- VALORANT are adding a new armor type in Patch 9.10 called the 'Regen Shield'. We know very little about how it specifically it'll work, other than it seems to replenish some of your health shortly after you take damage. Also keep in mind the Regen Shield & Phoenix Buffs WON'T be releasing tomorrow (Patch 9.08), and instead will release in November.

i think the idea is you have a light shield (so 125 hp in total) but when u get damaged the 50 extra shield just regens your current armor(up to 125 again)and i think it has like 2 full recharges from what we've seen

@@shaf2806 Not really In a straight up duel, you're still getting 1 tapped by everything pretty much but what this could do Is nerf spaming through stuff a bit since if you take smaller damage it regenerates back up. But if there is 50 shield version of this then it's OP.
I think it’s only gonna replenish armor and not base health. It seems like him regenning his base health is a Phoenix buff where you get a bit of healing when you throw your wall or molly and that you won’t have to stand in them anymore but we will see I guess.

@@thishandleistaken1011 I think he's right. Phoenix already has a healing buff active before/while getting shot by the Jett. That obviously stops the heal and it starts up again after a few moments. Probably means he doesn't have to stick to his wall or molly the whole time to get the full heal. That makes sense, since pretty much all other heals don't force you to stay in one spot. Looks like the new shield tops at 25 armour and will regen twice after taking damage.
@@mikenelson263 The healing buff is the regen shield. It will regen health and armor but only up to a maximum of 125. It's obvious.

For those wondering, there is absolutely NO way that riot will make the shield regen give you a total health of above 150. I think its safe to assume that One taps are still a thing, and the max shield regen has to be 150.

Safe to assume that one taps are still a thing ? What about iso shield ? Riot has been lost and can't seem to be able to make new agents without making weird health abilities or shields
What I think for the regen shield mechanics:
- Probably only for light shields
- Won’t replace lights and will be the midrange option(like the outlaw)
Total HP will be 125 but the 50 under it will be like “fuel” to recharge your shields when you’re not in a fight. When this 50 fuel runs out, no more regen. Total HP will never go over 125/150 in this case so one-tapping is not an issue still.
Extra on why it won’t go to 175 - Riot have publicly said about their dislike for adding shields as abilities to the game. Since Iso had a shield, we can assume this means shield as equipment or extra HP which would shift the gun meta.

It is definitely interesting, im curious to see how this new regen shield mechanic will be implemented to all the agents. This would probably also mean that low-HP clutches will be slightly more winnable. Overall, im really excited for these changes and cant wait how these will turn out.
Fr, it’s always such a disadvantage when you’re in a 1v1 clutch and you know you’re gonna lose because you have low health, you’re not playing an agent who can heal themselves like Reyna, clove, sage, and phoenix

In some cases yes, but regen shield’s main benefit seems to be long-term survival instead of being an immediate benefit for fights, which both Reyna and Clove only have. They rely on being topped off as much as possible to have the best chance to frag, so having 125 instead of 150 in between fights hurts a lot even if it can regen outside of combat.
I’d imagine this new shield will be popular with controllers and sentinels since they usually stay back and have the most value alive
@@mythlessrwf Aha so that means as a guy who mains Cypher and Omen i shoud try this out for extra backline benefit. The only thing that im afraid about is if it gets obused on hit and runners like Yoru and Jett. Cos they can get in a fight run away, get some helth back and get in again.
@@mythlessrwf I think you are right. Probably comes down to how much it will cost compared to half armour. Say, 400 for half, 600 for new armour and 1000 for full armour. That would make sense. You definitely always want to buy full armour if you can afford it. This new armour is a little extra juice for half-buy rounds, but is still weak against Phantom 1-taps and Outlaw body shots.
Also remember Reyna's overheal is now permanent. If it stacks with this that would be strong. Also looks like it pairs well with a Skye on your team, since she can heal the body health you don't regen, otherwise the value diminishes with each duel you take.
I was expecting a new agent ability to regen shields... so this will be interesting (not overheal, like actual shield health that can carry over into other rounds)
The Regen shield makes sense as anti-eco - their Glocks can't kill you and 175 total (125 then heal) is more consistent

It's likely going to work in a way where it's 75 shield total, but it actively caps out at 25 and regenerates so the maximum effective health a player can have is still 125.
I really hope this gets added into the game soon, I’m sick and tired of having no chances during clutches when majority of my health gets chucked down by people spamming through smokes or wall banging with the fucking Odin/ares. It’s always super annoying that healing agents are the most picked agents in ranked

How shields strats would work now :
pistol round - no/light shields
2nd round save - no shields/ 2nd round force - full shields (due to exisitence of outlaw)
then Regen shields makes sense for full buy rounds as you're gonna get one tapped anyway (vct half shields strat before outlaw)- but Regen shield should give you 125 + 50(?) full round
which will f*ck up enemy comms because u never know if they are one shot or not

the regen to the health is from something else because the shield heal starts before it and the 25 loss from regen shield directly correlates to the 25 shield increase. i hope you can still buy light and heavy since I cant see riot changing max health considering what it would do to the gun meta, especially with the phantom. My best guess at how this all works is that everything is the exact same except you get this for free at the start of every round. The reason being this is quite a strong ability so if you could buy it, it would cost a lot, raising the full buy cost from 3900 credits to probably 5000+ credits. It would be too much to have to buy shield and this anyway. Riot could do something where on round 1 you dont get a regen shield and then round two you get 25 then round 3 its 50 till half.

I think one of the reasons for regen shield is to make guns like the outlaw more usable against buy rounds
I don't think it's any kind of armor but the maximum amount of health you can regen from your fire in one round.

So this means low hp rounds have more clutch potential unless you get headshoted? So now someone can potentially eliminate the enemy team one by one as long he hit all headshots and enemy team don't.
I think it works as 125 hp but u can get back the 25 armor. So in total you have 175 hp but only 125 at one time making it balanced. You don't have 150 like full shields but it's worth in the way u have a higher max hp over time . Maybe make it cost 1500 or 1250. Cool concept.

If you take 120 damage from vandal, you'll have 5hp and 25 shield, which still takes one vandal shot to death

I’m not hating but I doubt they will make health regen. The pool of regenerative resource seems to be 1 to 1 with the shields. As the shield number increases the pool decreases. Also that just seems like harsh design in a tactical shooter.
I think the “healing” will be part of Pheonix passive when he gets a second kill or something (his flash comes back off cd after the kill in this clip so that is my assumption) Also the “healing” buff text appears which usually indicates that agent is gaining health by some sort of effect.

It will probably be a new shield type and I’m guessing it would cost the same as heavy shields. This is super interesting and would basically play as a the light shield meta x3

@@Mommyyriah you can see two different numbers. The large number is your actual shield (the one that tanks damage) and the number below is the backup shield. If the large shield decrease below 50, the backup shield decreases to increase your actual shield backupto 50. (Still an assumption tho, but I think its safe to assume this)

No but that won't happen because you can only have 125 hp at once. Then you have 50 hp worth of recharge. You can still get one tapped by everything that you could before

I really don't like this Idea. Its just more steps to make the game feel more arcade like and less like a competitive shooter. Riot games as a true fan of the game please don't constantly ruin the competitive integrity of your game. Give us something consistent to play and rely on I only dream man. Like why a new agent every act and why changes to the games armor system like bruh I just hate it tbh
new armor will make outlaw, sheriff, phantom, and guardian better.
Sure you might get more health if you survive a gunfight, but your also more likely to die in that gunfight since you have less hp at any given time.

@@thejarskifamily6848It doesn't go over your ordinary shield. It replenishes it at 25 max until the 25 refill is depleted or you gained 150 in total. It's just a regen pool for armor. So getting shot at phantom with 140 and you survived, hide for sometime and you'll be 35 in total with 10 hp and 25 armor too boot. This punishes sprays and bad headshots that makes the enemy survives than vandal and oppers

@@IPV_Master yes, it's 25 shields that will regen 50 total but not above 25. Essentially lights that repair.
The health healing even when not in wall part is also the Pheonix rework, not the shield, since I've seen confusion around that too.
So essentially the idea is that they're more health than heavies but vulnerable to Phantom/Sheriff headshots at falloff range + Outlaw bodyshots as a downside.

It won't. The armor regen won't take your maximum health to above 150. A vandal hs is a guaranteed kill.
