Poughkeepsie is in the Hudson River Valley region, midway between the core of the New York metropolitan area and the state capital of Albany. It is a principal city of the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown metropolitan area which belongs to the New York metropolitan area.[6] It is served by the nearby Hudson Valley Regional Airport and Stewart International Airport in Orange County, New York.-
Poughkeepsie has been called "The Queen City of the Hudson".[7] It was settled in the 17th century by the Dutch and became New York State's second capital shortly after the American Revolution. It was chartered as a city in 1854. Major bridges in the city include the Walkway over the Hudson, a former railroad bridge called the Poughkeepsie Bridge which reopened as a public walkway on October 3, 2009, and the Mid-Hudson Bridge, a major thoroughfare built in 1930 that carries U.S. Route 44 over the Hudson. The city of Poughkeepsie lies in New York's 18th congressional district

As you can see everybody left!... So did I.
60+ years ago that area was almost solid buildings, almost no vacant or parking lots. I moved away 40 years ago and it's depressing to watch this.
I will say as we know everything is a cycle, Poughkeepsie may look unpleasant now but I’m sure years from now it will go back to its glorious days as you know it to be. Invest now!!!

If you’d paid attention you would have seen that Main Street wasn’t the only Street filmed ,but I assume you missed the message in the first 30 seconds of the video. I know Poughkeepsie has more then just Main Street Good and Bad. Again Thanks for Watching!!

I used to attend Maplebrook School, located in Amenia. I though Amenia was OK, but farfrom great. I was there from 02/89'-06/91', and again, just thought it was OK. The mountains were pretty though, every fall.

The city would be a nice place if it could clean up the homeless, crime and poverty. The place has potential but I haven't seen any progress in decades.
Change is coming! I will update the progress once I’m back in this city!
It takes a village to raise a child. With parents having to work two jobs, and never getting to see their children, they’re learning from other people how to act. If they gave these kids things to do, and had grown adults leave children alone, it’d be a better place.. I always see comments on how shitty poughkeepsie is, and needs to change, but yet not a single soul is out here trying to help make that change. Don’t be a bystander waiting for it to happen. You have a voice as well as anyone, use it.
