So i have an idea for a book im writing...it doesnt include a death game but it will be expensive and was wondering for a realistic cost. So the family in the boon is loosely based off of mine. There are about 120-150 people (lets say 150 for easier math...and it never hurts over estimate) ranging from the two great grandparents to the great grand kids. They all live in the same house. A small portion of everyone's paychecks goes into a collective account for collective bills. The great grandfather wanting to teach them responsibility and have a work ethic etc. Has a variety of animals and crops and on enough land for self sufficiency...at least to cover basic nutrition at min. The collective bills are things like cars/maintenance/car (health) insurance, investing, helping their own through school on occasion (whether that be trade or university dont matter) or start a business. That sort of thing. So two versions: how much money would be needed if the great grandfather wanted to provide bare minimum for the project? And how how much if he wants to give his descendants a life of luxury. Forgot to add location lets say Continental usa.
Ummm, well the problem is that if you try to liquidate some of those assets you are going to tank the value. Net worth and discretionary cash/cash equivalents are very different and are not the same like how the end of the video would seem to imply, but yeah, given enough time it would be financially achievable for some. The biggest issue is of course the people (it always is). Chances of getting caught throughout the scope of setting up and maintaining the operation is what will determine how feasible it would be in reality
Except that there very well could be some really fd up stuff that people get away with without the public knowing or even with them knowing. Think of how prevalent it is for celebrities to get away with major drug use or other crimes.
