Going with Hulas over the Rebels... a skirt is great with a popper....better hook up ratio....hooks are on bottom...long shanked and super sharp hooks..3/8 seems the best size...color does not matter...but biggest night fish was with the Hula Popper....the original

As someone who only has a fishing kayak and mostly fishes from the bank due to convenience and time limitations, I loved this video. Keep up the great content, your channel is one of the few that really helps bass fisherman with tips, patterns etc. specific to Midwest bass fishing. My parents live near Alum, hoping to fish it at least once this summer. Keep repping Ohio man, love the channel. Get up here to Cleveland and do a big smallie video on Erie sometime.

Thanks for the bank 🎣 video. I normally fish from my boat but I am currently bank 🎣 until I bring my boat from Georgia to Florida. I find that I LOVE BANK 🎣 but it is definitely different and does require ajusting to. The bank 🎣 videos on youtube have been a huge help so thanks 😊 for making this one. I really like your channel, you explain things clearly from start to finish right on topic.

I really shouldn’t watch these videos before work ( especially on a Friday) Now I just wanna go fish ! Great informative video . Side note , when the fish are shallow running along the shoreline a wakebait is deadly! Rat , bluegill or crappie run parallel to the shoreline is one of my favorite ways to fish in the summer

man i love how that shot looked at the start of your video. I got to go home to PA last summer and i went fishing alone in the morning at one of my grandfather's ponds. It was one of those mornings just like in your video but with a soft, gentle rain. I hooked up on so many nice bass that morning too! a Day ill remember for a long long time.

You do a Great job explaining, nice vid! I would suggest that you add suggesting to people who bank fish, as I have been doing for 37 yrs., that they carry w/ them a small folding saw , and an 8 gal. garbage bag. the saw for access to those hard to reach honey spots and the bag to pick up garbage inconsiderate people leave behind. Leave the place better than what you found it. GREAT JOB! THNX.

Thanks for the shout out to us "shore trash!" I think shore fishing really forces you to hone your skills in a way you might not develop from the boat, because you have limited water to work with and you have to understand and work it thoroughly.

I am a lady angler and 65 years old. I lived grew up in the Ozarks and cut my teeth on a cane pole back in the early sixties. As soon as I was old enough I would grab a flat bottom aluminum boat row out to my secret spots and throw black or purple worms. The lake was pristine and so I brought home enough bass to feed the entire family dinner. I learned my knots at the library as well as everything else I needed to know about catching Large Mouths.
Last year I caught my lifetime bass that weighed in at 8 lbs. 6 oz.
I think the you are absolutely the best spokesman educating anglers. The only thing that stings a bit is you always address your audience as males.
Just don’t forget us gals as I would put my skill level up against any man’s. However, men, except my husband, don’t like fishing with me as I outfish them. That is unless they are beginners and happy just to learn.
Keep on as I love the fact that if I am not clear on a bait selection at different times or a new bait or technique. Keep on.🐟🐟🐟😀

I’ve been fishing from bank for over 50 years and have pretty well, overall. One of my go-to baits from back in the day was the split shot worm on a spinning rod. It used to be very popular with bank anglers. I think the drop shot has kind of replaced it in some ways but it still works. I would use a 6” plastic worm, nothing fancy, and then started to favor a 4” ribbed worm in a lot of places. This worked well on largemouth and smallmouth. I had another favorite bait that would tear them up in the spring and that was a Beetle Spin in white. I moved away from those baits in the last 25-30 years but will still tie one on if the situation calls for it.
One of the advantages that a bank angler enjoys is the ability to get to some key, and often secret, honey-holes that could never be discovered or accessed by boat. It also will often force the angler to fish areas more thoroughly, really picking it apart.
I may still get a bass boat before I’m done, but it’s not always a bad thing to fish without one.
I enjoy your videos and I’m always learning!
