How about just the absolute worst calls? Forget about what game or series it was, who was playing, what happened or couldn't happen next, etc, etc, etc... Just the absolute worst calls. I think it would be fascinating to see the actual absolute worst of the worst. I understand that it's nearly impossible to come up with a list from a pool of at bats/pitches/plays so enormous, most of which are forgotten about by time. It would probably have to be crowdsourced, maybe? Just an idea

@@SamtheBravesFan it's both sides. You are explicitly told to not interfere with balls currently in play. Reaching out over the fence to catch the ball when the fielder has any chance to catch it is an automatic out. He shouldn't have reached for it, and blue shouldn't have called it a home run.
I remember watching that almost-perfect game. I felt bad for Galarraga and even Jim Joyce, one of the best umps back in the day. If only he had challenges back then.
Ok... so don't think I'm a crazy person here but.... I think that call was most likely correct! Another creator made an excellent breakdown of that play. I think it was foolish baseball. Either way that video is pretty legit and yall should check it out
It is Foolish Baseball. The video is titled "The worst call in MLB history may have been correct" Would be interested to hear you guys thoughts if yall watch it.
2012 NL Wild Card Game (Braves VS Cardinals): Right Field Umpire Sam Holbrook called an infield fly after Cardinals shortstop Pete Kozma ran away from the ball letting it drop (must have had miscommunication with another player about who was going to catch the ball). You know you've made a bad call when people are throwing things on the field...
He had it in his mind that he would call it no matter what developed because it was the situation to do so. That was extremely poor judgement and gave us one of the few times that Fredi Gonzalez (definitely an amicable guy) got PO'ed.
Sadly, I've heard of some of the worst.. most long before TV... one that literally cost a team the pennant from back in the pre-WWI era.. to think the worst calls are recent is nuts and foolish.. just watch old games from the 80's and earlier.. OMG.. thank God for the advent of Jim Evans umpire school to standardize things.. after that is when things started to get better.. the ques-tec helped with umpire strike zone..
I always say "why isn't Angel anywhere other than home plate" then you see him fuck up check swings at 1st and 3rd...well why not at 2nd? Oh you know he's going to fuck up the safe call at 2nd after a stolen base every single time too.
the aj thing is a bad play by the catcher, every catcher knows on balls toward the dirt you tag the runner, which happens every single game, heck watching the game, everyone in the room with me was yelling run because he didnt tag aj
@@rhyde I have been a Ranger fan my entire life. Since the Arlington Stadium days. I've lived and breathed baseball and specifically Rangers baseball. The booth combo of Josh Lewin and Tom Greive were my favorites and I have met Grieve on multiple occasions. As well as Busby. I was watching that specific game live. Tom Greive has never done play by play. He is a color commentator. It is 100% beyond any shadow of a doubt Steve Busby. Do me a favor just for shits and giggles. Listen to a Busby call. I'll try to find one but in the meantime maybe you can. If I do I'll link it. I'm telling you brother... it's Busby
His horrid calls seem to be bringing a giant negative spotlight to mlb. But negative attention is still attention, right? Folks are talking and debating about it. Perhaps, mlb is seeing this as an opportunity to spread interest in America’s Pasttime.
What are the worst umpire calls you remember?

I hate Jeter for many reasons, but that "home run" takes the cake. What a joke. I hope Jeffrey Meier is behind bars.

That was the cll that led to instant replay/challenges being instituted.
As a Tigers' fan, it still hurts. To his credit, Joyce owned it and handled it with total class.
Hello Robbie! Love your channel bro! Keep grinding!

Wilmer Flores check swing 2021 NLDS
The difference between Jim Joyce and Angel Hernandez boils down to lack of accountability and character
Those were all classic horrible calls. Nice
Anyone else see that all of these videos about terrible umpires feature the same few? It's time for MLB to clean itself up.
Jerry Meals missed out call at home in extras. McKenry made the out tag and Meals was too tired and wanted to go home so he called the runner safe
They can’t miss their bed time
That one isn't so cut and dry. I think Lugo got barely tagged on the pant leg, but Meals could have easily missed it at that angle.

Why does everything benefit the Yankees 😂

Yes I noticed that too! 😏
Nicde list - good video. But the player for the roaylas was called George Orta (even though it was spelled Jorge).

Three egregious calls that help the Yankess. None that hurt them. Pretty good historical representation.

Definitely a good point!
That wasn't Tom Grieve on the Joe Nathan call.... it was Steve Busby
It was definitely Grieve. Listened to separate videos of Grieve talking and it’s definitely his voice.

I swear in another video Grieve sounded like he had the higher pitched voice. I’ve been bamboozled.
