      Thank you! I have it torn down now, going to paint, I lowered the engine and trans 4 inches. I wanted to get less angle on the drive shafts.
      Thanks for the comment!

    I bought a '65 with the OHC and 3 speed on the floor in 1981. There was little mod support for them then. The Cherokees and Gladiators had wider stance and axles, and those were supported. I pulled the leafs for rea-archig and an additional spring fabbed ( at a blacksmith shop ). Needed rear drums, and good luck finding them. So I used Ford f-150 drums and had the center hole cut larger on a lathe .

      I used ford high boy 3/4 ton axles and bj’s off-road 6 inch springs and did the Dana 60 disc brake conversion

      Thank you Jason, I'm rebuilding a 19 ft catamaran at the moment. It's a retired NARCA boat I hear it was timed at 35 knots in it's day.. that was in the 1980's when she was raced. i'll be posting some pictures of that project soon. Hey thanks for watching. Do you have a jeep or anything your working on?

    • @WildernessExpression

      gospeedracer40 Well right now I have been building a Square body Chevy K20. It was a 6.2L diesel and that was removed and a well tuned 454 Chevy installed . Munci 4sp sm465. I have always loved those Wagoneer's . And I am thinking of that for my next build. I also was looking into the Cummins swap. I would like to build a kind of ultimate hunting and fishing rig that is still very drivable to go across country . Will hold 4 guys and all the gear plus gets better mileage than my current BBC.

    • @gospeedracer40
      @gospeedracer40  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Clemmer yep that was my idea in this build. although I've yet to take it hunting I was planning a hog hunt. in north..I live in so cal area so if I go hunting it's always out north. Utah or? I've given it a full deep sand test and mud too.I wanted to weld up a nice custom front winch bumper this summer and some light bars.Have you ever used those LED's? i have some 8 inch round lights 100 watts each. I was thinking of those because I wanted to stay with all round lights>

    • @WildernessExpression
      @WildernessExpression 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      gospeedracer40 I have only used the led's on small things , They did work great though, I have a set on a old golf cart i have for woods running, i use them on my Ice fishing house, they use hardly a amp of electricity. one car battery and a $50 solar panal will last forever. i have them in my topper with there own battery and a solar panel right now. I use the topper on my truck as sort of a cabin, all set up in there with lights, cot, ect . I have seen some great bumpers with the lights built in them, super for protection, and i personally dont like things hanging off my trucks to get ripprd off from branches Question on your build, I read you had to do a 3" body lift for clearance, how big of suspension lift did you have to go? What do you think the minimum could could of gotten away with ? I am not looking for a super jacked up rig, I actually want to keep it low for hills and clearance, I would like to run the Humvee 37" take offs, there cheap and great on and off road. .

    • @WildernessExpression
      @WildernessExpression 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Clemmer I am looking to do a build that has a nice size tire, with relatively low height, those big mud tires are junk in the snow and ice , I live in central Minnesota and do most of my fishing /hunting in the North woods by the Canadian border. I also want to be able to tow a boat or atv's and such .

  • @gospeedracer40
    @gospeedracer40  10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks! I'm working on lights and cameras. new fog lights, winch plate, rock slides and installing some 8 AWG wire up under the headliner for relays for roof lights. I want to have some bright infra-red lights for night vision equipment. just welded up all the holes in the roof area from the old rack and runners.

      I've not calculated MPG yet, I will soon after I get it registered. As far as the springs, I used the stock spring's and bastard packed them.. I added 3 from the rear. It seems to be perfect choice for me I took it on a few of the hills behind us. The rears are BJ's 6 inch over stock. Thanks for watching.

      I just got the data back while we had high temps we got 23.25 miles per gallon while today at temps in the mid 70's we got 25.3 on the same rout, small hills and freeway speeds of 60. mph from Murrieta to lake Elsinore and back winds from the southeast so while on the way back I had 5-7 mph head winds. speeds and distance were recorded via GPS.

      ***** yes it does, I think I got it from Jcwhitny online store, I'll go look at the box for you. The kit is from "Prothane".here's the best way to do it you will need one can of PB-blaster or any good rusty bolt breaker heat with butane or propane torch. use a good wire brush to remove scale too. don't be surprised if the welded nut breaks loose inside, if it happens cut with die grinder and tack weld section back in. I only had one. you can lift body, section at a time. I used two 8 ton hydraulic jacks and a 4x4 post. make sure all wires are lose from body. let me know if you need more info,okay

    Hey ho... I am looking to get a Jeep, Cherokee or pickup style, and take it to Alaska and back. The trick is....I want to sleep in the back and I am 6'3".
    Does anyone know the length of the bed on PickUps and the interior length of the old Cherokees or Wagaoneers? One with a 6' bed or longer?
    Thanks

    • @gospeedracer40
      @gospeedracer40  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 5'10 and I can sleep in the back of mine but I have to have the rear seat folded up and tail gate down. However there are some real neat roof mounted beds with ladders to gain access if you came across an old wagoneer. I would do that if I were you. Down side to having a truck in my opinion is not much room in the cab so everything has to go in the bed and you will need a camper too!
