Where the Byrds achieved commercial success with their rendition of Bob Dylan's Mister. Tambourine Man which further heightened interest in Laurel Canyon.
Great photos. I love all these bands and troubadours and I would of loved to have been there. But, face it. Many of these musicians got rich, started families had children.Too bad we can't stay young forever.
I always find it interesting that in august 1969 the zenith of hippiedom was happening at Woodstock on the east coast and a few days earlier on the west coast where it all started Manson and then Altamont killed it.
With the murders committed by the Manson family that put a fear into the residents of LC, they knew they were public figures and the open door polices changes, if they didn't know you you where not allowed to stay and hang out. When those artistes started to make good money they felt that security and privacy became much more important (can you blame them) Also they started to grow up and there focus changed.
It had run its course and was taken as far as it could go and lots contributing factors weight in on it too bad some great music came out of it but all good things must come to a end there will never be anything like it again ✌️
Without talking about the birth of CSN and Joni Mitchell's Blue, which both were a huge part of the music scene in Laural Canyon this story misses some vital facts. Just to give two examples
