So I keep seeing brackish fish and setting up brackish tanks. Something I have not seen is how much salt to put in per ten gallons or how much to add during water changes. What is a formula that would work well?
I like to aim for a specific gravity (think salinity) somewhere between 1.004 and 1.008. Brackish water doesn't have to be exact, as it varies in nature every day. Get yourself a hydrometer or refractometer. Simple to use. Here is an article that I wrote that you may find useful: www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/brackish-aquarium
I keep mine around 1.006 on average. Anywhere between 1.004 and 1.012 would work, depending on the species. Brackish is never exact (because of tides, river flow, etc.).
Hello my name is Keki and I purchased 3 cichlids on a site called Snake River Cichlids and one of my fish just sitting at the bottom of the tank and I’m very worried about him because he’s been doing this ever since I sat him in his new tank so if someone has experience this please tell me what I should do ???
There are even some brackish water cichlids, like the Mayan cichlid, certain tilapia species, and the chromides.
That’s a dope shirt boss

@@TazawaTanks thanks. This article has all the details I have been looking for in one easy spot.
What is the water gravity of a brackish tank? I've been reefing for about 7 years

@@TazawaTanks thanks. I'm thinking of doing a mangrove aquarium with Archer fish, maybe a pufferfish or mud skippers

What kind of cichlid is he? Tank size? Parameters?
