About The Book of Mormon:
Winner of 9 Tony Awards® including Best Musical! Called “the best musical of this century” (Ben Brantley, The New York Times) and “the monster hit Broadway’s been desperate for” (Michael Riedel, New York Post). The Book of Mormon follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. Described by Jon Stewart of The Daily Show as “a crowning achievement, so good it makes me angry” and by Entertainment Weekly as “the funniest musical of all time,” see it now or find yourself asking, “Dear God, how do I get tickets?” (Village Voice). Contains explicit language.

As a Mormon myself, I cannot wait to see this musical. You're all getting it wrong. Please listen to the music (which is amazing), it's not offensive to us. This isn't "of the devil" this is of good humor and something to laugh at ourselves about. I applaud these men for such talent they have for making this masterpiece.
Can you explain what soaking is? No one will tell me.
@@rebeccaspratling2865 Basically something that people outside of the church made up to make the church seem "impure". Straight up psyop
@rebeccaspratling2865
😂 you're rotten
You’re going to hell for no reason haha
I'm a latter-day saint. Frankly, I applaud the South Park creators. They show a tremendous amount of love to the people they're admittedly mocking. If you're going to satirize someone, doing it with the good humor and tone that Matt and Trey do is surprising and exceptional.
Well done, boys.
We saw this last night and I have not laughed so much in decades. I had tears running down my cheeks and after a while I didn't even bother wiping my face off. By the last song, everyone was on their feet. It is expensive, but it was worth every cent. The talent was as good as it gets. Ten out of ten for this guys.
So I'm LDS my little brother served in Oslo Norway and they have this play at one of the theaters there which they would sit outside the theater after the performance to give out copies of the book of Mormon to people as they walked out the theater. He said it was pretty fun doing that as people loved seeing real missionaries after the show.
I bet, ya'll were novelties. Heard out in salt lake on playbill it said "you've seen the play, now try the book"
I was a mormon for 9 years and no one hates mormonism like ex mormons. I freaking love this musical :')
I am a member of the LDS Church, who is a returned missionary. Quite frankly i love the musical! Yes, there are parts in the play that i can see some Mormons getting offended by. However, i think it was very clever. "All- American Prophet" is my favorite song. GO Joe Smith!
Are you still in it?
The script, story and all the creative writing of the Book of Mormon honestly deserves its own cinematic adaptation. I think Hollywood could faithfully adapt it into a masterpiece !
I'd love a movie version that expands on some of the scenes and characters
This is too good for Hollywood
Don't let Hollywood touch it!
Went to see the book of mormon a few weeks ago at the pantages theatre in Hollywood, and it is the best musical i've ever seen and one of the best shows i've ever seen, and i'm not into musicals at all, it was really that good. Trey and Matt have proved over and over again with South Park that they are the kings of satire comedy and this play just put them over the top into legendary status.
TREY PARKER IS BRILLIANT. Every single thing he does is brilliant ! I'm drooling in anticipation of seeing this !
The first broadway show I saw was Avenue Q. Just saw the Book of Mormon for the second time. This is a powerhouse of musical comedy, I’m so thankful that I could experience their creations 🎉
I am a devote LDS / Mormon. Trey and Matt are hilarious. Their Mormon humor in South Park is often the way Mormons poke fun at themselves (minus the dum dum dum part of that south park episode.) I find what they do as great fun and if someone gets their panties in a bunch they may need to relax a bit in their attitude towards life.
IM A MORMON And I love these guys!!!!!!
Pog
The age is 19. And a mission is a lot like a religious version of the peace corps and the purpose of spreading the religion is to bring comfort even when things are the toughest. A lot of missionaries actually do service other than preaching the gospel. Some participate in food drives, harvesting crops, and building houses. The Peace Corps was created after and has a very similar model. I plan on serving both a mission with my church and in the Peace Corps. And I still want to see this musical.
"If you don't like what we say, try living here a couple days. Watch all your friends and family die, 'Hasa Diga Eebowai!"
He can't say aids without laughing hahaha. Matt and Trey god i love'em
I’m going to be seeing Book of Mormon later this year and I’m so excited!
Dude, I've seen both South Park the Movie and Team America and I've never fully noticed it until now. These guys really should be doing primarily musicals, particularly when that's pretty much what they've already been doing in a roundabout way.
i have to watch hulu and see the comercial knowing that all my friends are watching that knowing they see it. Judging me! Thanks to you!
i saw this show last night it was amazing this was the 6th broadway show ive seen and it was the best one it was one of the funniest things ive ever seen it was great
Opening night is the day before my birthday, March 25th.
What a coincidence...I can't wait!
I can't see this (don't live in the US), but I'm really looking forward to all the interviews they had BETTER DO next year to promote this. And I also hope it does well and becomes a movie that I can watch over and over again.
Had no idea it was related to Avenue Q. Loved that musical
This needs to be a movie.
THIS IS A GOD SEND
MATT TUCK IN UR GODDAMN SHIRT I STG MATT PLEASE I WILL DO ANYTHING FOR U TO TUCK IN TJAT GODDAMN SHIRT OMFG TUCK IN THAT SHIRT PLEASE 😭😭
I live in Utah and I love South Park. I cannot wait to see this. :)
My Bishop and I are going to see this. We're actually pretty excited.
I'm so pissed that I can't say that. I'm only 13 and I asked my mom, knowing that she would say no. She just stared at me.
Gah, they're so damn brilliant. I know it'll be fantastic.
so how is being 23?
@@realpunkfruit I got the same question
@@realpunkfruit BRUH I WAS JUST ABOUT TO FUCKING TYPE THIS
Yo go see it now!! You don't need permission anymore!! Lol
Hope this comes on DVD since I have no way to see it since I live on the other side of the planet.
"their going to send us letters of love,i cant wait" haha
LOL, chuckle, chuckle, "...send us letters of love...I can't wait." I adore these two.
Creative, funny and most offensive musical! As you can see from the comments..haha I think I'm gonna love these guys! Going to watch the show this weekend! Can't wait!!
they are geniuses. they make a highly intellectual show which pokes fun at modern day problems and political issues, without going over the top and trying too hard.
(cough cough family guy)
The Mormons did embrace it, at least from my atheistic approach with a Mormon friend. She brought me a card from her church one day that read “You’ve seen The Book of Mormon, now you can read the actual thing! Ask me!” and it had the logo for the BOM the guy like jumping 😂😂😂top 5 best moments of my life
I am SUD and peruvian and I am grateful to them for making me laugh! But book of mormon really really and we all SUD know that is not for having fun. On the other hand, that chapter is one of my favorite.
That's absolving humans of their absolute (and ultimately their only) freedom which is to choose how they live their lives. I feel deeply for most of us, this isn't an easy ride we're on but that doesn't make all right to blame a book.
i LOVE reading religious debates on youtube!!! its so much fun watching two people argue about how religeon and ideology are the causes of all the world's problems and yadda yadda yadda, whilst at the same time trying to claw eachothers' eyes out! ive got $50 on the athiests/agnostics! taking all bets!!!
i'm mormon and i fully respect their rights to do whatever mormon stories they want. i bet it'll be funny and that many ppl will be outraged :)
One of the best South park endings ive ever seen haha. Cheeky little advertisement of their own broadway musical. Brilliant
They should release a song already! WE NEED to listen to one of the songs! THE UNIVERSE DEMANDS IT!
I think that the south park movie (bigger better and uncut) should be made into a broadway musical. It would be absolutely fantastic .
@Sleepastray do you know if they will do tours in other locations,i dont live near nyc and well you know how expensive it is to travel there
Can't wait to see this. Cannnn't wait!
@dalphin002
what exactly is the issue? what did they get wrong?
In the broadway special will you be explaining magnets, and how they work?
I can't wait to see this on Broadway--looks like a real hoot!!!
@ELIBOMmobileco Where and when was this on broadway?
I ♥ these guys
brilliant.
I love them. So much.
I hope this gets a dvd release. I can't wait for that.
@chrstilen5 ... I wasn't talking about the movie! I said it - where "it" is virtually anything well-known that's been produced by these particular creators, including the TV show - is NOT a movie - ANY given movie - where you can just avoid a specific scene! You can't AVOID the "the bad parts."
i saw this tonight you must watch this the funniest stuff EVER
Well said
Please bring this to the uk
It's all right. Whatever the truth is, we're all going to know it someday. Try not to let it bother you. (And this is coming from someone who left the church. :-)
I love these guys.
I hope this rocks. Good luck guys.
Bring this show to New Orleans!
I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (nicknamed: mormons) and I served a mission in Africa and I didn't feel like all I learned throughout my life was useless in Africa but completely useful... actually my faith grew stronger there and I know what I shared helped those who were willing to listen...so I'd have to disagree with what he said and I know they are making fun and so forth but it still hurts to have something so treasured in my life be represented wrongly..bu
How can I see this? The “Dumb Dumb” episode on South Park, as I call it, was incredible. I can’t believe people believe that. Although, no different from any other religion.
hey this guy 1:43 kindo look like the kid from the movie up :D
I'm still waiting for *The Book Of Mohammed.*
I can't wait until this comes out. I'll admit, I'm a bit disappointed that neither Matt nor Trey are going to actually be IN the musical (just saw the cast list; they're nowhere to be found), but their creative/musical genius still has my expectations sky-high.
3:01 LMAOOOO
You two are my heroes!
Fun fact: when Mormons get endowed in the temple, they receive a new name, usually of biblical origin. Many Mormons believe they receive an individual name, but actually all men and all women who go to the temple at a certain date receive the same male or female name, and hence you can look up any Mormon's new name in a table if you know their endowment date. Funny, isn't it?
Brilliant. I can't wait to see it.
I just want to know if they are finally going to mention my home town of Carthage, Illinois.
ok so i love these tooo!
i cant wait!! :D this is going to be hilarious!!!!!
Did you love it? 😂
FATE. THE CREATORS AND BOBBY LOPEX BOTH WANTING TO WRITE A MUSICAL ON MORMONS...i mean cah mon!!! THAT'S SO PERFECT!
@unconstructive Oh, I get it. I think you read what I said negatively. "Just because someone's Mormon doesn't necessary mean their evil, dude." In retrospect I can understand mistaking it, but I simply meant "just because we don't agree with it, doesn't mean it's malicious" However, I'm proud of you for sticking up all the same.
I am giddy with excitement about this.
I have seen the Musical, it is great.
They tell the truth about the religion and how sometimes all you can do is just believe.
Every religion can relate to that.
It’s a very funny play.
A war lord who shoots people in the face!
What’s so scary about that?
🤣🤣
If I get a chance, I want to see the play again.
@Hooahgoarmy
where are you from?
I'm a member this stuff is funny
Haha love it
@BaurakAle7 But this is only people that either live in New York OR those who are visiting and have extra cash and care to see a broadway production (not cheap). That's a smaller group than just "anybody" that has had a Mormon come to their door.
Avenue Q is awesome
@canofsand What media and entertainment do you mean?
Never been a fan of musicals . Even if they’re funny. So glad they don’t overdo it on South Park . South Park is my favorite show ! So much that my husband and I watch reruns every single night almost . Or when we need cheered up after a bad day 🤣
I think I will get a copy of the Book of Mormon and find out what it says.
im kind of angry about the book of morman musical being on broadway. ive followed south park since i can remember, i tune in for every new episode, rewatch them online and love the creators and all their works. i feel like the community should have exclusive rights to see this great show but tickets are extremely expensive and sold out for while.
I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I have to admit, It was funny. Very offensive, both to our church and black Africans. But, overall, we are all good sports, it really was enjoyable. 😬
Sabino Garcia it’s not supposed to be offensive. It’s supposed to poke fun, they have absolutely nothing against Mormons I assure you
@SavannahBananaful If you listen to the music closely you will realize that this musical is not about bashing Mormons or Christians. This musical shows that religion is not about what is right or wrong it is about community and finding a way to better yourself as a person. You should not feel offended but even though they poke fun at it at times it's good to learn to laugh at yourself. You can tell how the creators are talking about it that they did not mean to insult you.
What about southpark? will it still be coming new episodes and series? also Team america was awesome, must have been you who made that, you guys are geniouse! anyway, I hope you will make more Southpark I love that!
@RedlineMMA Everything receives spiritual energy through chakras, even the earth. Our ancestors knew this very well and placed sacred sites where the earths male(micheal) and female (mary)energy ley lines meet. By placing certain stones at these points the spiritual energy would become magnified. That's what Dolmens and monoliths do. And ancient people would tap into this energy for healing, agriculture, and much more. Stonehenge is just one of many sacred sites on the micheal and mary lines
@dallske1 I said many mormons not all. Shame on you for not letting someway share there opinions, good for you for liking it, its really none of my business if you are a good mormon or not thats really a personal thing. I'm just saying that for me, i don't like watching people flip others off, swear, and ridicule others. Oh and for your record i am very much active and i do have a very strong testimony as well.
Really, all these anti-religious comments have missed the point of the musical. The point was that even though people might find a religion ridiculous, it can still help people, if not taken too seriously (I believe Matt Stone called it "an atheist's love letter to religion"). I mean, I'm a Christian (and proud of it) but I've studied Norse and Native American mythology and found stories that were inspiring to me, even if I didn't believe them.
@MetalBru01 im just letting you know that in the bible it says preach to people and help save them, so yes us Christians will do that lol, i used to be like that also, just don't argue....i will try helping out as many people as possible, if they are not willing i won't waste my time, I'll find someone else who seems willing, hence if they argue maybe there is a chance ;), some Christians need to realize it is not a competition, although I do hope someday you change your mind like me
Well, I'll give this musical a chance.
@Sleepastray i hope so,your indeed lucky!,and yeah i think a musical starts in nyc and if it does good then it tours to different locations,im guessing though, anyway have fun :) ,im sure it will be really funny if their working with the writers of avenue Q,i saw that musical and its hilarious!!!
Show One song please! Before end of world next week!
@canofsand thing...
We dont give orders to the folowers saying. "You gonna do this! YOU HER WHAT I SAID!"... We give guidence so we can be good people and do good.
However. If you gonna go to a tample. Then you nid to be holy. Because the Temple is a holy place. So if you wanna enter it. You nid to folow the comandments.
If I smoked infront of the members. They would not bad me or awoid me. They try to guid me and stay by my side. because they are my brothers and sistters.
Yeah there
@moonknight125
Depends, they already have a episode wich features "The mormons".
So I expect it to be around that level.
Nobody knows.
@GilBR100 Agreed, these guys are the greatest satirists of the modern era. Either love them or hate them, but no matter what, you still have to respect them.
@1je2i Of course, new episodes in April I think.
If I won a contest just ot be there, I'd go. But damn it has to be so far away.
@dalphin002 Actually, Matt and Trey have done a LOT of research on Mormonism in the past, and growing up around Mormons in Colorado, they don't really have that many qualms about them. If you watch the South Park Episode "All About Mormons?", they pretty much say that even though the religion is a bit goofy, its no more different than any other religion and that most Mormons are good people in general.
