ones you showed are adorable. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡
Thank you so much for your comment. It was odd because I’ve sold them before and previous markets. But every market is different! Glad I’m not the only only who went a while market without selling one!
Wow....definitely provide feedback to the planners.....(3) does seem like a lot for such a small number of vendors and next to one another is not cool....but definitely a lesson learned....thanks so much for sharing your experience!
I don't personally sell my crochet(yet) but as a consumer, your table was waaayy overcrowded. I'm not sure how you would go about dealing with that with the variety of plushies you do. That being said, I think you do quality work! They all look great and your product choice I think would be popular, especially if you didn't have a nearly identical shop across from yours. I really think aside from your personal marketing, the market organizers did you dirty!
@@AMCneko thank you for all your feedback!! I really appreciate it. I usually have a 10x10 space and so I think when I only have a table space I just need to cut back on what I bring and just make more of the smaller items and restock.
Good video. Very informative and I enjoyed seeing all of your work. You are very talented! Don’t give up and stay being positive people look for something positive and entertaining these days. I wonder if there’s a pattern for Disney’s Goofy. I collect Goofy stuff….but I don’t crochet the cool things you make, I’ve only started crocheting a few months ago and doing blankets, beanies and bags so far. Keep up the good work, be patient and you WILL grow, just don’t give up 😊
Sorry to hear your market didn’t go so well. It looks like you do such a nice job with your work. Can you share where you got the stitch and mini patterns? Thanks so much. How much do you sell your pop tarts for at market? They are adorable.
I don't really crochet like you do though I did learn when I was about 12. That is about 50 years ago. I'm just fascinated by people going to those markets. I always hope that people do well.
The base pattern probably takes hour or so but then all the extras like long hair, mods to clothing etc takes longer. I’ve priced them at $35-40 but haven’t sold any.
Offering a small free-be to people as they pass by gets people to stop. I talk to people about whatever I can to get them to stay because the more people stay, the more other people want to see what you have going on. I usually sell paintings I have done. I have never done a crochet market, but I want to try it sometime.
Hi Tami. New to your channel and of course I was happy to subscribe to a fellow crochet TH-camr! I think your set up was very nice and your work is awesome too! Believe me I’ve had my share of flop markets. I actually sell more online at times. I have an order for 2 Stitch characters. I’m a little concerned about making the eyes. May I ask what pattern you used for the larger one I saw in your practice set up? It’s early in the season, markets will get busier in October! 🦋💖🦋💖
Thank you so much for your sweet comment!! I’ll check out your channel!! I’ll look up where I got the svg for the eyes, but then used my Cricut to cut them out. I’ll update the links in the description.
May I ask you what you use to store your patterns? I'm trying to reduce the amount of paper cluttering up my crochet nook in my tiny apartment. Thank you.
When I first started crocheting I used print them out and now they’re all in a big pile. I recently started just using my iPad to look at the pdfs so I don’t have to print them.
My first market i got there super early and was half set up, when they put another crochet vendor right next to me. She asked to move and later they put another crochet vendor next to her. Thankful all three of us had different stuff so it was alright but yeah they dont think about it
Crocheted plushies is a trend, and I feel you should offer more variety. You mentioned scrunchies, how about bandanas, bandanas for pets, hats, baskets, bags etc. How about buy one get something free, or a 2 for $20 selection? Christmas gift items, stocking stuffers, water bottle covers? The more types of items you offer, the more people may be interested. 😊
I have started to make some other things like the coffee cozy’s in the video and in the past I’ve also crocheted some hanging plants that have done well. Relatively new to crocheting (just started in Dec 2022) and just love making the plushies!
Just came across your channel and I’m a fellow Arizonan and crocheter. 🤗 I think the loaf cats are really over saturated at markets. I’m a vendor too and every crocheter has them. I’ve stopped making them because of that. Bees are everywhere and Mabel chickens.
@@craftymompreneur I’m in the west valley. I know which indoor event you’re talking about. I met the organizer at an event that I did. She wanted me to do her market but I’ve found that summer indoor markets don’t do well unless they are already very well established. She’s super sweet but I do feel organizers need to do better when jurying vendors. If the foot traffic is there, it’s fine to have a few but with low foot traffic, it really hurts everyone.
I have a friend that got into a whole lot of trouble selling trademarked products! I would think over what you're selling in a public place. my understanding is you're allowed to make trademarked products but you're not allowed to sell them. You're only allowed to give them away.
Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it and am considering other options. Planning to add the Stitch I made to a a gift basket for charity fundraiser.
I was interested in doing holiday corchet market, and I noticed that so many people want to do this. I went to ask my city's market organization company's staff if they have the same vendor apply, will they tell us. They said it's good to have the same vendor. so I decided to not do this XD
in this video you have Disney look a like plushies. People have gotten letters, their shop/market closed down and heavily fined. Disney went after a school off all things and fined them heavily for not having a copy of the movie for each student that was watching the movie and didn’t get written permission from Disney. When Grogu came out Disney went after the crocheters and the people who sold patterns for this character. My friend was lucky she got a warning….she was selling Disney print doll clothes in her shop and advertising them on her instagram. Disney and Nintendo too now have a department allocated just for this. I worked for Redbox dvd rentals. Disney sued Redbox because they were getting money from the rentals of a single dvd and Disney wasn’t getting any money accept from the original movie purchase. Disney threatened stores that sold more than 5 copies of the same movie to one person …..Disney will come after the crocheters on TH-cam. They have gone after shops on Etsy. This was to be only a friendly warning.
Totally understand and have gotten a couple comments like yours and taken them to heart. This video was a market last month. New market video went up today. It's crazy because the patterns I've used are ones being sold on Etsy and have been since I started crocheting a couple years ago.
I wonder if the newness of plushies is wearing off snd with the other girl with the same products was just too much. Your work is really good but maybe offering items with different threads and needle size might help Something different
This sucks! I have been crocheting for 25 years and well I love the craft growing this is such a downfall to this craft going through a boom. I want to support my local school who hosts a great craft fair so I want to support it. With that being said the coordinator does not take down what craft you are bringing and has us pick our own booth location. We get a map with the booths that have been taken with just the crafters personal name on it (nothing about the craft)This is going to be no bad 😢 and it is an $85 booth fee
