i've actually had this cake for my birthday but i had chocolate frosting in the center and i used a blue frosting for the main. it was allergy friendly and i used a red velvet cake mix
Am always surprised with the cream cheese frosting. My husband's Grandmother's recipe that I obtained in the 50's has a frosting that includes flour and is partially cooked. Don't recall at the moment all of the ingredients. Grandma Clark you will always be in our hearts❤
I love the cream cheese icing but the mystery icing made with flour butter shorting and granulated sugar is absolutely the best so good even on devils food cake!!
I love red velvet cake. I don’t like the ones in the grocery stores and their bakery sections. They just don’t taste the same as the ones that we bake at home
I'm wondering ..... Am I the only person that absolutely can't deal with tons of RED FOOD COLORING? I believe it tastes horrible, similar to a soap, etc. ZERO reason to add so, so much food coloring. It's not good for the body at all. (Beets can be utilized)
I was just commenting on that and the best recipes I have, use more cocoa and just a hint of red food coloring or beets. That food coloring tastes horrible, as well as being bad for you.
I love red velvet cake but I would skip the Holly Berries as a garnish. They are poisonous to humans as well as pets, so wouldn't want to risk having a grandchild grab them thinking they were candy! 💙
I've been makin' my grandmother's red velvet cake recipe for years. How many of y'all have tried it too?
Once but made it into cupcakes thanks for sharing take care 🎂🧁🎂

Is the coconut optional? I don't really like coconut unless it's fresh.
More chocolate is so much better than all that food coloring. That way you don't need too much. The taste of that food coloring is horrible.
