In 1962 we passed the square. There were older gentlemen sitting in park uniforms as I recall. They were sanctioned by the park service and they would go in your car and describe the battlefield for an hour or two for a fee. I recall eating at the Dutch Cupboard. I still have a Dutch Cupboard cookbook that belonged to my mother. I ate there last in 1970 and when I returned in 1997 I asked where it was and they said it had been demolished. I stayed a few times at the Quality across from the Shoney's I liked their salad bar and ate there often but I believe that's gone too. Thanks for the tour Gettysburg always bring back pleasant memories.
Nice video. I remember going to The Lincoln Diner at 1 am to eat pancakes/eggs after various frat parties. Those were the days! Interesting that you were a music major. Voice or instrument? I brought my drum set to the college and started a rock/pop band. We played the frats and at Wolfe's Pub (now The Pub and Tavern on Lincoln Square).
FYI, there's a couple from Tennessee who have made a number of nice videos on everything to do with Gettysburg. Their YT channel is "J and B in The Hills." Good videos on the battlefields, local businesses and hotels.
