how can a guitarist NEVER play a chord and even non guitarists immediateley recognise him from every note he played? in BB´s case he just couldnt play any. what nice jam would this have been with bb soloing over this... some stupid ai will fake it.
I appreciate that you let some power chords ring out. I think that's the best way to hear the true texture and quality of the gain stages, as well as how it progressively decays. Rolling back on the volume was also a great way to showcase how useful/interactive those qualities are. Great job to everyone involved with the creation of this amp!

It's kind of sad that more guitarist don't use their volume controls on their guitars. You just proved how versatile a simple volume control can be. I'm an old school player, started out on a 1 channel amp. I'd rather plug straight into amps instead of tap dancing on pedals. Great demo.

The great Mr. Ty Tabor!!! He is from my neck of the woods the great state of "Missery" lol, nah he's a Springfield Missouri boy and I'm up in St.Louis, MO. I honestly can not believe that they were not HUGE after they dropped the Dogman record. Ty is a monster player, both a super accurate rhythm player with amazing feel, and a gunslinger of a lead player too. What a huge sounding 3 piece!!! Man I gotta see King's X again REALLY soon.

Really great amp. I got the SC100 a year ago and haven't looked back. Before that, I went through all sorts of tube amps and rack gear for 25 years. But nothing sounded as good and as dynamically responsive as the SC100 to me. He demos here how well it cleans up rolling off the volume... but this amp will actually clean up a great deal just by softening your picking, which was amazing to me. I've never played an amp that does that so well.
I concur. Looked most of my 38+ years playing guitar looking for a solid state amp that will equal a tube amp. Sick of maintenance, biasing, on and on. Hate digital. After trying everything known to man, this is as close as I have found to a tube amp as I can find. Who would have figured. Orange!
I have a rocker terror tube head. I don't think that I have ever heard a solid state amp sound so close to a tube amp. This crush series sounds awesome.
Orange truly has become the new king of amps, especially for humbucker guitars. I adore my little Micro Terror (I run it through a 4x12 cab looks kinda funny and rocks hard) and plan to upgrade to the Super Crush 100 head for gigging.
Amp sounds killer. Digging the distortion channel on this one more than on my Crush Pro. Obviously not the first to say it, but I really wish the cab emulation could be turned off so we could at least load in our own cab IRs in a DAW. Luckily it's not a feature I would use often, but now it's a feature I'll never use. Main thing is the amp still sounds good, and has a good effects loop.
An alternative might be to run the effects send into an interface, then apply your cab IRs. Which would bypass the poweramp, but a free plug-in like Ignite TPA-1 can help add that element back in.
When I meet a Tabor I like to say "Oh, like the guitar player Ty Tabor?" and they usually say "Yeah", but they have no idea who I'm talking about. Sometimes even legends go unappreciated. If I could have any 3 guitarists, I'd take Jimmy Page, Ty Tabor, and Nuno Bettencourt!

Same here. My main amp is a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 50 paired with a 1960AV cabinet. I recently got to see Kings X for the first time 2 days ago. Ty was playing a Strat through an Orange head (the older model which the Super Crush is based off of; can't recall the exact model name at the moment) with 2 4x12 matching cabinets. I know this guy is a massively underrated legendary guitarist, but I was in complete awe of how fat he got that single coil Strat sounding on the dirty tones. The band that opened for them; their guitarist had a expensive Bogner head paired with a Mesa Boogie cabinet and Tabor's setup just absolutely demolished it in terms of clarity and cutting through the mix. He has definitely got me interested in trying an Orange amp in the near future. Definitely flips the narrative that tube amps are always 100% superior to solid state; I no longer believe that to be the case.
One thing i did notice with the cr120 its loud if plugged into a 8ohm cab but loses a hell of alot of volume plugged into a 16ohm cab. And yet the Marshall MG 100DFX is loud what ever cab you use. It does not lose as much volume. The cr120 is kind of a dark sounding amp. And i think the new super crush 100 needed the top end boost it has in order to be a better amp. You can tune most amps to be dark sounding. But you cant always get the top treble I have quite a few amps and the cr120 and boss katana even. Although they sound good they struggle to get that top end like some of my other amps. I've tried numerous cabs too. And you just cant quite get the same treble even with it cranked.. My Marshal VS 100 and VS80 puts them to shame. The only thing they lack is high distortion but sound amazing with a tube screamer etc. The cr120 is best suited with a strat and single coil guitars it sheds some of its darkness and sings a bit more openly. Unless of course you are looking for a darker sound like for metal then its perfect.
Can you bypass the cab sim on the balanced out so you can use 3rd party IRs in your daw? not too keen on the cab sims provided so this is the only thing i need to know before i pull the trigger and buy one!! If not, i'd assume you'd need a load box with the speaker out?
I actually emailed Orange about this recently and they said it was fine to use the speaker out with no load box. I think I am going to order one soon because of this XD
You get a quick shot in this video of how the combo speaker is connected by a 1/4" speaker cable. So yes, you could easily unplug the combo speaker and plug in an external cabinet. The external cabinet would need to be either 8 ohms or 16 ohms. You could even do two 16 ohm cabinets in parallel for a combined load of 8 ohms. However, unlike the head, there is only one speaker input, so you would need to use a special Y speaker cable or a small box with two ins wired in parallel to one out in order to run a stack off this combo head. Assuming there's room in the chassis, it would also be pretty easy to wire in another speaker input jack in parallel to the existing speaker input so that the combo head had two speaker connections into it. I personally would likely get the head because it's nice and light and I already own a nice 2x12 cab. But the combo is certainly convenient!
I've been looking around google but can't really get an answer. Can I use the Super Crush 100 just on it's own as a regular amp or does it need to have the cabinet in order for it to make sound?

what is the best cab to pair with the Crush 100 head? I keep seeing mixed reviews between the Orange PPC212 V and the Orange Crush Pro 240.

Cab Sim definitely needs and EQ, but after a high pass filter and a few small adjustments it sounds great.

If you buy the combo for $699 you don't need to buy a speaker cabinet. If you buy the head for $499 you have to buy a speaker cabinet.
