When my mom was dying of cancer in 1987 she wanted to listen to these guys all the time. TYA and Jimi Hendrix seemed to help ease the pain at times for her.
I've been taking care of my disabled wife for 28 years. I get wasted once a week on pot and alcohol. I am listening to Jimi Hendrix and 10 years after tomorrow night while I am buzzed.
When I was really getting into music around 1971, I Remember it well was over at my best friends house and he threw on Let It Be and I was hooked. After that eye opening experience I found Ten Years After at a record shop, it was the album A Space in Time. Been playing it regularly since!
Thanks to the French and German television networks of that day who were willing to invest in such rare and fabulous gems of 1960's Rock & Roll and Blues/Rhythm music. I loved growing up during this time, these were the days....
I saw them with Deep Purple back in 68 not knowing both would become so well known and well respected worldwide but did think at the time they were rather good, bit of an understatement now.
Was into Muddy Waters and Wes Montgomery in those days, when Ten Years After came along.Been following them since this one hit me.They just kept getting better and better over here years.Saw them live in Hamburg,Germany in 1970.
Just awesome. This is beatnik blues at its best. No other major rock band was doing anything like No Title. And completely over the top when they segue into Going Home. This should have a 1,000,000 views.
@@SuperAnimelover100 Yes, Me and two pretty girls walked down the loading ramp at the Spectrum, Philadelphia. No one was there. So at the bottom was the limos. So it three 17 year olds standing looking at those limos. I don't understand how we were able to be there. So here is Ten Years After getting in the limos. So Alvin says what's up. My one friend says you were really bad tonight. Alvin says I thought we were quite good tonight. She had to explain to him in our lingo at the time was bad was good. So Alvin then signed pieces of paper for us. They got in the limos and left. There were two limos and just the band. We were right in front of Alvin during the show so I know he saw us during the show. My one friend was a really pretty redhead. They were spectacular that night. I saw them later that year an they were not as good.
„No title“ is very special. Not many musicians like Alvin might be able to do something like this, blues, soul. Living it that way on stage. Unique. Thx for this to Alvin.
Thanks for sharing I'd never seen or heard "No Title" before and I got to appreciate Ric Lee 's drumming with the space he was given while Alvin was reaching into his soul for the next line, and I needed I'm coming home to revive me afterwards. Thanks TYA
Been a fan since I first found them on a bargain cassette shelf in a K-Mart in mid 1980's. Inspiration for my learning to play the guitar. So...today (30 some years later..) was digging around, watching TH-cam videos and found this .Had to get up and grab an axe and jam along. Brought back the same feeling !. THANKS FOR SHARING. .. I have collected many of their vynl albums through the years. We used to buy every thing we could find on Ten Years After, Alvin Lee. Back then no Internet so learning songs buy ear and jamming with others was the only way we had to learn and enjoy the music. Even the music magazines were just starting to publish TAB for songs. Have vol. #1. first issue of GUITAR SCOOL. now so many internet sites to learn from and sheet music that it's a lot easier to obtain this stuff. ------- IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN PLAYING MUSIC, of any kind, DO IT. NOW. Its really not that difficult if you want to bad enough. BEST WISHES TO YOU.
Chick Churchill was SO under-rated and died MUCH too young!!! I was lucky enough to get to know Ric Lee a bit when he was playing in Stan Webb's Chicken Shack - I'd like to think he's still out there rocking, whether in Reading or elsewhere if he moved. Awesome drummer. Fantastic band all round!!!!
Ever since I heard TYA the band they have and has changed my musical journey A space in time album still got it always listen and learning. Rock N Roll forever
Great to see this film! I saw them live at least twice around this time, at Mothers Club in Birmingham and the Marquee in London. Leo Lyons played bass the way the older jazz musicians used to play the stand up bass 😄
Outstanding. Spirit and now this. Don't know what your connection is with French TV but... No Title is a sick gem. The overall dynamics, the ripping section with the double stops, the change of tempo and Alvin's vocal are just great. And Goin Home played at what sounds like "basement" band practice loudness level. Perfect for a small venue and the reason that many people like myself think of TYA as one of the more underrated English bands of that period. Right up there with Cream in my book. Awesome.
Just what I was thinking. His fills at the end of "No Title" are superb and his touch is light and nimble. Drummers without this background are simply inferior.
Inigualable..han tratado de imitarles y jamás podrán hacerlo pues son un Supergrupo...todos sus temas en todas sus versiones son espectaculares...gracias por compartir éstas joyas del rock..un gran saludo desde Valparaiso 🇨🇱
This recording sure looks/sounds pre-1969. Vocals, tone and song arrangement/structure only vaguely resemble the classic recording from Woodstock. I'm placing it 1968 if not earlier.
Kudos to the French & German tv companies. They didn't cheap out by re-recording over programmes that had already aired. The British & American et al companies lost massive amounts of footage by taping over previously aired shows just to save money. Thereby losing brilliant historical footage of some of the greatest Rock n' Roll ever broadcast.
Was this audience alive? I would have packed up and screwed. Ten Years After is #1. CrickleWood Green is what I really enjoyed. 50,000 miles Beneath My Brain.

If anyone ever had more fun playing the bass than Leo Lyons I've never seem him. PUT THESE GUYS IN THE R&R HOF
Alvin Lee and Ronnie Montrose should be in the R&R hof no question!!!!!!!
Have you seen Larry Taylor playing with Canned Heat? Dude is similarly manic.
R&R HOF is only a joke now no credibility whatsoever. The people who know about music know how great these guys where. That's all that matters.
Watch Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath. He really goes hog wild on the bass as well.

he says “if I keep on crying” instead of “if I keep on trying”

Totally agree. Hes a beast on the bass. Never gets the credit he deserves.

He had the most stage presence of any bass player I have seen. Tears the hell out of that bass!

I am always surprised at the quality of these older European videos.

Such a RARE video clip.

They really made their mark at Woodstock. The guitar magazines called him the fastest guitar player on Earth back then. Great band.
Still is,👍🎶✌️
Within a short few years there were so many fantastic musicians...
His nickname given to him.......Freddie Fastfingers
I have Alvin lee's autograph he signed for me in 1986 when I saw him at graffiti lounge PGH pa😝✌️
Wow!
I was at the Graffiti show! 😎✌️🍻
Extraordinary blues. First time hearing this! Absolutely love it!!
Nice find ,made my day...Alvin was king, long live the king.....RIP my geeetar hero!!!
Alvin is completly under rated. Top 10 of all guitar players (Blues, R&B & Rock)
Alvin Lee Jimmy Hendricks and Rory Gallagher can you imagine them all playing together.

"Beatnik blues" ? No- it's rock'n roll with a jazzy flavour.
Because they were truly blues based at what they did.. they didn't have a good backing for themselves. Like Grant for zeppelin or Janis Joplin man.
One of the most underrated bands ever.
I have heart that before. Nice phrase.
said who, somebody that lives on an other galaxy????
@chrisburzig7360 The word "underrated" is overrated and overused.
I got Alvin's autograph on the loading ramp at the Spectrum, Philadelphia 1972. He was real nice to us.

You can definitely tell Ric Lee was a jazz-trained drummer. Many rock drummers from that era got their chops by learning to drum to jazz.
