    I love this little teardrop and your adventurous spirit! My husband and I had a 24 foot Lazy Days RV that we used for 10 years and though we had many good memories in it, I hated to upkeep, expense, and lack of versatility. Last year, we converted our 6 x 10 box trailer into a camper and couldn't be happier! It weighs less than 1,200 pounds and it's custom made for our needs which means simplicity with adventure! I say go small in the little things and big with what matters and live a life that makes you happy and not others! Nice video!😊

    Vistabule might not be the only one out there, but it is the one to beat. The video you shared of the visit to the factory... and the video on how they are built and video with Bert Taylor, the man behind it... outstanding build methodology... their ability to replicate all panels with CNC precision... very impressed... a modern woodwork art form... So yes, many out there, but Vistabule, in my book at least, are the best you can find.
    Thank you for sharing the logic behind your decision to go with a teardrop. I laughed when you mentioned bugs and leaving the place, because I remember your Canada video... a must see that I shared with friends.
    Thank you for the video. Always looking forward to the next.

      I agree once we put aside status and marketing pressure - the core of life is simple and the joy is in the simplicity and nature. I simply love the joy of teardrop trailer camping. The rain and bugs are part of that joy.. This is hard for some to understand - however the people I get along with best understand this simple principal. Enjoy! =Regards Cosmo

    Great video Cosmo I agree with everything you say. The only other option to me is an aliner which is lightweight but gives you more Headroom. You can always add a screened-in room for your living space to get away from Bugs if you need to. Why take your home camping when the point of camping is being outdoors.

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ha ha ha. Yes Outdoors is for outdoors. No TV in my rig! Aliners are great. I looked at then entire line and sat in them many times while deciding. RVs are wonderful. There are so many makes and models we can all get exactly what we need. When its buggy or miserable outside I remind myself this was my choice and I enjoy the adversity as much as the fine times. A lot of people living in vans will say "you live out of your van not in it". But I wanted to at least be able to boil water inside my minivan. It's DAMN tight but I will make it work. I like the idea of still being able to kind of cook regardless of rain. And with lids on pots I should be able to do that. Over here JUST in my state we can have a 6X4 trailer with short sides (like a pickup truck style) with no registration at all and not even DMV paperwork. Just make a rubbish copy of your vehicle tags and hook it on. So if I had something like this, I would have some foldout/slideout thing on a 6X4 trailer.

    A very narrow weather dependent of a usable trailer. A summer trailer.
    I NEED a bathroom. Period. Won't be slogging it in the downpour of rain or snow.
    Need screens on those doors too. Maybe they come with it? Don't know enough about them. Looks well built though for what it is. Riveted. Yeah I have a riveted trailer. 😎

    It was interesting to listen to your rational discussion for as long as it went. Like many of your videos, I was left wanting more. You are so right about your great collection of videos already made showing your sweet little Vistabule. I have so enjoyed them. I even purchased, on your advice, the Clam, screen room, nice to have here in buggy Killeen, Texas. To me, one of you most interesting points was that you like living “out” of your teardrop. While RV folks live “inside” their RVs. A second point was that, “this is not home.” Right, right, you can zip in and out of places a bigger RV can’t even consider. You can go on adventures to live with nature, not cooped up away, inside the make believe home. I watched your trip around the Great Lake, many camping places unavailable to an RV. Thanks for the discussion. Texas

    Beautiful teardrop, but 1500 pounds is my towing limit for total weight I can tow. Plus I wanted heat & AC. Went with SunRay 109 1080 pounds & $8000 new. And Cecil, my recumbent trike goes in my Honda Element tow vehicle!

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My Vistabule is heavier than the current version. I have a tongue box and more. That is road weight fully packed and with water tank and propane tank full. Current versions have a 150 pound tongue weight. I like trikes and recumbent bikes. I am just loaded up with too many 2 wheel bikes now to fit anything else in the toy chest. Element is a great adventure vehicle. I love all teardrops. My videos are about teardrop camping for the most part. Hopefully not much Vistabule specific stuff (other than to show off now and then). For seniors, FOLDING RECUMBENT TRIKES are fast becoming the rage. Teardrop trailers are great, but they don't allow room for storing them that well.
    I guess you could put them in the side during transit or in the back of the SUV.
    Check out the Catrike Dumont, the HP Velotechnik Scorpion FS, the Greenspeed Magnum XL, or the AZUB Ti-Fly to start.
    A Catrike Dumont could fit in the back of your vehicle easy enough I guess.

    I did look at these trailers but I came to the conclusion that I don't want to tow anything. It would just be too much of a hassle for me. If I did tow, it would likely be a greenhouse on wheels so I can continue to grow tomatoes and peppers for my homemade salsa. Lol.

      The Runaway ROUSER is 6 X 8 with a 6 ft. interior height.
      That facilitates putting a rear cargo/bike rack on the back.
      In Canada, they have those KOMO plastic rear storage containers.
      A teardrop shape prevents you from putting anything like that in the rear though.

    Hi. I just found your video and liked it, saw two more, then subscribed. Great videos for someone who is unsure about these little trailers. Got some questions, if you could have time, like 1) using the kitchen, since it is outside, have you ever had a scare with wildlife when you have been cooking? I think that is one of my concerns, 2) how long your food lasts when you do boon docking? like, how much you can bring, like for 2 weeks or so? since it is so small 3) how easy it is to go off road with it?, and lastly, 4) how do you feel about if there is any kind of threat when you are inside the trailer, and you cannot go to your vehicle and leave ? I heard a lot of people that talk about this when getting a trailer vs a van, or rv or minivan. In those three you just can start it and leave, but not in a trailer. I am debating between a tear drop or a mini van, in the mini van I would like to avoid the conversion and in the tear drop trailer the main concern is the security issue in question #4. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi EL
      I have been camping my entire life and trailer boondocking for 5+ years. Never had a problem with wildlife even in Black bear country. We don’t have Brown bear and Grizzly bear here. But they are a different story. They run the show. I would not be grilling a salmon or steak outside in Griz or Brown country. I have had gear I left out chewed on my small critters. But it was my fault.
      The fridge can be set to freeze or refrigerate. I have been out boondocking for 20 days. I used mixed fresh/frozen and no spoil packaged food. You are only limited by your imagination. Food that does not have to be kept cold stays in the car.
      Off road is easy of you pick the road carefully. I walk many roads before I drive them to make sure I wont have a problem. Since I am often traveling alone I don’t have a spotter which means I have to get out and look I am not about to wreck the car. So far no issues. But you have to be open to telling yourself I cant make it down this road. That’s not an issue - there are plenty more to explore. I carry some self-rescue stuff too like traction mats.
      I agree there is psychological comfort in being able to jump into the drivers seat. Unless the intruder has blocked your way… Let me put it this way. There are 16,000 human on human murders in the USA a year. 99.999% of those take place in heavily populated areas. In contrast there is less than one Black bear/human attack a year. I feel much safer boondocking than on a bus. The most dangerous parts of my trip statistically is the drive to the campsite!
      Keep researching your on the right track. I did my videos to help people get started no mater what vehicle they choose. I did not want another motor vehicle. So in my case the trailer makes lots of sense for me. Its minimal maintenance and it meets my primary objective - it gets me outdoors!
      Thanks for watching =Cosmo

    Nice review. I have a question about your clam shelter. Teardrop camping you spend more time outside. I was looking at some type of easy to set up shelter like the clam. But looking at some reviews a lot of people talk about them leaking even when they have the storm screens in place. Have you had an issue with it leaking? Thanks

    • @CosmoWeems
      @CosmoWeems  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a new MSR Huba Huba... It leaks. I had to seal the seams . My clams have not leakes. But I I am thinking I may seal the seams since I use it so much. I think its a good idea to seal the roof seams on any tent including the Clams. Having said that - I am typing this post from my Sky Clam at a boondocking site in Pennsylvania Clam is great! Thanks for watching. =Cosmo

    Great video, you offer a lot for one to consider. Where do you store your clothes? And where do you change your clothes? It would seem easy to change your clothes when you have the bed in sofa mode. But I’m guess you actually have to leave the trailer to change from bed to sofa and back again. I’m looking to get a trailer, and love the yours. But I’m considering a larger one (Tab 400) because I don’t see where you can store your clothing, and I rather not change my clothes outside.

    Hey there. Enjoy your vids. Still mulling over teardrops. One thing I haven’t seen you go over and would love for you to is pro and con of fiberglass vs sticks. I see bean from Utah has one out there. I really like the vistabule setup but wondering if fiberglass for less rot issues trumps my aesthetic and functional preference.
    Any guidance from the teardrop sage?

    • @CosmoWeems

      Ha ha ha the only sage you will get from me is from the spice rack! I dont think it matters if the rig is fiberglass or even the brand for that matter. I love my trailer. But thats because it has the features I wanted. A Hiker Camper trailer starts at about $4K. If the trailer can fit you and your stuff and is well ventilated You can add lighing, battery etc easily. For the prices they want for most of them? Hell No!
    A tow trailer, some plywood, a few accessories total chost $3,000.
    Retail price $16,000.
    For $16k I would buy a used Jeep or pickup for $10k and spend $2,000 on a tent and other camp gear and keep $4k in my pocket.

      MrKlarans - Yes, I can understand. But other tent covers can enlarge the kitchen area keeping stuff dry. Unless gust of wind become problematic.
      I’d say thats sandwich making time there... Or Mic Dees! 🤗

      Hello. There are many lower priced trailers. You can purchase a Hiker Camper small trailer for as little as $4000. I hope this helps. Cost and value are unrelated. Thank You for watching. Check my other videos th-cam.com/users/cosmoweemsvideos
