Wow i got a call while i was out walking over a new plot of land from my partner that there was a pigeon on my loft! i got home and it was NINJA who we sent to a race some time ago and he is back this is AMAZING!!!!! 57 Days He has been missing for!

I am a old hand at pigeon racing (55yrs.) I never named my birds until after I had retired them from racing. I didn't want to get too attached. This helped with the heartbreak of losing one. It worked pretty good until a bird wins several races or was a pretty splash or odd color. Those birds always caught my eye and would start becoming special, like a school boy falling in love. The main thing is to enjoy your birds and take the very best care of them. Every day give them clean water, feed, grit, and dry a loft. Maney Lofts, "keep than flying" and best of luck to you. I remember Ninja! Perhaps Ninja got quite a scare from Raptors and had to dive into someone else's loft. Take good care of Ninja and yourself. 👍🏼🙂
I am so happy for you. I recently had a cock come back after 10 months. Someone stole him out of the training toss truck. They also stole his chip ring and messed up his feathers. His hen and I are so glad to have him home. He is my only bird to ever have successfully flown 700km in a race.

one of my best racers went missing as a young bird. it was a hard race load lost. he turned up about 7 weeks later. he went missing again in the very first race as an old bird for four weeks, my dad had him back rested for two weeks and sent him to a channel race(France to the UK) he was our first bird back, he then went to 500 miles 804km as a yearling and clocked. that pigeon never went missing again and race our longest old bird races three years running Pau in France 630 Miles 1000km. Ninja welcome home and fingers crossed your going to prove to everyone that babies can make a mistake but learn from it . sorry long comment lol
maybe this guy if he wants to stay here can go back into the race team and hopefully with better results this year aha

If your pigeon has been in a different loft they usually take the rubber ring off to let the owner know that it has been in another loft

If a bird goes down in a race from either hawk ,bad weather etc they re not stupid if they come across a loft they ll take food . Ninja s been kept in I think . Someone's tried to hant her and she made home at the first opportunity. She looks in too reasonable a condition to have been stragging about for two months .
a lot of times another flyer strays in these birds and holds onto them thinking they can home the pigeon. More time than not once the bird is liberated they then fly back to their original loft

I had this one time, where I lost 2 pigeons and they were gone for days, they were Serbian high flyers and one day I saw them flying very high and I ran to my loft and opened all my birds to catch their attention and they came back down, this was 3 years ago when I have proper loft with different breeds of pigeons!! Maybe same thing happened to that pigeon also, he was maybe living off with scraps and with other pigeons, as his feathers condition ain’t looking too healthy and maybe he was flying near your house and his homing instinct kicked in!!!!
