Thanks ever so much
16:00 MAutoAlign from Melda Production is very helpful for phase-alignment.
Brilliant as always thanks, are the overhead mics bi-directional like a parallel Blumlein pair? Or are they cardioid? It's years since I recorded a drum kit so I'm used to seeing the spaced pair as you mentioned....
That was the same question I had as soon as I saw the setup.
@@kobuk Hi Sean, yeah it's interesting, isn't it?? If I find out I will let you know!
Typically I use overheads in Cardioid!
@@Producelikeapro Thanks Warren....I thought that might be the case with them being more directional, I think it was the config that got me thinking about the 'Blumlein" thing!
@@kobuk Hey Shaun, apparently they are cardioid!
😊
Marvellous!
:)
Thanks ever so much Audrey!
David had a gift from Gordon Shumway it seems (16:39), lucky him x).
Same from an Alien Life Form also (25:31). So many private patrons ^^.
11:19 - the camo makes sure that resonance won't find the kick mics.
If we were in a field maybe? LOL
Haha indeed The Song Academy!
The overheads seems a little bit odd. Because in a setup like this, you would get like a front/back stereo image from the kit instead L/R. Or do I miss something here?
How rec midimetal
:❤😊
Marvellous!
No hate at all but I feel like David does a lot of super petty stuff that could easily be done with just one step or isn't even audible at all. Like the processing of that snare: EQ boosting a shitload of high end into an EQ boosting another shitload of high end, adding 1,125% of harmonic distortion and then sending it into a super weird constellation of a parallel compressing insert (?).
I was kinda sceptic but remained curious watching him doing these moves but when the mix plays at 22:22 I could't hold back my laugh to honest.
Where can I listen to the full song?
Also the recording "trick" with the overhead mics seems to be a little weird - aren't these mics recording in mono? How can that constellation prevent the kick to be too much on the left and right channel when the tracks are going to be panned 100 l/r? Plus: How can he say at the beginning he's going to mix a Industrial Metal Band when this is obviously just some mediocre metalcore band?
Tip with the shell mic placement was good tho.
I guess I'll stick with some other recording dudes on TH-cam..
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😮😅😅i8😊😊😊o😅😅
Thanks ever so much!
So basically the samples are super predominants for snare and drum that you could not showing us all the mic placements :) I'd really liked to listen a real drum for metal...but sample...are simpler :)
There are a ton great drum recording videos on YT. This is not one of them.
What is the track name? Killer sounds
