English Bulldog is the best one
We love Bulldogs in our family but never owned one until a little later in life. We started with an American Bulldog and she was the epitome of the breed description, including being same sex aggressive with other dogs. The AB is a fantastic family dog and is inherently protective of the family without needing professional training. If you allow a person into your home, the AB recognizes this and behaves accordingly. If you are not overly friendly towards a person, the AB recognizes this and remains on alert or will go into protective mode as needed, all without training. One Bullmastiff we had was also exactly like the breed standard and a fantastic member of the family. If you're looking for a low energy dog that will be a good guard dog and family member, the Bullmastiff is a great choice. One of our other Bullmastiffs was a rescue that had received some professional training at some point in her life and she was an absolute dream. She was really protective of our family and home, even more so than the Bullmastiff we had from an 8 week old puppy. Is the Boston Terrier considered to be a bulldog? The dog in the video that was called a Boston Bulldog looked like a Boston Terrier. These were all beautiful dogs and some of them were new to me, the Catahoula Bulldog was mesmerizing and extremely interesting. Looks like it's time to do some research and buttering up the wife, lol. Thanks for a wonderful video.

The Boston Terrier is actually not technically considered a true bulldog, even with the "bulldog" name. They were originally developed by crossing bulldogs with smaller terriers, so while they share ancestry, Boston Terriers are now their own distinct breed.

I really like what I've heard about the temperament of the Bull Mastiff,but I don't think I could handle that drool from an indoor dog. If it didn't drool from what I've heard it might check about all the boxes I want checked.

We may have just been lucky but the Bullmastiff's that we had did not drool too much. Actually, they didn't drool much at all. I've seen Bullmastiffs that drool like crazy and I've seen some that really don't drool much at all. It may be the line or the breeder but if the Bullmastiff checks your boxes, you should get one, they are phenomenal. They are low key, low energy, protective and lovable. I would not say that our Bullmastiff's didn't drool much if it weren't true. Speak to some reputable breeders and look at their dogs on site, you will probably find what you are l looking for and it will probably be easier than you think. Good luck. 👍

American Bulldog is my favorite. I use to have Boxer/American Bulldog. They're great dogs!

you missed out the Ca de Bou or Mallorquín bulldog - a relatively rare breed
The british Bull dog and the Continental Bull dog known as the Conti also the old old Bull dog and english Bull dogge
The Frenchy and English could probably benefit from a few controlled out crosses to make them healthier. Maybe a a generation of Staffy then take it back and see if the results are good. That is,unless the English and Frenchy have a bigger gene pool of healthy than I suspect they do. This smashed in mussel thing has gotten out of hand. Now I think the Standard/bully Hybrid American Bulldogs that I've seen Pictures of has a good structure. If I had the right type of place,or the time to put its hunting instincts to work the catahoula Bulldog would be interesting. But for a family pet I might consider a olde English if I could find one that was healthy but not to high energy. I like the looks of some of the Hybrid American Bull dogs I've seen online. But I'm not sure how high energy they are and I don't have the Right kind of set up for a High Energy dog.

Not sure about friendly pets... some of those breeds mentioned need a hella lot of training and socialising or they will be a very dangerous dog to own...

English and French bulldogs have too many health problems, not good dogs. Way too expensive.
I have had my French bulldog for 9 years and she has never had to go the vet for any health problem. That’s wrong.

@@moriyokiri3229 If she's that healthy her genetics probably should be introduced somewhat heavily into the French Bulldog world. If the correct sire is chosen that should have been accomplished without over using her.

Its not an English bulldog ' a british bulldog ' English bulldogs are staffordshire bull terriers ' & we have the other type 'ie' English bull terrier with the long snout 😁
