I was told that my pituitary adenoma was the size of a ping pong ball. They discovered it after having to go in for an MRI because I was suffering from severe migraines. A week after they found it I went in for an operation to remove 90% of it. The operation took about 5hrs. They couldn't remove everything because the adenoma was too close to some artery. They remove what was left through radiation therapy, 30 minute sessions for 4 weeks. This happened 15 years ago, my health is ok. I've been taking hormones every since the operation.
If you have been diagnosed with hypopiruitisim hang in there it's not the end of the world. Just prepare yourself for some hospital bills not covered by your medical aid. You'll also get through this. I'm 51 years old and still feeling strong, through the grace of God.

Hi I listened to your story and mine is similar March 2016 I got my eyes checked because it seemed like I was looking in a tunnel and when I closed one eye this black blanket came and I could read horizontal lines on both eyes. I too found from a MRI a tumor pressing on my optic nerve. They operated right away up through my nose and removed the tumor on my pituitary gland. My eye site returned and the healing began. But right after I had no functioning thyroid, cortisol, estrogen. And I also became depressed and anxiety. So now I've went to tKing no meds. In 2016 totaling 5 meds now I had lost 25 lbs. and was weak. But I'm now getting stronger! I'm a 53 old female but there for awhile I felt 83 years old. I just wanted to tell you my story too!

I too had a pituitary tumor. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we were poor, and seeking medical attention is a privilege when you're poor, my tumor went undiagnosed for 12 years. When I was 25 people were asking my family if I had Downs Syndrome due to the side effects the tumor had on my body. By the time I was 25, I had lost half of the vision in my left eye and a quarter of the vision in my right eye. I had no body hair, no sexual attraction to anyone, a severely compromised immune system, slept 16 hours a day, had an aversion to sunlight, an aversion to loud noise, and when I woke I would have constant pain running down the left side of my head. It all ended ok because for 35 years since then I have been blessed with a great life.. Best of luck.

I’m 23 years old and just found out I have a pituitary tumor, after going to the er for severe migraines, I had a mri done in the hospital and they found a infarct lacunar or small stroke. I was then told I had to get another mri when they found the pituitary tumor. I’m kinda used to being told bad medical diagnoses as I had open heart surgery when I was 14 with other heart problems. But I’m hoping for the best about this tumor as I’m getting another mri soon.

I was getting tested for breast cancer and now I am getting tested for a tumor. Being only a 17-year-old male my doctor did not want to say anything to me until she was sure, she said not to stress now and if something does show up I still should not stress. All my levels are normal except my prolactin. she said my prolactin was EXTREMELY low and was trying to find a reason if I was doing drugs or drinking. I dont do that which at my age is considered embarrassing. Anyways I am extremely tired constantly and have migraines. I like to fast and my longest fast was 13 days, I took my supplements so I would be good during the fast. I just hope that that the fast is what's causing my prolactin levels to be so low. keep in mind I did this fast almost 5 months ago and I got my blood test done a month ago.

I had some dramatic experience too
I am 21years female and started with left half of my left eye started having blue and red hues but I thought It was migraine 2 months later half left got blurry and it was strange because I couldn't read from half left and could read from half right and it was my medical entrance exam time so I couldn't go for check up untill my the exam day is over . So after my exam I went to an opthalmologist and he did some tests and said your eye is completely fine and vision is full and now this problem has something to do with with your cerebral cortex , so he told me to do some blood tests MRI of brain MRA of cerebral cortex CT scan of spine and Ultrasound of my neck ECG after that I went to neurosurgeon and he simply said just do MRI and when I was in MRI machine the operator came and said your doctor has changed your MRI plain to MRI contrast and injected something into my right arm and my brother was siting outside they told him it was some kind of ulcer and when I come out of MRI room my brother was scared so I asked him what happened he said it's ulcer I was scared too because ulcers in brain can rupture anytime so after the report come we went to our neurosurgeon and he said please don't be scared it's a tumor and we have to remove it and your vision is getting compromised at this time was vision was only 64% in both eyes and so this day was Thursday and doc said get admitted on Saturday and your surgery will be on Monday . I did what they said went under Transphenoidal Surgery and was in ICU for 5 days after that in daycare room for another 5 days and it's been 27 days since my surgery and now the situation is I am recovering very well from surgery but the tumour biopsy shows it was Granulomatous hypophysitis and specially tubular hypophysitis so I am also on ATT right now .

Enlarged lower leg veins. Frequent urination. Spinal pain. Lower back side pain, headaches, confusion, vision issues. The rapid weight loss makes me think cancer or a non cancerous tumor. After researching, I found the pituitary gland can cause this. I lost 25 pounds in 1 month just prior to my hypothyroidism diagnosis. I've lost 20 more pounds since then. All within 1 year. My weight loss had stopped for a few months after starting Levothyroxine, but has kicked back in. I had elevated white blood cells last year. Those are being checked again in a week or 2. Dr google says multiple myeloma, pituitary tumors, lymphoma, leukemia. Multiple myeloma scares the sh1t out of me. The rest, I can handle mentally. I don't want that diagnosis. If my white cells are elevated higher with my next blood test, I will see about a brain mri scan. I know hormones can cause A LOT of issues.

Until I ended in the ER. I've had visual issues for 7 months now and only hoping to recover my eyesight but I understand it can be so late into the tumor the optic nerve might be damaged permanently. 🙁 I've started seeing a black ball when i rub my eyes it's always on the opposite of where I press, I wonder can I somehow see the thing lol.
Other symptoms I have is complete lack of sexdrive, irritability, feeling forever tired, sleepy. Brittle nails, hairless arms, my head aches were mild to none until around a month ago, now its awful. A lot of tension in my eyes.. Like they are ready to pop.

Mine was pressing on the optic nerve also. Mine was discovered at the end January of this year and surgery was February 7th about 10 days from diagnosis. Talk about being scared. My whole world was turned upside down. But with some faith and the best surgeon in Oregon I was back to work in two weeks. The vision I lost may never come back but I remain optimistic.

My mom got a 5cm pituitary tumor in 2017, she lost her eye's vision. Then, she had a laparoscopic surgery but the doctor just cut about 3cm. 2018, she was told to surgery by Gamma Knife. I belived that she will get that tumor away but in 2019, her eyes was shaked a little bit so she went to check MRI and the result was that tumor increases about 1cm ( totally 3.3cm) bigger than before 1.3cm. Now, my family is scarying and waiting because maybe she will have a third surgery. Im really worry

50mcg is a starting dose. A TSH that high is crazy. You are very under medicated. I was started on 75mcg of Levo when my TSH was 13. My TSH jumped to 17 after 6 weeks. I was put on 100mcg of Levo then. 6 weeks later my TSH dropped to 10. My dose is going up to 125mcg next week.
