    The problem is that Mel endorsed them a SECOND time, even after they were caught. And her second promotion remained active even after another TH-camr contacted her to say that she bought a fake from them.

      @@KateSwan Yes, she had a new collaboration with them a few months back with a new video showing their store. Then a TH-camr, Luxury and life in the middle, bought a bag from them after watching Mel's video which, after authentication from a third party, turned out to be fake. The TH-camr contacted Mel to tell her about the problem. I didn't follow what happened after that.
      I was surprised that such a big TH-camr as Mel continue to work with this company after the previous problem with them. Doing this she legitimate them to some point infront of her audience. Maybe she deleted the resent video about their shop.

    WOW that is horrifying. I live in AU and have heard such good things about Cosette. Mel did a more recent video collaborating with Cosette where she walked around the store and showed heir process of packing. I was stringly considering going in store. So glad I didnt.

    Super fakes out there are being reproduced at an alarming rate as soon as the authentic purse is sold at the stores. I just can’t see myself purchasing another preloved for this reason. It’s honestly ruining the handbag business.

    I have seen outlet bags in fashionphile. The price reflects that they are from outlets, but they are authentic. Also brands do not tend to sell their best sellers (in classic colors) In outlets unless they are a random color or something like that.

    • @Skyebright1
      @Skyebright1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree Cosette promotes that they’re bags that haven’t sold in Europe, but they’re all classic bags not seasonal bags. And brands can post bags to different countries themselves

  • @Sunset553
    @Sunset553 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Unrelated to Cosette, I have been watching Fashionphile like it’s a tv show. I don’t have many luxury items, but I do look at a lot of online listings. I just had a thought about the way they promise authenticity and they promise to buy back what they sell. They are set up where they could be selling pretty good fakes, then buying them back to sell them again at the luxury price. I’m not saying they are doing that, I just realized they could do it and they wouldn’t question the authenticity when buying the merch back.
    I am interested in this topic, so I’ll subscribe.

    I spent $100 to return with dhl. The item was returned by customs as a counterfeit.

    I saw this as a potential issue a while ago when super fakes became popular. I stopped buying pre loved years ago and only buy direct from the store. Unfortunately the potential saving isn’t worth potentially being ripped off. And honestly I’ve seen some that look shockingly real and I can’t tell the difference.

    Between the current demand for YSL and their price increases I don't find 10% or 20% reason enough to buy a bag from a reseller. I might suggest buying from a department store that has a promotion like gift with purchase or you can get a couple $100 gift card for you know a $1000 Purchase or establishing a relationship with a sales associate where at an outlet store you might find a previous season of the bag You like at a discounted rate. in those scenarios you're guaranteed authenticity and you're getting the discount.

    I agree the influencers are getting real bags. Apparently people are getting authentication certificates from Cosette that have a different code from their bags. So Cosette have one real bag that they use to have an authentication certificate for their fake bags

    i actually find fakes (when i come by them IRL) often very “cathartic?” my mom ended up buying a “prada” bag from a consignment store bc she thought i’d like the quirky style, and i felt it was too good to be true because the logo looked real but the bag itself looked cheaply made. (and the inside did not look like an older authentic prada bag, and it was made by some sort of unfamiliar brand known for fakes) i still keep it though because i always believe as long as i can get use out of the items i wear, it’s fine. not that it’s ok to dupe people, but i feel i’d never actually own a prada bag otherwise because i’ve seen the store in person and the bags didn’t appeal to me stylistically for the price they were at. whenever i end up saving money, i end up more reluctant to buy designer clothes because i already have so many things in my closet that were inexpensive but have lasted me years.

    Cosette has a high TrustPilot rating because Cosette flag EVERY negative review as defamatory. I had my negative review with the statement of non authenticity removed and Trustpilot emailed me to let me know my review has been removed because Cosette claim it's 'defamatory or illegal'. So I did adjust my post but I emailed Trustpilot sending them links of the media stories plus my video in a YSL store comparing my Cosette bag to a real YSL bag. Same style and colour.
    Trustpilot reinstated my review and emailed me. But within minutes my review was removed again and trustpilot tell me Cosette flagged it again. How frustrating. Trustpilot need to take some responsibility here. So many people have gone ahead and purchased from Cosette based on their Trustpilot rating. If every negative review got published I'm pretty sure that rating would be much much lower.

      I used real authentication once and they authenticated a wallet “ stated it was authentic” Sold the wallet later and the person who bought it had it authenticated and they stated it was fake. Had to go back to real authentic and then they found it to be inauthentic. How can we actually trust authenticators? Basically, only buy from boutiques or stores.

    I don’t believe the influencers are wearing authentic bags. I’ve watched these influencers that haves at least 150 bags from Hermès to LV and it’s unbelievable the money they spend, I truly question if they are authentic. This has put a damper on my purchase if, I think I’m done. It’s sad when you have to pay more money to have them authenticated.

    I wonder if they buy or source b-ware products from the factories (or people making side money in factories), allowing them to sell at a discounted price in the first place... then when it comes to getting it authenticated, authenticators note things that "a-products" wouldn't have quality-wise, and that's why they cannot confirm authenticity.

    Have you seen Mel in Melbourne's bag collection? It is massive! As in, like a department store. I don't think she and / or her husband make that much money. So I personally think she owns lots of fake. She lives in AU but she's Asian. So, she knows the "drill". No one can scrutinize superfakes from afar, not even on video. No wonder I have watched other YTbers criticizing her 😅 She just wants momey. And she does lots of giveaway. Prolly winners have received fakes. LoL

    • @uly1q
      @uly1q 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I said that when I first saw some of her videos. Certain types of people know how to obtain the fakes. I know for a fact because back in the late 90’s there was a Chinese store in the downtown where I was living at the time and they were selling lv bags for 75 dollars so I bought one and when I took it to school I compared it to a classmates authentic lv bag and we couldn’t tell the difference. Everything was identical.

    Sorry to nitpick, but are influencers/y'all really saying that any bag not purchased at a branded boutique needs to be re-authenticated? So bags from Neimans, Harrods, Barneys, Farfetch, Lane Crawford, Mitsukoshi example, need to be checked post-purchase?! it seems wild to put that responsibility on the consumer.

    • @emilia123zz
      @emilia123zz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think so because you are still buying directly from the brand within those department stores. Harrods is just the building in which Chanel sits, but you are still buying directly from Chanel not Harrods, for example. If you are buying second hand directly from the department store you should be as careful as buying second hand anywhere.
