Leavitt Lake is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.983m (9,786ft) above the sea level, located in Mono County, in the east central portion of the U.S. state of California. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of California.
Located on the eastern crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, the road to the lake is unpaved. It’s called Leavitt Lake Road (Forest Service Road 077). Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. It has a well-deserved reputation for being dangerous because of unpredictable snowstorms and blizzards, and driving under these conditions, can be extremely challenging. The lake can be iced over until early July.
Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Keep in mind that Leavitt Lake road is not plowed and often holds snow into July. The trailhead is only accessible with an SUV with high clearance and 4-wheel drive. It’s a pretty rough dirt road with a couple of seasonal shallow stream crossings.

Buy a tree saver a save a tree. You can kill the tree by hooking the winch to the tree doing the way you did. Besides that, great video see you on the trails
I think traction boards (Max Trax) would have gotten you out of the rutted spots. Pls use a tree saver when anchoring to a tree. Beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing. Good job on the video and keep it up.
love your lifted Rav4 man, I've been hitting up some of the places you have recommended on southern California and my family had a blast going off road. Keep up the good work, cant wait for more
Love your content, planning on following all of your routes! Thanks for being a trailblazer bro
Another great video!!! Love watching your adventures. I will definitely have to visit Leavitt Lake now that you showed it to me. Thank you for posting this video.
I literally just ran into both your cars and I am so excited it’s like seeing a famous person. I think you’re awesome I love your content.
New subscriber here!!! Love this video so informative!! Been planning to go there alone with ny truck so yeahhhhh glad I jumped into watching this! Salamat po..
Great content, you seem to be able to get out there a lot (enviously looks at video list), and I love all that you do with that Rav4. A couple of recommendations, never spool in your winch line without tension. This creates slack on the line, which will cause it to slip under load - a scary and potentially dangerous situation. Also, as mentioned before, get a tree saver and make use of it any time you are winching off a tree. Good luck on all the adventures!
always use a tree saver when winching around tree...
Dang, you’re like a one man crew. You do it all. Galing mo tol👊🏼
Cool spot!!
You should have released some of your tire pressure so the tires have more grip on the loose and rocky road and even crossing the water. Just saying👌🏽👍🏽
Looks awesome man
Fun fun fun and be carful going out alone to the rough area that rav4 is awesome tho
You gotta learn how to fish Jeff...such a great area to go to and do a bit of fishing. Extra protein too haha

Nice vid. Make sure you use a tree saver when winching from a tree, it protects the tree and your winch line.
Always go with a friend with another rig for safety. Looks like you really spent so much on your rig, suggestion from a Kuya. Sell your rig now and buy a Jeep, the wrangler sports starts only at $28k… a Jeep can go anywhere and will also maintain its value…
Have fun and hope to see you one of these days in the trail… that’s also Bear country so hope you brought protection.
Always go with another vehicle. Totally agree.
Meh.. Subaru guy here...
Most of us "soft" roaders don't want Jeeps! Don't get me wrong, Jeeps are so off road capable. But drive like crap on the road as a daily driver. I wheel my Outback. Sure I can't rock crawl, but I can get up moderate Jeep trails. Eventually I would love to get a 90's Cherokee. Those are so bad ass.
No, he needs to buy a 4Runner. 4Runners are almost as good as Jeeps offroad but drive way better on the road. 4Runners also hold/maintain its value.
@@static603 if I were to get a dedicated off roader I would get a 4 runner.
GX470 offroad mall crawler grocery getter guy here on 35s. Loved leavitt lake.
Leavitt is an awesome spot, way to go
same spot idol. ayos.....
We went there on 4th of July , that place is beautiful
Amazing video.
Just tried going here this past weekend but there were fires in the area!!! Went to coyote flats instead
Thank you.
Really awsome video 😍😍😍❤❤❤
nice kuya planning to go there soon on May
Awesome content Boss! Subscribed!
Love your videos
What part of CA are you from?
Did u have rough country winch before harbor freight. If so how was it ?
Yes but didn't work so well especially it's not so waterproof unlike the badland winch from harbor freight
Pinoy talaga naka tsinelas lang 👍
How was the water? Was it cold?
It's a little bit cold but not to bad
stay away from Levitt lake. Locals are crazy there.
What size are your tires? And what kind of suspension do you have on your rav4?
255 70 16 and eibach spring and rough country lift so 3.7-3.5 inch lift with custom subframe drop on the front
Great video. Use a tree saver please so you don't kill a tree.
Do ppl come here in the fall? Thinking about heading out this weekend but kinda skeptical if the road will be closed.
The bay to get there is closed from November until June. The lake is still iced over in June, often. August/September are the only reliable months.
can you camp anywhere on the lake? or is there camp sites?
There's alot of Campground near the lake that you can set your camp
Tree Saver Tol!
Oo nga eh tol Naka bili na ako para sa next time 😅
Do you have a transmission or oil cooler? Does your car overheat in high elevation mountain passes, with all the added weight?
No everything in drivetrain is stock and no also never had overheat in the transmission even I always use 1st gear to crawl up on a trail
How much ground clearance do you have?
I have 11 inch of ground clearance
Thumbs down because no tree saver. You should think about getting a more capable rig that has 4WD not awd
Bai !!! Thats not how you tie off... when winching or wrapping around a tree. Safe hazard yon bai.
@Not Dave alot of people do not have proper training. I dont either ... I just work in an industry that uses cranes and I know your not suppose to wrap your winch line or cable around itself
Dude buy a tree saver and learn to properly wench yourself out of situations. It was all bad watching that part. Save nature don't destroy it
Solo ka lang dyan boss?
Oo tol
