Ahh yes, welcome to Changmin! Lol. He is a member of TVXQ (second gen group under SM) and has been in the industry for 20+ years; this is what you get from an experienced idol! If you want to check out more from him, I recommend "Fever" (no official MV for fever, just a 'Stage Video') and "Chocolate".
Changmin/Max is a member of the group/duo TVXQ. He has been nicknamed Bambi by his fans and he has taken it on as a sort of spirit animal that represents him, so I think the deer in his "Devil" MV is supposed to symbolize him. If you read the lyrics, the song is about having self-doubts and bad thoughts and harboring those feelings within your heart. So, in the end the deer (himself) becomes like the Devil because he has now embraced those feelings. During U-Know's and his reaction video to the MV, Changmin said the forest you see him in is a real forest and they had to take a boat to get there. They used drones with lights on them to light the area to give it that spooky effect. If you want to see how this MV was filmed, check out his behind the scenes filming video, "'Devil' MV Behind l MAX CHANGMIN 최강창민." And although "Devil" is a remake of a song by Alex Runo, Changmin wrote his own lyrics for the song and gave it a different storyline than the original version. "Devil" is the title track off his second solo mini album Devil. If you haven't yet, check out his pre-release "Fever" stage video that was part of SM's New Year's Eve SMTown SMCU Express concert in 2021-22 and "Maniac" promotional video, which are also songs on this album. Notice how SM used "Devil" to draw Changmin/TVXQ into its SM Culture Universe with the reference to Kwanyga in the lyrics and the pink planet you see in the MV, etc. I guess as Rising Gods of the East, it makes sense that TVXQ could be otherworldly beings just like the rest of SM's groups and artists, in order to connect their storyline to the rest of SM's Universe story. As you heard, Changmin is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- all SM powerhouse vocalists), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him. Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5-member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until a year or so ago, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less-than-ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. Therefore, the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas will be TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 20th anniversary and, even now as a duo, they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red -- which is why you see one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you watch a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it is no surprise that the members of TVXQ are outstanding vocalists. Being some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry is what we have come to expect from all of SM's artists and groups. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 35 and U-know is 37. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reasons why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. Fun fact: Changmin married in 2020 and he became a father to a boy last year. Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.
Max Changmin is incredible! You can't go wrong with listening/watching other songs by him and his group, TVXQ. An older but must see by TVXQ is "Mirotic". Suggestion: Another video that came out about the same time as this one by another artist, Jackson Wang, "Blow" left me with the same reaction as "Devil" did. WoW!
yeesss devil is such an amazing song! Max Changmin is a member of TVXQ who are coming up on their 20th anniversary as a group. (used to be 5 members but 3 of em left forever ago so they've been a duo for many years now). If you want some more max changmin videos I highly recommend Maniac , Chocolate, and Fever! p.s. with Maniac is says "promotional video" but it's the entire song so it's basically just a music video haha
Devil was my no. 2 song of the year for 2022. Actually it was no.1 all the way until the end of October. Then Ten released Birthday and knocked it down to no. 2.

Best 2022 release for me.
