  • Buying a Porsche Panamera? Then this is the video to watch. In this depreciation and buying guide of the Panamera, I will show you how the depreciation curve looks like and how much the car loses each 1000 miles. Moreover, I will show this for the base model, the Panamera s, the Panamera gts, Panamera turbo, Panamera gts, and the e-hybrid models. We will also zoom into the V8 R market to figure out what a fair purchasing price is.
    You can contact me at fourwheeltrader@gmail.com if you would like a personalized analysis.
    The depreciation rate for the Porsche Panamera can fall into two categories; very low or very high. It’s a Porsche and that means that it comes with a strong brand appeal and recognition. After all, it gives many supercars a run for their money. However, its also a big luxury car. Those usually depreciation fast.
    To find out how fast the Panamera depreciates, we will analyse the market. First, I will run you through some general market statistics for the base, S, GTS, and turbo model. After this, we will do a deep dive for each market segment and figure out the depreciation per year and per 1000 miles driven. It turns out that the absolute depreciation rates differ quite a lot among the models. Yet, the relative rates are rather similar. After this, we will aggregate the results and compare the depreciation curves for all models. This reveals that, the older the cars, the better value for money the top models offer. Finally, at the end of the video, we will plot the depreciation rates for the Panamera on the depreciation leaderboard.

    I wasnt looking for a panamera however after a test drive I was impressed. 2012 with 46k miles for 34k, changed the brakes & rotors= $1400 took it to a local high performance mechanic for a full tune up and replaced engine mount and a few parts =$3,000...3 yrs later only the headliner is in need of replacing everything else has been great. It's still a thrill when I hit 60 mph the tail comes up, then I hit sport mode, steering tightens, car lowers, throttle output and sound increases as the engine pushes like a Champ! Solid, excellent craftsmanship, awesome handling, & power...it's a Porsche!

      @Robert Flock Not crazy in my opinion. Porsche in general has higher reliability ratings than Mercedes as of late. The Panamera is more of a competitor to the S Class so it’s definitely a step up. Throw in the sweet PDK transmission, 400 HP from a V8 and way more room and it sounds like a good trade off. Be wary of the air suspension option as it is known to have more issues than the standard setup. 37k is a good price for that Panamera right now. Mine is a 2013 P4 with 52k miles and other than a failed ignition coil it’s been 100% reliable.

    • @thomashelm6931
      @thomashelm6931 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@mr_jaimebasurto the Panamera is equipped with a PDK transmission, one of the most reliable automatic transmissions in the market. I say automatic, but it has a manual mode with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, to change gears. Arguably, nothing is bulletproof in the world of cars. But the PDK is the transmission that most current 911's use (with the obvious manual transmission, also).. The PDK is known for its rapid shifting of gears, even excelling the manual shift transmissions. Most of the cost will be in high mileage cars especially if kitted with carbon ceramics which I have as standard. they just have to be well cared for with a good history and always serviced as listed and getting a specialist garage in high end super cars to service which is costly but cheaper than the dealer. I’ve a 2014 turbo s 970.2 with nearly 31k on it and have a bumper to bumper warranty to cover parts failure but it still needs maintained due to wear and tear. They burn oil as listed in handbook but over last thousand miles i haven’t noticed this at all. I had Porsche take the car pre purchase and got a 14 page report on it with exhaust clamp bolts corroding and a new air con condenser for passenger side and a major service needed including brake fluid change which the dealer completed. I highly recommend this it’s peace of mind before u buy a money pit.

    Where I live, need to wait at least ten years for a used Panamera to be affordable. So if I want to buy a used 2018 model, I'll have to wait until 2028 to buy one. Although this might be difficult on the US numbers because shooting brakes are not sought after in the US as much as they are in the EU where estate cars are far more reasonable.

    You can’t really do this depreciation exercise with cars that are so confinable like most Porsche’s are. The original sales price can differ 30-40% down to options. The GTSs doesn’t have that many options as the GTS is a model that includes a number of options that has to be ordered with say the Turbo. Actually the 971 depreciation can be higher than shown here… and the GTS model is not the model with the highest depreciation to my knowledge.

    • @fourwheeltrader
      @fourwheeltrader  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually works pretty well for new cars because it's about the average depreciating. The actual number might differ between high and low spec cars. I have several videos in which i evidence that this approach gives quite a good approximation of the actual average depreciation.

    You cannot compare 911 to Panamera, Macan, or Cayenne. These cars will always depreciate, like normal premium cars. Panamera does not depreciate more than S-class or 7 series. BTW People who buy it don't care about depreciation. Neither am I, I needed a daily driver for me and my family, I didn't want to go for one of the SUVs, so I ordered Panamera. I need the car, I buy it. If I was looking for less depreciation I would have to drive a house not a car.

    so after all that data your conclusion is depreciation is "high". How about recommending some specific car for the best value? "I recommend 2014 GTS" for the best value and least likely depreciate further" or spcify a range of years. You may be able to turn specific recommendations into referal income or commission on sales.

    • @fourwheeltrader
      @fourwheeltrader  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually, when i'm covering one specific model, i include such a recommendation at the end of my videos. Sometimes i even point out specific cars which are for sale. However, price ranges are quite large for the panamera range. This makes it difficult to give a 'universal' recommendation. In general, the older the car, the better value for money you get with the top models. Therefore, a GTS isn't a bad choice.

    Why a comparison to types of cars that aren't its competition? How does it stack up to other cars in its class? If I can't fit the dogs into a 2+"2" let alone a 2 place and only have one parking space, the final analysis isn't relevant, nor good statistical modeling when you get down to it.

    • @fourwheeltrader
      @fourwheeltrader  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It provides a context to the numbers and with this fascilates the attachement of value judgement. The group of cars you compare it to merely determines how you should interpret the value judgement. I.e this rate is high or low relative to the cars in group xyz.

    Porsche failed to compete in the GTS/Turbo market more in this generation. They're really underpowered to the rivals and they didn't differentiate from those base models as usual. Nowadays it's unacceptable. As a result they sell less and less Turbos.

    • @andyliu8600

      Issue is that the hybrid model are basically the king in this model. Porsche made the 4 e hybrid almost as quick as the gts and then brought out the 4s e hybrid to be even faster then the 971 turbo
