    Thanks for the video! Super clean undercarriage for a Chicagoland GX! What did you use for undercarriage treatment? Thanks!

      Thank you! I use WoolWax black undercoating. I have found it to be very resistant to all corrosion and it has held up very well! I also used it on our IS, and it held up just as well. I highly recommend it

    Hey man how’s it going I love all your gx videos you’re doing a great job I had just a quick question for you if by any chance have you done the Timing belt and water pump on your car and if yes was there anything you changed or did while in the process or had a shop do for you? It’s time for me to do mine but just curious if there’s anything else I should do when replacing that thank you for your time keep up the good work

      I appreciate the support! I had my timing belt and water pump done at a Lexus dealer near me. I didn't have enough time on my hands to take everything apart otherwise I would've done it myself. Lexus recommends replacing the water pump when replacing the timing belt so getting both done will be great. Other than that, keep an eye on the valve covers, and the front timing seal for oil leaks since they are fairly common.

    Love your explanation style - great detail - congrats and thanks. I'm in Brisbane - which is where your kit supplier, Old Man Emu suspension, is based. I have a 2009 Prado 120.
    I presume this is on your 2007 GX470 - as I first watched your airbag suspension renewal on your 2003 GX 470 when you replaced the older lines with the airlines removed here from the 2007 replacing of bags for springs?
    Just wondering why this change. Is it just to gain the 2 inch clearance height? Compared to the US market LX470's I'm not sure if any Prado 102's for Australian market were OEM produced without springs - ie with just air-bags. I know the higher level Prado "Grande" spec came with rear air-bags OEM fitted inside of springs to be able to adjust rear ride height level esp for towing - adjustable to suit the downward weight on towbar of what is being towed. Previous owner of my mid-spec GLX had fitted aftermarket air-bags inside the rear springs for this purpose (along with controller for electronic control and hitch-plug for braking on towed caravan) but the version installed has two air compressor connectors left accessible just under the rear bumper for easy manual height adjustment of each airbag - rather than an on-board air compressor.
    I need to renew my rear suspension spring, and wondering about a lift, but with limited off-raod use I'm weighing up pros vs cons (aerodynamics, fuel consumption, handling and stability in long-distance high speed driving plus increased insurance premiums). For very occasional need for off-road clearance lift which will only be at slow speed, I'm wondering whether I can achieve that manually adjusted via airbags inside standards height springs. I'm not planning on doing any significant towing. I already carry a portable compressor for off-road touring for tyre reinflation after lowering for sand and mud stretches.
    (Apologies for the rant. Your set-up got me thinking - and I'm a novice in this world, so putting it in writing here has helped me to get my head around my own thoughts.)
    Again, thanks for your great step-by-step explanations on the vids. I came across your channel just now via your install of the Tesla-style portrait orientation head-unit.

      Thank you for the kind words! First off I did use the airlines from my 07 since the ones on the 03 were so badly stuck! I did the lift to achieve the 2 inch clearance along with peace of mind for the rear bags as they have a tendency to leak and cause sagging overtime. I went light off-roading with the OEM suspension and had no problems. The prado120/Gx470 is fully capable without many modifications. I plan on building the Gx more in the future and making it strictly for off-roading and camping. The ride quality is a little more stiff over the OEM suspension but I love being higher up and being able to go over obstacles if needed. Before when I had the airbags in the rear I used a trick with the sensor to increase the height along with spacers in the front but it was earlier to get rid of it all together and go with the springs and lift kit. I hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to send a message!

      I was running TRD Pro 0 offset wheels with 2 inch hub centric spacers wrapped in 265/70/17 BFG KO2's.

    Hi I have a question.
    is LEXUS GX470 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
    Does it look like a Toyota prado TRANSMISSION???
    And can I install it in Lexus gx470?

    • @nkautos
      @nkautos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I have seen the Prado 120 and the Gx470 have different engines which might have different transmissions connected. I would double check with a Toyota dealer near you.

    that socket on top of the shock is not 11/16, albeit very close and likely will work its truly a 17mm. They dont use inches in japan. My 2003 that nut on top of the factory shock was corroded on and I ended up snapping it to remove it(ok replacing shocks anyway). Good luck on the DIY work everyone. Any nice trick with the jack to drop the diff down to get the spring in, came here looking for a solution to that. thank you.
