  • Setup and review of the seamless HDMI switcher, Revesun HDMI 2x1 Multi-Viewer with PIP. Use this switcher to switch between 2 hdmi inputs and do multi camera live streaming.
    *IMPORTANT NOTICE* Seems the folks at Amazon somehow mixed listings and the one for the Revesun HDMI 2x1 Multi-Viewer with PIP is actually showing (and shipping!) a simple two-port splitter. We cannot find the Revesun HDMI switcher on Amazon at this time (Feb 11/19) www.amazon.com...

    I found this: www.amazon.com/dp/B078NM7S7N , which appears to be a slightly different version, but with a DB9 serial port, from which it's supposed to be able to be controlled remotely. Probably intended for integration into an A/V system, but maybe it has software for control via computer. It also has an IR remote. There also seem to be a couple of models like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B0732XM1Q8 , with "seamless" in the description, and four inputs, which might be worth trying.
    I'd think that with four inputs, you'd want to be able to go directly from one to another, rather than have to step through them sequentially, if you're planning to use them for production switching. It looks like the 4-input model allows direct switching using the remote. Interesting also that it appears you can switch the audio separately from the video, so having audio from the main camera persist when you switch to a different input. That seems like a useful feature if it actually works that way. I have not purchased this one to try - You game, Epiphan? It's only 100 USD.

    Bought a 5x1 HDMI switcher hoping that it would be seamless, but it was not, takes 3 seconds between inputs. So before giving up on this I started reading product descriptions and comparing with my switcher collection (I have three so far) and came to the conclusion that if the switcher does not have a PIP-type feature it most likely is not seamless. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but that is what I am working with as a hypothesis. Anyway, ordered this item on Amazon (www.amzn.com/B07B8QN8FM) and really hoping it will be the good one. Will get back to you.

    • @roccocorsi1835
      @roccocorsi1835 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, the results are mostly positive with the 4x1 switch I have in the link, as switching is fast, latency is very good almost none, and I can not see any tearing. There is one small problem that may or may not impact you. When in full screen mode (it has multi-view PIP), it is possible to mute or allow the HDMI audio from the input that is currently being displayed. Problem is if the audio is NOT muted, then every time you switch to a different input it shows a small musical note on the top left corner of the screen for 5 seconds, I guess to remind you that the audio is ON and is ON for that input. If you mute the audio, then when you switch to a different input you don't get any musical note overlayed on the output.
      So if you don't need the audio from the HDMI output, then you are good just mute the audio. If you want the audio to follow the current input, then you need to live with the musical note in the corner for the first 5 seconds after switching to a new input.

    • @Epiphan
      @Epiphan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pascal Jean - the Revesun has only HDMI inputs, which means it takes the audio that's embedded in the HDMI signal. However, you could use an HDMI inserter and inject an external audio source into the HDMI signal before sending it to the switcher. Here's one from Monoprice www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13347

      Hi Venicio - I'll post here what I responded in the other video... in that price range - no. We tried others and they were not able to do clean transitions. Stepping up to a Roland VR-1HD is an option. or looking at an all-in-one switching/streaming/recording system like Pearl Mini www.epiphan.com/products/pearl-mini/
