@@SedatedLynx see the 2 hinged areas they are 180 degree opposite each other of the retaining disk,choose the smaller of the 2 there is enough space to fit a thin strong metal probe, like the blunt end of a heavy needle gently lever it up and it will pop up. The guy in the video shows it already sprung open and never clips it back when putting the stainless steel back on.
I bought mine or college, September 2012. I'm replacing the battery now so for me it lasted 10 years. I never use the light or alarms and have the hourly beep muted though.
You didn't show the detail on the lifting the retainer clip most important part.

They never do because it's hard and finnicky. I can't stand people who don't show all the steps.

Mine lasted 8 years of daily use and 3 years of storage in the middle of that. Also it only became off time by like 4 minutes in that 3 years
