Thank you for this vid. I plan to start using GDSW as soon as they start appearing on the Fenix 6, just acquired. I appreciate the effort that went into making this. All the best.

I've just ordered the Garmin Forerunner 55 (my old Fenix 2 finally died!) with the plan to use the suggested workouts to get me out, moving, losing weight and back to running after not running for 3 years. I've been running for a week without a watch to measure my pace, distance and heart rate. I'm really looking forward to giving it a good! Thanks for the video man, great stuff. 👍😁

Thanks JW. Good on you for getting going again. Yes, I think GDSW is great to improve health and fitness if you don't have specific race goals.

Set a primary race in your watch, train towards it and you can see all suggested workouts for the week ahead, as opposed to standard daily suggestions where you can only see the session on the day!

Great idea John. How do you set a primary race? I would be keen to try it out at some stage.

Create a new race event in Garmin Calendar, sync the watch and that’s it

@@johnstillruns7642 sorry, I did reply but TH-cam deleted as I sent a link... Make sure you have the Primary Race glance and add a race to your calendar, sync your watch. It should ask if you wat to train for the primary race and just accept! Pretty sure this feature is on newer watches only

The daily suggestions give me a schedule on my 955. You have to go to run > ... to the menu > training > workouts > daily suggestions > and it will give you a schedule pending good sleep and rest. Mine always gets downgraded due to poor sleep. 😅

Try magnesium threonate. It changes my sleep by 50 points lol

Interesting video John. I have just complete C25K having not run for a number of years and part way through bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 55 as my very old Garmin was dead. I have avoided the GDSWs firstly because I was sticking to the C25k plan but also because currently the suggested pace is incredibly slow. Two days ago I did what was for me, a pretty slow run aiming for 7:55m/km pace although I ran nearer 7:25m/km, looking at GDSW, it wants me to run 30 minutes at 10.15m/km which is in a really frustrating "zone" between walking fast and barely jogging. I wonder if GDSW works better once you have a better base line running fitness?

Looks like your in Australia too. I've got the forerunner 945 being using the daily suggested workout for the last 3 months I get a lot of base runs and a lot of sprint sessions. I used Fitbit for years but now I like garmin and I don't use other watches now because of daily suggested workouts I find it weird that apple watches and samsung watches haven't implemented something similar.

Yes, UAP. I am in Australia.
Garmin have a little 'magic' GDSW. It's working for me too!

Can you put a race date into the Garmin 955 and goal pace for that race and it'll tell you what workouts to do each day??

Not yet, as far as I know, na.

You can! Been doing this for the past year on my FR255S. In Garmin Connect go to calendar>add event. Find your event, someone else will have uploaded it with GPX data. Once in, make sure your watch has the primary race widget set up. Just add a new widget and find primary race, add. You can now see your next week of suggestions in this widget, and you can also add more events as secondary races to get those factored into your schedule
