    Great video! I just had the mega score on some rare, low-run indie comics from the 90s. I wanted to display them. Going to go with these.

    I display my books haven’t seen any fade in the last 10 years. I love the art I love looking at it especially modern um but to each their own.

      As long as there is no sun light or direct light from even an inside light, you should be good. But just having a window open can slowly fade a cover.

    I have a split level home the third floor/right above the basement is used as my comic room. I tinted the lone window, and installed LED lights, no longer worried about displaying my books.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! LEDs still have a tiny bit of UV in them, so I just wouldn't keep the lights on at all times, or have them shining directly at the books.

    Just throwing this out there as I’ve had the same concerns about UV and been researching about Mylar... using mylars should be relatively safe to display as it offers UV protection, specifically mylites 2 even lists protection from UV fading on their label. I’ve also recently got some mylar bags for my slabs too which I believe are the same type of Mylar.. either way these ones shown here look great and seem like a nice option for display... regardless if display a book in Mylar I try to not keep it out for too long and rotate em out regularly. btw appreciate your videos, recently found your channel and thanks for keeping it real!

      Thanks for comment and support! Yes you bring up great points! If someone was to display say a CGC book, I would definitely get the Mylar bags to cover them in. I like the idea about switching them out too. But what I like about these is that that they give the UV protection and look super clean at the same time!

    Hi Chris...I wish I could take credit for the idea of how I display my comics but saw it online. I take my comic, scan the cover onto my computer from my printer, then print it off with my printer, then I laminate the paper (to make it shiny), and put it in a top loader. (I'm a teacher so have a laminator) I put the comic back in the bag and board and there is no way of ruining my comic through exposure, and if you think about it, you only show off the cover anyways. Also, since it's on my computer, I can shrink it to fit the size of my phone since I have a see-thru case I have the picture of my comic on the back of the inside my phone case. So I have a "customized" phone case whenever I change out my comic picture.
    I do display my slabs, just make sure they're out of direct sunlight and only for a week.
    Thanks again for your postive contribution and curious...have you heard back from Key Collector?

      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I've heard this idea and I've also printed a couple custom covers I've done to size, put them in Mylar, and hung them up that way. Definitely great ways to get creative!

    I've been using the Non-UV Comic Book Showcases for at least 8 years and I have 22 of them!
    I keep my Neil Gaiman's Sandman #1 in one and I will eventually have a wall display that I rotate my fav Joker Fam cvrs in the others, they are in an area with no windows and with a light that has an UV filter in it later on this year.

      That's a good question. I would look into Crafti Comics frames. They are absolutely beautiful. Check out their website www.crafticomics.com. If you end up purchasing anything, use the code JFAN10 to receive 10% off.

    I know it’s an old video by now, but I’ve been searching for some way to show off my books and this seems exactly what I’m looking for. You mentioned in the comments that you wouldn’t recommended using theses with a bagged and boarded comic, what’s the reason? Thanks for the vids Chris.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question! The reasoning is that they just wouldn't fit. The frame is made for the comic itself to sit within the indentations that hold it in place and it's measures specifically to a book, and not to the measurements it would have with a bag and board.

  • @isaacmaynard7166

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture

      Yes they would! The only one's that probably won't fit are the 100 pagers.

    Is it good for display if you have a sighed comic and you want it two be clear on the back side two so you can see the certificate???

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the back is black. I know folks that will display the COA in it's own frame next to the comic.

    Hey Chris, just wanted to add they have Mylar and poly bags for cgc graded books. I have about 20 graded books and if you bag and tape them right, you can’t tell the difference between slabbed and bagged. Love you channel!

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, indeed! I've been waiting to pull the trigger on some of those Mylars. I have the regular poly bags, I just took them off to show off the books in the video I did yesterday. Thanks for stopping by!

    Yeah for sure I had my CGC’s out for a day one time and I was getting paranoid so put them right back 😂 , I’m gonna get a few of these , also thinking of getting a Closed Cabernet to display my CGC’s so I can open and close it whenever I please so UV won’t be problem , definitely wouldn’t just have them out on my wall haha 💯

    i actually ordered 50 of those here in the Philippines for my collection. I have to wait for a month or 2 for it to reach my shores. My question is that I don't want to touch my raw books with my hands... Can the comics fit with a bag? Or is it even possible to put a bagged and boarded comic inside?

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wouldn't recommend putting them in with a bag even if they could fit, but I suppose if the bag is completely snug around the book, it could be possible. As long as you wash your hands really well with soap and water, a quick handling of the book should be perfectly fine.

    • @depressedonioncuttingitsel319
      @depressedonioncuttingitsel319 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you really don’t want to touch your books with your bare hands you can use cotton gloves to handle them. That’s what I do with some of my more prized comics.

  • @KollectingKaos
    @KollectingKaos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Those have actually been around for nearly 25 years, I used to sell them in my store in the late '90s, I don't think they had the 97%UV protection though, but then I don't think I would trust it anyway. For me the best way to display a book is to scan the comic using a flat bead scanner, print it out in color, stick it in a frame and hang that on the wall. If it starts to fade print out another one! Should I ever open another store that is the way I will display any high value books that I have for sale, so that I don't have to worry about them growing legs as well as them being protected.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good points. I do have a couple of full color print outs of some covers, bagged in a mylar bag and hanging from the wall.

  • @sirroxalot
    @sirroxalot 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey. If I display comics in a room with no windows would I have to worry about UV? I know light bulbs give off a lil' bit.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any time you have any type of light, you have UV rays. It also depends how you are displaying them. If you have them protected by something like this that is UV protective, and you don't have the lights pointing directly at the books, I would not worry.

    For showcasing and staying in the best condition overtime, would you suggest just mylar and board or this case? My main concern is if this case would somehow get moisture inside and the ones I want to display are autographed. I have seen those cases where they have the poly covers and Then the case, but not sure if those covers are PP or PE. Thanks, just found your channel today 👌

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment, Vinny. If you are specifically talking about comics that are on display, I wouldn't just keep them in a mylar bag, or even PP or PE bag. None of those options protect against UV rays. CGC slabs don't protect against UV rays either. So going with the UV protectant Showcase would be one of your best options.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, no bag or board or case is going to protect your book fully from moisture. To avoid moisture or humidity, you have to make sure that the conditions of the environment are kept up.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So you would not display your CGC on the wall but your raw comics you would? Just cause it says UV protect. Were is the guarantee that it does what it says. Show a video in a few years of what they look like then I may think about it.

    • @JernosComicsPopCulture
      @JernosComicsPopCulture  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you buy a car and believe that the brakes work just because the manufacturer said they do? Would you take a prescription from a doctor just because they said you should? If you go to the link in the description, BCW has a video where they show you how they test their product against UV rays. Do you really think a global company like BCW would slap a spec onto their product without it being factual? And it's not a raw comic if it's in the casing. It's as much raw as a CGC book is. They are both in plastic, so I don't understand your logic.
