Thanks for reacting to these MV's!! As someone new to K-pop last year, I wasn't familiar with any of these tracks. There can be no doubt that they're both very talented and handsome. Love the dance skills too. I think they did great in all these releases, however I just felt that the song production was missing something(s). I did like the artists themselves and certain elements of each song. U-know definitely needs to do some action / crime dramas or movies, I can picture Changmin fitting right in too, especially as a CEO or businessman. I know just a little about Changmin & U-know, such as TVXQ's history, Changmin as an MC, and them both through their 2023 20&2 releases Down & Rebel, MAMA performance and their song Mirotic. I'm interested in their future solo and team comeback's and hopefully I'll be able gradually to check out their past discography.

Yes, I'm a warrior. Fight me! 😉 Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which intentionally sounds very differently. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end). There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection. While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same. Please note that this is just my interpretation. Art can be interpreted in different ways, and other opinions are just as valid as mine. There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and leading to justice. Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years. I can't help it, I deeply respect these ladies and their whole team.

The three members that left TVXQ, Junsu, Yoochum, and JaeJoong, formed a group called JYJ, and left because of a contract dispute with SM. They sued SM over what is now termed as a “slave contract”. This suit drew the attention of the government, who started looking into how SM and other groups were contracting and treating their trainees. This resulted in laws being changed, which benefited all K-pop artists in the future, making contracts shorter, payment, more fair, and treatment towards trainees more ethical, SM lost the lawsuit and did not take it well. They were supposed to leave JYJ alone to pursue their career, but they refused to do this, and had them blacklisted for many years and tried to destroy JYJ’s careers. JYJ survived because of the fans that followed them, and also branched out to do other work, such as starring in K dramas, until the bans were lifted. Unfortunately, a few years ago. Yoochum was involved in a scandal involving drugs, and quit JYJ. Junsu and JaeJoong Still have very strong careers, and are planning to do a 20th anniversary concert together in November of this year. Both are now also CEOs of their own companies, and JaeJoong is considered to be the richest K-pop idol in Asia.

it's so nice to finally see you back reacting to day6. This year have been truly such a blessing for day6 and mydays as their popularity really is just on another level now on Korea. With them getting invited to shows left and right it's hard to catch up but we love it. They deserve the success they're getting so much and I know this isn't even their peak yet.

TVXQ's "Down" is their pre-release track and "Rebel" is their lead from their 9th full-length Korean album, 20&2 -- 20 years and still 2 members strong -- which is a celebration of their 20th anniversary on Dec. 26. (That's why "Rebel" samples the Christmas song "Carol of the Bells," because it's a homage to their Christmastime debut.) If you think this MV was good, you should check out their 2023 MAMA performance where they showcased "Down" even before the MV was released. You'll be able to hear Changmin hit those high notes live. They also had an epic collaboration stage with SM's newest boy group RIIZE, where they performed TVXQ's iconic song "Rising Sun." You also need to see them perform "Rebel" with the choreography live. You think it looks crazy in the MV, but they actually do most of that all live as well, including U-Know's deep vocal fry. And yes, their "Rebel" dance practice is a must. And you definitely need to check out their Killing Voice performance. Killing Voice was pretty much made for SM vocalists and Changmin and U-Know are one of the best examples of that. TVXQ's "Mirotic," which came out in 2008, is a classic in the Kpop industry and every new rookie group -- both boy groups and girl groups -- learn this song and choreography and almost every rookie has performed it on music programs, award shows, at showcases, etc. at least once in their career. This song, like SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong," Girls' Generation's "Gee" and Super Junior's "Sorry Sorry," etc. is pretty much compulsory for everyone in the entertainment industry to know and learn the song and dance to. "Mirotic" is a made up word that really has no meaning, but it is derived from a play on the word Miro + tic -- "Miro" (Milo) in Korean means Maze, but they thought the word sounded better if you added tic to the end of it, (it made it sound cooler, or something.) Think of it as the words mirror and errotic combined -- that's just how you pronounce the title. In the MV for "Mirotic" the woman is supposed to be a siren, like from Greek mythology, and she is tempting and trapping or luring the TVXQ members to her. Their minds are trapped like in a maze, etc. Like they say in the song "... I got you under my skin ..." But in the end you see how the members have broke free from her control. (Often in Greek mythology the siren, through her intoxicating love powers, lures guys to their deaths.) And in Korean the title I think could be translated to mean Spell or Magic Spell, because the woman has them "under her spell," etc. TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is pearl red -- which is why one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Therefore, if you look up the lyrics for "Mirotic" you will see the "red ocean" they are referencing has a double meaning -- The "red" ocean is what the siren is trying to capture the TVXQ member in and she is trying to use her powers to capture and control them (red is often used to represent a powerful force) and it's also referring to the "red ocean" of their fans. Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produced music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. They've been a duo for longer then they ever were a 5 member group. As you can see, even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted. Therefore, although they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 36 and U-Know is 38. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. As you heard, Changmin is known for his powerful high notes -- even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him. (Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020 and he became a father to a boy in 2022.) U-Know is known for his dancing and his passion for dancing and singing. He is also the rapper of the group. (U-Know truly loves what he does and doesn't hide it. He will tell you he is proud of his accomplishments and he is proud of his work. His off-the-charts passion and intensity is kind of a running joke within the industry. It's one of the things he is most known for.) Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, etc., they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. (Their fandom is named after the 5-starred constellation, Cassiopeia, because they originally were 5 members who were supposed to be gods who came from the stars.) If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. (In Japan their fans are called BigEast because Tohoshinki are Gods of the East and they have one of the largest fandoms.)
