I used to do that around there up until i joined the Army in 91 , best way to spot the saphires is to spread your wash while wet across a mirror , hopefully it's sunny and the light shines through the semi precious stones.
I'm a 66 year old grandmother of 6 boys. I do appreciate your adventures. What I appreciate the most is the fact that you don't swear. I've loved geology since my father introduced me to the garnet mines in North Creek NY when I was a child. You inspire me!
Lol $7-8k in sapphires I laughed my ass off 👍, good video mate.
Crickey...you are not wrong!
Nice work mate
Great effort
Those little half turns are definitely the best way to settle heavies.
Important almost lost technique when gold panning.
Cheers Bruce
Lol love the bedroom tent setup haha😂
What are those black rocks. Are they black onyx. Wow great first time finding gems. Keep them videos coming.❤❤❤❤😊
Cool hunt, Rob!
Sapphires can be any colour except red. The red version is ruby. They are the same mineral (corundum or aluminium oxide) but with different impurities to change the colour. Very nice collection.
Mike Wilson the likely hood of them being ruby is dismal at best. They are most likely garnet or zircon, I'm leaning more towards the last one. Zircon is a natural stone, the man made form of it is cubic zirconia most common in dress jewellery. Zircon has a reflectiveness very similar to diamond but without the hardness or therefor the density of a diamond. Still a pretty stone when cut right.
Mike Wilson also while sapphires can be a multitude of colours the main three colours found in Australia are traditional blue, green and yellow.
Either my eyes are playing tricks on me but I swear I seen a small light sky blue sapphire at 9:38 in the 3 o’clock position in the sand you missed. Love your videos though very interesting to watch 👍🏽🙂
Two thumbs 👍 keep the journey going 😅
The big ones are still out there mate. Blue Tier is the go for a young guy like you who can hike.
Great edit and adventure mate the sapphires are good fun to get lots of toss and other gems 💎 to find aswell 👌🏼
Cheers Rob enjoyed watching, until next time mate. 👍
Argh, can't wait to get back there this week. Binge watching locals video's is only making me more restless.
Sometimes those big colorful stones can b a jem.. Collect some beautiful colored stones

Good video mate I’ve been spending all my spare time after watching this in the weld river luckily I live in winnaleah just up the road
Awesome vid mate! keep them coming, it looks like awesome fun 😀👍🏻
Damien Phillips thanks legend!
In the last lot i saw you throw away at least two bits of translucent-transparent¿ blue. You may be working too fast, but you have a vigor and beauty that just won' t quit.
Been in your footsteps got a little picker in nancy creek you are right a grate place polly
Oh sweet, how far up Nancy did you walk?
I think the little yellowy-brownish ones are Zircons and the clear could be Topaz or a clear Beryl.
G'day mate! Nice blue stone. Please, do another video like that. Greetings from Brazil.✌😎🖐
No worries ill do one shortly!
Sapphire are many colors
Most enjoyed the adventure, nice sapphires...
Gary n Doris Lawson thanks for watching 😃
Great work man, love the editing and quality footage. Do you have someone come along to help film/use the drone?
Abel Art thanks bro, this drone footage was shot on the mavic pro, it’s automated flight so I can do what I want and the drone will get the shot. 😊😊😀
Rob Parsons that’s rad, and even more impressed with your effort. Makes all the difference 👍🏻 also .... valuable day you had!!! So cool
Nice.
Nice work man but you should’ve had a gold pan underneath 👊🏻😂👍🏻
TAS D does it hold gold? 🤭 haha. I did bring it with the intention of catching fines. But i figured it’d slow down the process. I love how quick gem sieves are compared to panning!
Rob Parsons I don’t no need to have a look mate 🌾👀🌾
Very enjoyable vid where did you purchase your sieve from mate
Grant sorry mate for the late reply, eBay!
Very enjoyable mate 👍
Neil St Leon thanks lad

Frome rd, next to gold course, first bridge from memory, you’ll know because there is heaps of piles of rocks from previous digging
Why in a tent inside a house?.
