I don't think it's that. I think people are just so attached to their phones, they genuinely cannot see what is so wrong with this type of behaviour. It is absolutely horrifying whenever I see it, an accident can happen so fast there is no way they would have any time to react. However, they are too ignorant to realise this

As a retired magistrate this driver should be forced to retake the driving test and fined for use of a mobile device along with the relevant points.
I see very little police presence on our roads which, of course, gives the wrong signals to bad drivers. Laws can be passed and rules made but without regulation by police and relevant authorities (DVLA etc) they will not be followed or obeyed and driving standards are bound to deteriorate, as we see in the clip.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, some people genuinely can't go more than 5 minutes without being on their phones and it's actually pathetic. My phone is available to me when I'm driving but it's in my pocket and muted (and even in cases where I forget to mute it, if it pings I ignore it). It's there in case of an emergency, but I'm never using it whilst I'm driving.
Genuinely sickens me when I see videos of people using their phone behind the wheel, and worst thing I think about this clip is this woman had a passenger as well. If I was that passenger, I would have been livid, probably would have gotten out the car personally.

Hi Ashley and sorry to go off topic.
I am a 32 Ton Lorry Driver, and I see a lot on the road.
I was looking for your opinion about people who pass their driving tests and can then go on motorways which they have never driven on?
So would you agree that the law should be changed so that people who pass (with an instructor, or with a friend) should then be given up to 3 months to have to take 2 motorway lessons with an OFFICIAL INSTRUCTOR, and then they are fine after that, if they don't then their licence should be revoked until they do have the 2 motorway lessons.
My reason for saying this is because I notice quite a lot of drivers coming up or down the on ramp to join the motorway.
Then virtually stop at the lines as though they are give way markers, and then start looking back to see what traffic is coming and panic, instead of looking whilst they are driving along the on ramp and adjusting their speed accordingly.
I have had a few moments where I end up braking to let them on as there is traffic on my right so I can't move over, and they brake because they see me, I brake more to leave them room ETC.
Then they join and drive off and I lost most of my momentum and I can only build up my speed slowly and which isn't that fast in a big wagon.
So, it was just a thought I have had many times and I think it should be mandatory to have 2 lessons to see the different driving requirements needed for motorway driving.
Maybe you could do a bit of a tutorial (if you haven't already)? on motorway procedures?
P.S. I used to do multidrop deliveries around Liverpool in an 18 ton lorry so that is one reason I latched on to your channel.
P.P.S. can you also teach us all how to be so relaxed like you are 🤔🤔 😝😝

And judging by those incidents of rolling back, seems she hadn't applied the handbrake the whole time she was stopped. That and the fact that her daytime running lights were on the whole time does indeed suggest her car was "running" the entire time whilst she chatted like a magpie on her phone. And what a place to park! This is all so so wrong on so many counts. That last bit of lengthy reversing whilst not even looking back was quite something! I shudder to think how her general attitude behind the wheel is as well as her standard of driving. And yes, the Ford reversing wasn't the best either. I was quite concerned for your car there!

I agree, and car in-built screens are also very dangerous in my opinion. They may be bigger and higher (and also legal) but when using one you’re not looking at the road, or if you are, it’s with peripheral vision which is not enough. They could probably be used safely with a quick glance but it’s so easy to get distracted for a little longer than is safe. So this woman is blatantly behaving awfully, but people need to be conscious of the more cryptic dangers too which are every bit as lethal.

Odd Question Ashley, If you pass your test in an electric car (Soon to be the only cars available for sale), do you just get an auto licence? What will happen to all the teenagers who can only afford to drive older manual cars? Just a thought for a new video?

Unfortunately this is why we need to return to the Bobbys on the beat way of policing the streets. CCTV isn't a remedy because that relies on the crime having already happened and it's also about providing a deterent. People will behave better when they know there is a police officer in the area and their partner who can arrest them or at least give them a telling off and a vetbal clip round the ear. I'll be happy to pay a bit more in taxes to have safer streets like this and a neighbourhood police officer or two who knows me by name in an old fashioned sort of way. People will grumble but if you've got a clean conscience then you have nothing to fear.

I think this driver's blatant disregard for other people's safety should be dealt with by disqualification.

Great video, using your phone while driving is worse than drink driving, yet a lot of people do it, and it's illigal

As a motorists you still see drivers each day on their mobile phones. However I am also a motorcyclist which gives you a unique vantage point, particularly when filtering past stationary traffic, e.g. in a queue for traffic lights. Almost without fail I will see motorists using their phone, often trying to secrete the phone in their lap, while waiting.

Sadly, It is not just in Liverpool. I see so many drivers using mobile phones in the car. Only this week, I had a van right on my tail in heavy but fast-moving traffic approaching the accident blackspot that is the Winnall Roundabout outside Winchester. (Where the A34 ends and joins the M3 Motorway via a traffic-light controlled roundabout). People just don't care.

A whole bunch of years ago, when use of a mobile phone whilst driving had just became a traffic offence under Queensland (Australia) law, I got caught and was fined a bit over AUD330.
This is what happened:- I had called someone who I had to meet on a job site somewhere but he had a habit of speaking softly and I didn't have a bluetooth connection on my phone. The speaker wasn't loud enough, so I picked up the phone and put it up to my ear and drove along a road looking for where he was at. He said he was in a shopping centre down the road a bit and eventually came to it and drove straight in and parked. But a police car followed me in and stopped next to me. The 2 policemen got out and approached me and said that the saw me on the phone whilst driving. As I knew I had, I didn't try to argue the case. After they gave me the ticket, I asked them where they saw me using my phone. They said I was going one direction, they were going the other and saw me on the phone, they did a U-turn and followed me all the way (about a km, I guess) into the shopping centre where we were all now at. I said that that was fair enough, as I WAS SO DISTRACTED TALKING ON THE PHONE I DIDN'T SEE THEM AT ALL! If a kid had had stepped out in front of me, I shudder to wonder if I would have seen him/her at all. I have no pity for anyone caught using their phone whilst driving. I think the fine is now about $1100, thereabouts. I lot of money to waste on a stupid phone call, I'll give you the drum...

Once I was on the main road and this woman emerging from the side road didn’t even look and pulled out. I’m not surprised, she had her phone on her and didn’t even bother to look or say sorry when she saw me

I literally see this kind of behaviour every single day.
    Most often by the youngsters.
Surely that’s driving without due care at the very least.
