    Fascinating adventure! Well done on your research and for finding a piece. Tassie bush is just so dense and impenetrable.

    I've been into the crater, some 15 years ago Botanically intense would be an understatement.
    Yup that's the stuff
    Look in the local road gravel

      @@Rob.Parsons overgrown with bauera rubioides. Ghania grandis, and coral fern.
      I first did this track when it was still passable, then again a few years later, it was definitely memorable, I will say that. And that was 15 year ago
      The only thicker track I've been along was the south east cape track that was freshly tagged but not well kept.
      I've been through plenty an impenetrable thicket, and darwin crater sticks in my mind

    Love the videos mate. Just wondering what Maps and Navigation apps you're using?

    • @Rob.Parsons
      @Rob.Parsons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nick Hanson thanks dude appreciate it! The app I’m using in this vid and regularly in my others is maps.me, it’s nothing fancy but it’s free, has a lot of tracks on it and is pretty accurate from my experience. I also use google maps offline too for some of the hairier walks.

    that tassie scrub looks hard. you had pink granite. (Adamalite) so there must be tin deposits nearby.

      Definitely Darwin glass, it had the bubbles and looked the same as what I had seen online, it is more common than I thought, some have found hundreds of pieces!

    Interesting stuff, I guess it would be similar to obsidian. Did you do any follow up?

    • @grantsmith505
      @grantsmith505 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obsidian is volcanic glass
      Darwinite is more similar to moldavite, although easier to work with

  • @RedmanOutdoors366

    Glass is generally heavier than Quartz it's found near gold and black sands so you have to go to the bottom of the gravels to find the good pieces 😎👍💯🦘
