I woke up from WT while i was in college..i found out about their UN association and that floored me. But initially my doubts began because of the lack of real love at the Hall. There were cliques and many were left out..i faded gradually and eventually i moved out of the area and the new found freedom was amazing. God bless and thanks for your story.

One day I saw a video on TH-cam about narcissistic mothers and I instantly gained clarity on what was wrong with me... nothing, it was my JW mother making me feel worthless. A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders, afterwards I clearly saw the narcissistic traits in the governing body and knew I had been bamboozled my entire life. Healed now but it took a couple years

I was born into the cult in the 70s, but couldn't stand it anymore when I was around 13. Everything was forbidden. Couldnt do anything. Couldn't stand it. I hated it. But I won't forget when an elders wife asked me with sarcasm: 'do you feel better now when you're not attending meetings?' Yes, best thing I've ever done! I answered. That shut her up. I can tell you're a beautiful lady inside and out. I just found your Facebook page and started following. I've been in incognito but working on an exit plan (including a new place to live). Good thing is the EXJW meetups I've been to where I've reunited with some familiar faces. I'm not sure if you know Joe and Fran, but there's another TH-cam channel called "Fixing my Faith". Every Wednesday about 7pm ET they have a live stream where nit just EXJW'S, but PIMO's and even current JW's will talk (of course turned off screen to conceal their ID). It's informative and fun and with people who care about the individual. We've all experienced this narcissistic relationship with this cult. Best to you.

You are so beautiful and young, I wish you peace and love in your Journey! I was a JW in the 70’s and was ds’fd and shunned for disagreeing on a couple of doctrines. I hear you when you say at last, you have to let go of the toxic people, whether they be friends or family. I was hurt for years, due to them turning their backs on me. Then I realized, no, it is I who must now turn my backs on them and let go. The aftershocks and growth period after it all feel like your life is sometimes on automatic, and sometimes greatly accelerated. You’re learning and soaking up everything you touch, very rapidly. You have much to be proud of and you are such a good and sensitive soul. Thank you for being here for us. At my elderly age now, I am just beginning to write my book of WT life in the 70’s, all during the Armageddon of 1975 nonsense. It’s taken a lifetime to heal, let go, grow, and now return with those memories back to that place while I write, hopefully helping someone. And me too, it’s “Just Jesus” now. I appreciate that many have been traumatized in the jw org and others,... but as Dr Frank Turek said,... we need to remember that "a church is a hospital for sinners and not a country club for saints". Consider watching various local churches in your area online until you find one you are comfortable with. You could be a great blessing to many!
Many of us have been through the same journey and when you realise your parents are narcissistic its a relief, it explains whats been happening, i wish you the best in your journey. Jerry Wise on TH-cam is good after you realise the dynamics but before Dr Ramani was where I learnt most about all the different varieties if narcissists. According to the WT There is no good reason to leave "the truth". You must stay even if you have doubts (don't tell anyone). You must stay even if you are unhappy. You must stay even if you no longer agree with the teachings. You must stay even if it costs you your job. You must stay even if your whole family leaves the WT. So how do I get out? I guess the only way out without anyone rejecting you is in a body bag (and that's not even guaranteed because they can always smear your reputation after you die...).
Many remain PIMO (physically in, mentally out), until they can make a safe and sound exit plan. At least you are THINKING. You’ll develop the right plan for you in your timing. Many are suing for the “marking” and spoiling of a person’s good name and character now. Document everything. Even if it’s at the smallest Court, for a claim, people are taking those slights of character quite seriously now.
The conventions were awful.. you can tell everyone dreads those long days of indoctrination guilt and people dressing to the nines to pretend to be in 'The Living Your Best Life Ever' cult. When i was on the fence i said if i go back to meetings im done with those conventions and assemblies and now i know i will never waste time in those halls having fake conversations and letting people tell me how to dress think act again. I don't really have a JW story, but I really enjoyed your story. My only connection to the cult is that my mom used to be a JW. She left when I was still a baby and became a born-again Christian. She got judged by her family, but they never stopped talking to her. She just stands her ground when they try to talk to her about her leaving their "truth and the light." I'm thankful that I didn't grow up brain-washed. I was raised Baptist, but now I'm a non-denominational Christian.
Keep pushing! It is traumatic when you leave with all the BS that comes with it. You have a great mindset and being of help to others is certainly healing in itself. May you continue to be blessed Sid!

You seem to have a lot of resentment towards your parents. I was DFed from the hall, but my parents were only disappointed, but i never felt any lack of love, so i know it was easier for me in that regard. I did have lifelong friends who cut me off completely, though. I always try to remember that they were as brainwashed as i had once used to be, and im sure your parents feel like they are doing what is right towards you. I dont know if narcissism is the right word for people who have been brainwashed by a cult because they feel their choices are limited on how they can treat you. I hear you when you say at last, you have to let go of the toxic people, whether they be friends or family. I was hurt for years, due to them turning their backs on me. Then I realized, no, it is I who must now turn my backs on them and let go. The aftershocks and growth period after it all feel like your life is sometimes on automatic, and sometimes greatly accelerated. You’re learning and soaking up everything you touch, very rapidly. You have much to be proud of and you are such a good and sensitive soul. Thank you for being here for us. At my elderly age now, I am just beginning to write my book of WT life in the 70’s, all during the Armageddon of 1975 nonsense. It’s taken a lifetime to heal, let go, grow, and now return with those memories back to that place while I write, hopefully helping someone. And me too, it’s “Just Jesus” now. I couldn’t have Him in the 70’s. I hear now it’s different, but they still don’t know Him, in my opinion. Churches scare me. So...Just Jesus. Consider watching various local churches in your area online until you find one you are comfortable with.

I’ve been on this journey now for almost a decade and one thing I definitely recommend is the Tao Te Ching. To truly understand that being happy or being loved is not the most important things. That one must let go of these concepts of this or that, it limits out contentment and out enjoyment of this life we’ve come to live.

Sorry you were not appreciated within your congregation. Am glad you woke up. It was The Australian Royal Commission that made me hand in a letter of resignation immediately. It felt like heavy chains were falling off me the moment I walked away from the congregation secretary. Decades of depression left me. The conventions were awful.. you can tell everyone dreads those long days of indoctrination guilt and people dressing to the nines to pretend to be in 'The Living Your Best Life Ever' cult. I don't really have a JW story, but I really enjoyed your story. My only connection to the cult is that my mom used to be a JW. She left when I was still a baby and became a born-again Christian. She got judged by her family, but they never stopped talking to her. She just stands her ground when they try to talk to her about her leaving their "truth and the light." I'm thankful that I didn't grow up brain-washed. I was raised Baptist, but now I'm a non-denominational Christian.

You seem to have a lot of resentment towards your parents. I was DFed from the hall, but my parents were only disappointed, but i never felt any lack of love, so i know it was easier for me in that regard. I did have lifelong friends who cut me off completely, though. I always try to remember that they were as brainwashed as i had once used to be, and im sure your parents feel like they are doing what is right towards you. I dont know if narcissism is the right word for people who have been brainwashed by a cult because they feel their choices are limited on how they can treat you. Almost everyone believes they're doing the most moral thing regardless if its unfounded.
