Hi Frank, another great video. We stayed at Western River on our recent trip. Spent a lovely night at the facilities. Marron look tasty, we tried for some but only got 1 small one so threw it back. Next time maybe.
Thanks Dave! WR has a really nice camping area, although it can get a bit crowded in peak times. My sister's blocks are about 2km inland from the cove and have several dams on them, so we're never short of a marron! There are plenty in Western River itself, but you need to make sure you don't try and get them in the Conservation Park section, the Ranger's are pretty hot on it and will fine people. True, maybe next time! PS WR had 200mm of rain last Saturday and the river was a raging torrent, cutting the road from the homestead to the beach - no marron for quite a while I would think.
Ripper video Frank. I’d love to get my hands on some marron. I’ve never seen one in person let alone eaten one. They certainly are enormous especially when compared with the yabbies I catch. Great to see the fruits of your labours, those trees are looking good. Cheers.
Thanks Glen, glad you liked it! Marron are pretty damn tasty, I have to say and imo much better than yabbies! They are sold locally in SA in some shops, but regular supply is always a problem - we are so lucky to have our own. Yes, the local experts predict that the birds will be all over those trees in the next 12 months, so hoping to get some great footage and photos. Good to see our efforts bearing fruit, so to speak!
Thanks for the compliment, it sure is! It's actually my two sister's properties and they don't have anyone stay there except family and friends, sorry. We are all over there at Christmas/New Year anyway.
Can you give me the details on the a drone to buy it doesn't matter that I'm on a disability pension can you give me some details on which drone thing to buy thank your mother for the rabbits
Hi Wayne, I have a DJI Mavic Mini (recently superseded by the Mavic Mini 2). It is small, easy to fly and takes 1080HD video on an inbuilt camera. I got the Flymore package, which included 2 extra batteries and a charger. If you don't want the extra batteries, you can save $100 and get the basic package where you charge the one battery in the drone rather than in a charger. From memory the whole deal was about $700 from JB HiFi. There are cheaper drones around but I'm not sure about their quality - DJI has a good name.

Hey mate, do you allow people to camp on your property? I am visiting over Christmas and your property looks stunning

Hey frank, heading to KI in a few weeks. Are those marron you got on private land? Some absolute crackers there!
Thanks! Yes, from a private dam, but there are plenty of places you can find them that aren't.
