Just a quick update on one of the ponds for this week's video. If you want to see an update on the DIY pond as well, let me know with a like! Otherwise I"m working on a lot of really cool projects right now that I can't wait to share. Anyway I hope all of you are doing well and are finding productive ways to keep busy. 💚

It's lovely to see, and it will only get better as everything grows. We're fortunate enough to have running water on our place, and have enjoyed seeing all the wildlife that it contains and draws near through the years, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much enjoyment we get from my small patio pond with just a few goldfish.

That's a very nice pond. I need that next to my screened porch. When I was in college I managed a Pier One aquarium store in SW Louisiana. I sold feeder comet goldfish 10 for $1.00 and sometimes a rancher would come in a buy a bunch to throw in their concrete water troughs. The goldfish would eat the horse feed that the horses dropped into the trough, bugs and mosquito larvae and grow unattended. Sometimes in winter, the water trough would freeze over but the goldfish were unaffected. Eventually, the ranchers would bring in large comets to trade in for little ones. I put small goldfish in our pond but the snakes, egrets and herons kept eating them so I stopped.

The hardscaping is so well done, Tanner. I’m excited to see the plant growth. Also, love how you’re such animal person and care about their well-being. Wish more people were. My brother and his wife just purchased their first home. The previous owners had constructed a small koi pond, but it was really ugly and poorly designed-filter and rubber tub left visible, not naturalistic at all. Brother and SIL moved in on the agreed upon date only to find all the koi dead and the pond filthy. Previous owners had apparently been gone a couple weeks but never told them. They also unplugged the filter system. Really sad. Brother and SIL removed the pond yesterday and filled in the hole. RIP fishies

Thank you. THIS is how you take care of a pond. I saw another TH-camr with an Aquascape pond in his front yard and he ignores it (except to add too many fish to it) and it shows, it looks awful. That's a waste. I know you'd never disrespect your ponds that way. Please show the back pond soon too!

Get some seeds for wild flower good for butterflies and pollinators and sprinkle those around the pond, and get some bleeding heart plants and some columbine seeds as well. Maybe some bluebells and ferns. Next fall you can add in some spring bulbs like crocuses, grape hyacinths, snow drops, miniature irises. I could see you also adding in the backyard a bee hive or two for more biodiversity and honey!

Greetings, I liked your video on your ponds, both are great. I have one as well and I have some issues and find that when I try to fix one thing another develops. So i leave it alone and just keep cleaning the pond filter as often as possible or when ever needed. The thing that I did realize I needed a faux Egret, netting for leaves, I made it out of pvc with a slight bow and cover it with a netting. numbered the connection so it can be broken down and reassembled. Down worry about the freezing. Friends ask me if I taken my fish indoors, my answer is "Who takes the fish out of the Delaware River. Keep doing a great job.

Awesome pond, Serpa! I actually will discourage you from removing the alga-it insulates, oxygenates and cleanses. Fish do a good job pruning it. It's also essential for tadpoles-if you would like to attract those. Amphibians will not breed where there are fish though. Pretty much one or the other.

Just as a tip: fill the bucket up with water the next time you do this, that way any small fish you missed will still be able to breath and can be picked out later. What wouldn't I give for this pond to not have any fish in it... local amphibians would *love* that pond! Even with our 2 left over goldfish in our pond I counted 14 newts while cleaning it out, maybe even a few more. Your pond would be perfect for breeding!
