One thing I really love about Phil is his sense of humour. He deserves his break with his family now. Time for himself - doing "normal" stuff - that we can sometimes take for granted. We can aspire to be wealthy, popular etc, but without the people you love being there with you, to be your personal "cheer" squad, - what does it really mean?True happiness comes from within - not other people. I really love you Phil.........wishing you the "best"!
@GrooveDoctor77 I think, Phil knows that money or wealth isn't everything. He has said in various interviews that he lives in a very modest house and try to safe his costs (he doesn't want to be like a rich person, because he didn't do all those hits because of ..). I think, the point is that money doesn't bring happiness. If you had many divorces, you can't see your children and it feels like you're not appreciated for your work, the life feels pointless, even if you're rich.
Hi Phil, It's been a while since I last heard about you. It makes me very happy to see you in good health and planning some new work. I just can't wait to listen to the upcoming album. Cheers from Brazil.
Bellissima interview!Great Phill!come back ...come back with in genesis probably still have to go back! with all world you've seen...remember reggio emilia!we like this.
Well, at some point after being in the spotlight for so long and then begin to fade away you get depressed. Elite musicians will have huge ups and downs as it is normal. Phil is no exception to the rule. His music will live on though. I followed him through the 90's. But Seriously is one of my all time favorites.
Well. My 2 Cents re: Phil. His 1st wife left him ~1980(?) when she got involved with the painter who was re-coating their Apt. I don't know if Genesis had blown up in the U.S.A. by then necessarily; but like he said in this Vid they were big in Italy & doing Milton Kynes shows by then. So basically his 1st wife (mother of their 2 or 3 kids) left a Fully Established Rock Star for...a house painter. And it seems with his recorded output since he's never really gotten over that.
@ChiroQuacker What you are showing is, you are willing to go to a video of someone you do not even like in the first place, for the sole purpose of bringing him down. And this is what you call character. Feel free to respond, but I'm finished with this conversation because you're now wasting my time.
@bastidiaz youre right,I think he is still in love with his 3rd wife and to be over 20 yrs older than her may have him feeling over the hill & , may have led to those comments, cant help but worry about Phil, hes my idol, and in a ,strange way I feel like I know him , maybe we fought at the Alamo together, in distant past lives
No one has lived Phils life but Phil. No one knows what he has had to deal with personally emotionally or spiritually Physically or the weigh hes had to carry! So therefore the cynical innuendos should cease!!
Good interview, and i don't know, Phil seems tired, almost exhausted as if he just had six months touring without a break or something.... The record itself is pretty good, i just hope that this is not the last. As for Genesis, well let's admit that there's a very tiny hope...
@daonfpe Words elude me (but to cut to the chase..cause really I'm an un-grateful Asshole..) Prog Rock would'nt be what it is (or was) without Phillip Collins. How to put it? oh yea. He's Tarantella Phil. The thing is..with Genesis..it's such a heady thing. If they were to announce that they were going to do shows (even just a couple) "the Presses Stop".
Despite his wealth he comes over as being kinda sad. He does have problems with his spine but sad that he doesn't seem to have any long term plans. As far as I'm aware no dates in UK to promote this album. He's not that old (59). Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney still have the desire to perform and they are several years older than him

His singing voice is so incredibly different from his normal speaking voice.

An amazing artist. One of the only ones who can do a motown tune and make it sound phenomenal.
Phil so nutty!!!😆
I can't wait to see him at the Electric Factory here in Philly tonight. Wish me luck.
I wasn't talking about playing the drums. I was talking about his WHOLE talent. Singing and song writing.
Nice to see Phil is ok !!!
HAPPY 61TH BIRTHDAY PHIL COLLINS !!!!!!!!!

HE IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Thank u very much."
who don't love him ??
He have a golden voice
yes.

hes pretty goofy, but that makes him all the more epic :D GO PHIL COLLINS
Still waiting for Phil to reinvent himself in a public way. I miss him. By the way, this album is fantastic!
He can play drums depsite what he said. He played the drum on this album having the drum sticks taped to his hands.

@jaggass Yes.
HE LOOK LIKE ROBIN WILLIAMS !!!!!!
his voice has changed a LOT
he looks good for his age!!
lol great interiew...was it something u
said?
Brother Bear? Does he mean 'Koda, Fratello Orso' ?
is the subtitles in italian?
To quote Indiana Jones..."it's not just the age...but the mileage".
Is it "drama school" he says? (I'm not a native speaker)
Sileithel I think he meant that he left grammar school and went to drama school, although I think he said drama school twice.
Robert Stewart It is drama school. The Barbara Speake Stage School.
Phil seems to prefer the retired life than getting into the whole performing process. Half-hearted if you will.
i am not english speaking very well... what do you mean by 'safe his costs'?
@bastidiaz youre right,I think he is still in love with his 3rd wife and to be over 20 yrs older than her may have him feeling over the hill & , may have led to those comments, cant help but worry about Phil, hes my idol, and in a ,strange way I feel like I know him , maybe we fought at the Alamo together, in distant past lives
Obviously, he lacks that energy he used to have back in the 90s.
He did not want to retire- the reason he did is because he can no longer physically play the drums.
Make sure to research facts before making claims.
@bastidiaz thats cool
No one has lived Phils life but Phil. No one knows what he has had to deal with personally emotionally or spiritually Physically or the weigh hes had to carry! So therefore the cynical innuendos should cease!!
Whoa Phil don't hurt yourself now.
Good interview, and i don't know, Phil seems tired, almost exhausted as if he just had six months touring without a break or something.... The record itself is pretty good, i just hope that this is not the last. As for Genesis, well let's admit that there's a very tiny hope...
Do you all think too, that his voice is a bit special ?
@ChiroQuacker You're just a ray of sunshine, aren't you? Why bother?
i came here because of south park. first barbara, and now this douch.
You could say he ended where he began
@daonfpe Words elude me (but to cut to the chase..cause really I'm an un-grateful Asshole..) Prog Rock would'nt be what it is (or was) without Phillip Collins. How to put it? oh yea. @cdamse Yeah go save the world little kid.
Soooo, I read that he cant play drums any more, cause of a spinal thing.
So has he definitely stopped playing drums for good?
What? You never heard of anything happening for the sixty oneth time?
What?? Its exactly the same..
GET BACK WITH GENESIS PLEASE
funny ending.. phils always been slightly goofy
@GrooveDoctor77 you say you're divorced, so is he, is your divorce somehow worse than his because you have less money? i dont think so.....
Despite his wealth he comes over as being kinda sad. He does have problems with his spine but sad that he doesn't seem to have any long term plans. As far as I'm aware no dates in UK to promote this album. He's not that old (59). Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney still have the desire to perform and they are several years older than him
mi sembra un po strano che phil non si possa permettere un i pad.....
It was poor English...it means 'save money' and live frugally and modestly, as he was brought up. Your English is fine.
Can't afford an iPad ;)
the man is tired, well he`s done enough...you`ve earned the retirement phil...off you go
@cdamse wow, go write an essay or a palm.
@ChiroQuacker You know very little, and you've just proved it. Go run and play somewhere else, now.
DONT LAUGH AT PEOPRE WIV DISABIRITIES!!!
he looks very very tired
Phil was heavily drinking at this point, hence his demeanour & lack of energy.
Retirement was his worst enemy
He is tired. Lock of sleep. That so.
@ChiroQuacker Your statements say a lot about your character. I'm not impressed. Move along.
cant afford an iPad? hmmm!!! ok
That was a horrible interviewer, especially at the end. Just t
How can he retire? He's not that old. What a wasted talent.
Wasted?? If that's what wasted talent look like I'll have some😂
