If you love your beer, pubs and massage parlours, Brunei is not the place for you. But if you like to avoid crowds and take a step back from the hustle and bustle of your hectic life, then Brunei is for you. I like to tell my foreign friends that it's a place to do nothing, although there's a lot if you research well. Sure, some might find it boring, but many have found it a blissful experience. I'm not even gonna talk about shopping or nightlife, your money is safe from that, but I can't guarantee that you'll not be tempted to spend it on food because it's really cheap! Here's my list of must-go eateries/cafes/restaurants in Brunei; 1. Jing Chew (Chinese Kopitiam - buns/pastries) 2. Thien Thien or D'Harith (Chicken/Duck Rice - Chinese) 3. Aminah Ariff or Liyana Restaurant or Nasi Talam (Brunei - Ambuyat) 4. Kaizen or Excapade (Japanese) 5. Pondok Sari Wangi (Indonesian - Seafood) 6. Salted or Batches or Roasted Sip (Cafe - Coffee) 7. Gadong Night Market (as seen in the video) 8. Ice Bar Shabu Shabu 9. 1 More Pizza or Napori Pizza 10. Veggie Recipe or Aura by TienSing (Vegetarian)
Even though it is legal tender, a lot of singaporeans nowadays are not aware that brunei money is actually usable in singapore. you can easily use singapore dollar in brunei, but trying to use brunei dollar in singapore now is like a gamble with some people upright rejecting them.
Wow amazing, to see all that just makes me want to go there from the UK. Some of my Gurkha friends were based in Brunei and they all said how nice it was there, I certainly have no issues respecting different countries ways. Its more interesting following how they live and not expecting them to do as you may do in your own country anyway. This area of the world is so amazing to me, everything is just so different, and so good too!
Thank you for bringing us along. The interior of the floating kampong house is beautiful and something we don’t expect. This really opens up my eyes ❤❤❤
Wow wow wow! Thos is an eye opener to those never visited brunei. Some NS guys only . I too want to go the rustic and modern facilities there. Huat agh!
As for the thick slices of sashimi (and generally big sushi sizes), Bruneians tend to prefer that way because we like our food to be big lmao. Locals will complain if it is small because we want to be full.
Hi Ghib,, wow,, i hv never been to Brunei, maybe will plan to visit one day,,, wow the 7 star hotel, looks like a kingdom, so Big n magnificent,, nice food too,, Subarashi,, Nice vlog Ghib, Huat Ahhh ,, 👍😅
I highly recommend staying at Lakiun Hotel. The air there is incredibly fresh and the night amazingly peaceful. You will grow younger by twenty years just by staying there and exploring the area for three weeks!
I remember going to that sane house years ago during the RNR after my Brunei excersise. Brings back many memories, mostly memories of being in the jungle though 😂
I have always wanted to go to Brunei! As a child, my father used to talk about him living there for a short while as a young man. ( He was a good mechanic and i thought he may have worked and fixed the Sultan's Amercian made cars, could be wrong) Have wanted to walk the streets he walked on when he was alive. This is amazing!!! Thank you! I can now see what it is like through your video! I read somewhere you can meet the Sultan and his family once a year in the past and they provided food. Not sure if it is true.
All the food looks super delicious!!!!! I've tried deep fried sushi before and it tasted so good! Never knew deep fried sushi can be so delicious! Thanks for another awesome video ghib buddy :) Thumbs up!
Nice video Jit pun lang Ghib! Opening our eyes to another neighbour and learning about the culture and livelihood. Also learn another word from Ghib, haolian-ing! 😂😂
if you were shocked by the deep fried sushi, american sushi would blow your mind. the only similarity between american sushi and kapanes is that there is fish in it. its not uncommon to be like 5 ingredients in one roll and then for it to be covered in panko and fried.
Once upon a time in the early 70s, the Bruneian, Malaysian and Singaporean $ could be used in any of the three countries without the need for forex conversion.
I did and it was unique! But couldn’t include it in the video. If I had included everything the video would be an hour long 😆 so many cool things I couldn’t include
Brunei Darussalam(Abode of Peace),the Green Heart of Borneo, a Muslim Malay Monarchy(M.I.B). You'll NEVER get hungry in Brunei(unless you want to). Possibly the most peaceful and serene country in S.E. Asia if not the whole world and Bruneians are the "chillest" people ever.

Unlike other travel videos, I liked yours because there are more cultural elements in it. I'm looking forward to more videos like it.
Awesome, thank you!
Bro going places, getting sponsored by a country. Awesome!

Brunei sounds like a very chill, stress free place 😌 Wonder if any Singaporeans retire there

you can call a number to report them

食べ物がどれも美味しそうだし、夜カフェやそこのケーキの大きさにもビックリです!

Very very nice episode. I am inspired to visit Brunei as I have never thought of visiting. Will go there one fay
I once received a Brunei note as change, mum told me it's acceptable and I just kept it till now as keepsake never to use it 🤭
Brunei is truly amazing. Thank you Ghib san for the recommendation. The food is awesome.

Ghib-san, u look absolutely charming in the traditional Malay wear! Your dancing is good too!❤😂
Thanks 🤣
Your content make brunei is diverse...well done bro
Love this kind of travel series!! The food looks so delicious

Thanks Ghib, thanks for this video. I want to visit Brunei now. Do you have the contact of the tour guide, Anwar? I would like to book him too. Thanks

Hello, I checked you in at Qing Yun 😂👋
Loved this, it brought back memories from visiting Brunei 26 years ago. I also visited Kampong Ayer. 😃
your video makes me want to travel to brunei!
The Currency Interchangeability Agreement (the Agreement) was established in 1967. Sorry math not mathing heh heh heh
I was just looking up a few days ago whether I could use SGD in Brunei, what the heck coincidence gods
Hmm... Tapai, fermented rice. Wish it easier to find it in Singapore
Wow so interesting. I would love to visit and try the food

Yeah, generally, you can visit the palace during Raya/Eid and you will be given food.
I hope you can find the streets he walked one day. Cheers!
Was his nick name called Lai Fai? If so where do you guys live now?
@@Abraham-uk4xy I don't think so. We live in California.
Yo! I really enjoy your clips.....good show my friend.
I do not know why I sometimes feel so full watching all the food and eating in your videos. ; )
temburong hotel is 8 star hotel ! Super spacious and luxury.
i never had the urge to visit burnei until now!
Wow this is so cool ... i have never known about Brunei before. Thanks for video. Love it
Wow. I've never been to Brunei. So interesting... considering how close it is to Singapore.
In Spain we have coffee after dinner too (not for the same reason), typical to order a coffee at a restaurant after having dinner
How long did you stay there for?

Thank you for visiting Brunei, I hope this brings more exposure to Brunei tourism
Welcome Back. So interesting
👍🌷💙🤍
Singaporeans should also know that the Brunei currency can also be used in Singapore
Interesting and informative video.. thanks!
Maybe I can consider Brunei, but go for a homestay if possible if I want to go on a budget.
Totally!
Wow I feel like visiting Brunei now. Experience new things other than Jb hahahah😅
nice video. thanks for visiting Brunei.
Brunei iş ❤ it's quite amazing here 🇧🇳🇵🇭
solid video! the food all look yummy!
It was!😆
The architecture is so majestic.
Interesting fact, you won't encounter any traffic lights when you take a 22km car ride from the Brunei airport to the Empire Hotel.
Bro, you are making me wanting to visit Brunei, aside the fact that alcohol is illegal there.
Haha Good news you can bring them in! But must declare beforehand and drink them privately (inside hotel room etc).
Great video Ghib.
Go to Kempinsky Bali that luxury best in SEA
During Ramadan, about 10-12pm, I like to lepak at kafe for pre-sahur.
Well done bro 👍👍👏👏👏
Very unique share! Going places Ghib San!
You make me wanna visit Brunei.
Have fun if you do end up visiting😆
to be honest, that 7 star hotel looks so gaudy and outdated for modern times.... just looks kinda cringe ...
The Total cost need for this tour?
“Asian don’t eat rice”, Love the comments!😂
Wah.. the hotel so nice! The food looks so good! I wonder how much per night. Must be expensive since their currency is the same as Singapore. 🥲
ブルネイへようこそ!日本人交換の友達がみんな帰国してしまったので連れて行けなかったのが懐かしい 🇯🇵🥹

I like the hotel. So atas. Good video. How is the transportation? Do we have to charter a van throughout our stay?
I recommend renting a car or joining a tour but you can also book taxis via app!
As a Bruneian, bus are okay but the most reliable is Dart which is an app taxi service and it is cheaper than regular taxi too.
Random comment but where do you get your white t-shirts from haha
Most are from Uniqlo🤣
Once upon a time in the early 70s, the Bruneian, Malaysian and Singaporean $ could be used in any of the three countries without the need for forex conversion.
Yeah I was surprised to learn that too!
The tour guide and Ghib san look so similar😄
sure the prawn is caught locally ? last time we cross river there also never seen one so big.
Tell us how much your meals costs.. thanks
Gotta love how much of the culture was showcased
hahaha, got "wok-hey"
I was wondering why your guide looked familiar. He was in Aiken's video in Brunel too 😊
Everything looks good, delicious food.😊😊😊
Brunei so interesting 😮
Wow they have so many type of ways to make rice better 😋😋
Ghib sound excited when talking about adventure but more excited when talk about food😂😂😂
How you know🤣
ブルネイって確か石油で潤ってる国やんね?
The best and worst thing about Brunei is how few people there are.
It just depends on the hours to be honest, Brunei can be busy when it is pass working hours or even break time.
Pretty sure many hawkers and shopkeepers will refuse Brunei ringgit 🤔 not everybody knows of the 1-1 interchangeability
Yeah, even when I went to Singapore as a Bruneian, we still had to use Singaporean dollars.
@@miragebangbravern I think Bruneians know about SGD but Singaporeans don't know about BND
oh wow
I see the word Brunei Tourism 😁
You went to Brunel and didn't try the ambuyat..?! 😅
I'm pretty surprised about this too!

@GhibOjisan Ok I'm glad you did!
Ojib Zojisan, I didn’t know Brunei 🇧🇳 has Chinese restaurants ?
Plenty actually.
You though Brunei has no Chinese population?Anywhere there is a Chinese community, for sure there will be a Chinese restaurant.
WE LOVE BRUNEI 🔥🔥🔥

nice video😊
Ghib, at 26:51 you were pointing to the gongs with your index finger. In Brunei, pls point with your thumb!
Wow.... improved with sponsor now! And, nice video! 💪🏽🤟🏽👍👍👍😍
🙂👍👍👏👏
If selling alcohol is illegal and banned, where do you get the alcohol that the tour guide was talking about?
Wonder the Julutong Playground Park still around? I bet the water village will forever be there.
Thank you for listing the itinerary. Do you still remember the prices for the food ?
It’s generally more affordable than Singapore!
