I always love seeing the ACTFR trucks: greatest livery in Oz: clearly visibility, good at night and in poor light conditions, easy for drivers to see and react to and simple. Over-done graphics, chevrons and varied colour makes trucks harder to see quickly. Drivers have to subconsciously take time to figure out the scene before them.

You read that somewhere, but its bulldust. No fire trucks in OZ have over the top livery anyway.

Were the airport units transiting thru on there way to assist with this fire .....didn't think they would have airport trucks at a landslide fire station

During that month there was a heightened fire risk to the territory and surrounding region and a State of Alert/Emergency was declared. The local emergency service agency had secured the use of the 2 aviation fire units to be based at that fire station for at least one week. The vehicles were secured through the cooperation of the local urban fire service (ACTFR) and Airservices Australia

Back in 2003 they had that massive firestorm that hit the suburbs. The whole city was in a state of emergency. It probably would of been a different story if they used these guys and attacked the fire more aggressively early with more aircraft.

If that's a strike team formation, it is officially the shittiest one I have ever seen!

They're the 'big guns' The main thing is they get there and get the job done. During that fire season in Australia there were bush fires in every state and territory it was unprecedented. So many fire crews coming in from every state.
