    I'm on a 24kw combination boiler at the moment. Testing with lower flow temps at the moment, 38/ 43deg c , in these moderate osa temps 9/14 deg c ,these flow temps are fine, waiting for osa temps to fall ,to see how things work out.

      Thanks for your comments. That's brilliant you are trying out a lower flow temp. It really does make the world of difference for an efficient system. Regarding your other comment, this is a great question. It really depends on how your current microbore is plumped. It can either be plumbed in a radial or branch system. For a microbore to work efficiently with a heat pump, a radial system is best. Your plumber should be able to let you know how they did it. I hope this helps! Good luck with your system.

    With the Powerwall set to 11.5kW output, did you need a G99 for 11.5kw plus the size of the Solar Array to cover everything that could go to grid if you discharghed the PW3 on sunny day ? I was told that this is how the DNO see it ?

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. Powerwall has an output of 11.04kW to the house and in this case only 7.6kW to the grid. Very informative. I've just had a Powerwall 3 installed and I note that your demo, like mine, is still importing a low level of power even though there is charge in the battery. Also, in the morning, my microwave and kettle takes power from the grid even though there is available charge in the battery. I think the battery is a teenager and doesn't like getting up in the morning. The questions are currently with Tesla.

    This is a really EXCELLENT video - thank you & well done. I've 1 criticism & a question. At 16:40 you suggest that because there is grid export in the Summer a 2nd battery might be considered. I feel this is an over-simplification, for you will need a very, VERY big battery to avoid ALL export, and the bigger it is the less it will cycle and the more it will lose through self-discharge. Without cycling it will not be used enough to justify the initial outlay (and maybe the space too). Which leads to the comment: you didn't mention a feature to monitor the battery charge/discharge cycle count - or the NEED for it - in the App run-through: unless I missed it this is a MAJOR omission: it has a bearing on warranty and validates the battery-sizing calculation.

    • @falfield
      @falfield 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Something else that manufacturers and installers skate over or ignore: the inverter efficiency curve and its implications. Broadly, the efficiency of ALL inverters falls off a cliff when operating at below 20% of rated capacity, and with a small array like your example or a larger one with significant shading, choosing of a large inverter such as the 11.5kW PW3 means the system will be at low power for FAR MORE of the time than is predicted by the (California-based) CEC-weighting formula that Tesla quotes. And therefore at low efficiency. When will this be at its worst? At high latitudes, and in Winter - just when you need it most. So why do no commentators focus on this and force manufacturers to publish?

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@falfield Thank you for your comments, so glad you like the video. As an answer to your questions. The purpose of capturing more energy from solar is to either use it later in the day or export it when the price is higher. Exporting at a fixed rate is fine but if you can store it, and export to be paid more later that day, this is better. It is of course a payback analysis though. Powerwall 3's inverter is efficient all the way down to -20C. The cells are also maintained at a minimum temperature of 0C to maximise the output. It's the only battery designed to go outside.

  • @RestWithin
    @RestWithin หลายเดือนก่อน

    What ratio do other Powerwall 3 users set their backup to? I’ve set mine to 50% so I can store them later utilise the daily solar harvest to some extent whilst retaining minimum one day’s energy for home usage in case of power outages which we experience approximately 6 times per year due to extremely windy location which regularly brings down local power lines.

    • @TheNaturalEnergyCompany
      @TheNaturalEnergyCompany 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. Tesla recommends a backup reserve percentage of atleast 20%. The more you learn about your typical usage, the more confident you can be with setting your own reserve. If you have Solar PV then throughout the year it may be worth adjusting lower in the summer, when you know the Solar power will kick back in to top you up during a prolonged outage, and a bit higher in the winter when your generation is lower. It is worth remembering that Storm Watch will charge to maximum capacity anyway when triggered to prepare for potential outages in weather warnings!

    An admirable objective. Guaranteed, cheap and reliable energy is an essential basis for the sustainable growth of any ecconomy. This will definately work if there adequate reserve or stored capacity, accessible to all, for 5 days electricity. Even the German greens and identified this and widened their acceptance of input power sources to support the bas load capability. I like your idea of using the wasteful curtailment payments paid to foreign owned comapnies, to be diverted into the direct support of the populous and economy and welcome a 5 day UPS in my own home (replaced every 10 years after excessive degradation) as a way of creating distributed backup capacity.

      It ultimately depends on how much pipework you need to change in order to achieve the radiator output you require. Free or very low cost energy is an achievable goal for Scotland. This goal is crucial to allow Scotland to grow the economy, to attract industry/services, grow employment and wages. This will make Scotland a +++ place to live and grow family and community. 👏👏👏👏

      Thank you very much. We are so glad it is helpful. Regarding your question, I'm afraid you may have to contact Tesla directly for this. If it's showing as the incorrect currency it may be something to do with your account setup. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    It is a matter of the rather large cost factor?

      Cost factor versus other batteries really doesn't come into the equation. By the time you've invested into a similar storage capacity from another brand you'll be more expensive than one Powerwall. You also won't have all the technology that is within Powerwall. It's the best value, best in class, battery on the market today.
