      I prefer no-gi Judo because it works no matter how your opponent is dressed, and it allows you to more easily combine Judo with wrestling (and no-gi Jiu Jitsu which I prefer for the reason mentioned above)

      strictly judo, i love gi, there are so many more options. however i also do a lot of no-gi bjj, so i find no-go is more practical for me.

      Gi should be there otherwise you miss the grabs and using the gi to trap. But you also need to train for getting into a fight on the beach, when people are sweaty with shirts off. I'm not sure, but I always saw grabs as a relationship between escapes and weapons. No gi is an opportunity to manipulate a pressure point. Do you train differently for wearing a winter coat?

      Yes, I like his videos. Especially the ones with him and his dad. Dad always wins. And, it's good to see the old school. You can't see where you're going if you loose site of where you came from.

    Excellent video, love the ideas.
    I play a lot of Uchimata and Ouchi gari and never developed Osoto gari, the small details of defeating opponents collar grip and forcing the circle helps a lot! Also love the Easter egg! oss

    Intersting way to trap the hand. In my day it would get you slammed with tae-garuma.
    Its hard for me to get used to positions that i would consider dangerous, but its a new game nowadays.

    Thanks a lot for the great instructional videos! It's a personal goal of mine to be able to use one of these judo throws in a match. I will practice this system rigourously for my upcoming bjj tournament 😃

    Higashi brand product idea. Bjj gis are a different proportion cut. I can find Bjj gis in other materials but i cant find judogis out of things like hemp or linen, i know comps probably wouldnt let them in but i just want to train in one. Also judo pants, i dont care about the drawstring problems i just want a tougher pair with more reinforcement around the knees and crotch so they dont blow out anymore.

    Hey man great video, very helpful and informative, as always... If you dont mind me asking, why are you wearing the black belt instead of the red

    • @jeremy4155
      @jeremy4155 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Highest ranked person wears it, the others wear black. I'm guessing there was also his sensei in the Dojo, but not on camara.

    Strange question. I notice that after you throw you either get pulled over or you rollout over the person. Is that from the uke holding on to you? I'm asking this because I don't normally see aikido or jujitsu doing that except when the uke is still fighting/defending against the throw.

      I see that in competition judo where the fight is over with an ippon, hence tori staying on his feet isn't important. In BJJ, for example, the fight will continue so we probably wouldn't do that. Not on purpose, anyway!

    • @TheNEOverse
      @TheNEOverse 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For safety. If you don't roll, you can end up dropping your whole weight down on them and really hurt someone. Either uke has to learn to accept the throw and let go, or tori rolls to avoid hurting people.
