    Cheapest sound deadening - 2 x 4 ceiling tiles. Easily cut to fit, fireproof, good at dampening noises.
    Also, in your third video, comments are turned off. You can kill a lot of the remaining noise by building a baffle around the two vents on the ends. Just a rectangular box lined with ceiling tile, so the sound has to make some turns on the way out. And an additional muffler on the exhaust will also help. Maybe 5 gallon bucket filled with insulation and a perforated pipe running down the middle like a glas-pac muffler. You can probably get the noise level down to 70 right next to the box.
    If the wheels interfere with the insulation, take them off and put it on wood blocks. It doesn't need wheels inside that shed.

    The hush mat is a great idea for sound proofing. I would imagine that if your power is out your neighbors power is too. They'd probably understand the noise. But then again, I don't live in California. We had severe thunderstorms rip through our area last month which knocked our power out for 50 hrs, you couldn't drive down the road with out hearing gennies running from just about every home on my street.

    Great job only problem I see is the grounding rod, I would of converted to Floating neutral and when your connected to your house via inlet box your generator with be bonded through the main panel, most states code is only 1 bonding point.

    I always see everyone connecting an exhaust extension on these sheds. Do you think that with the amount of air flow the fan is producing that it would be enough to also suck out the exhaust and heat? Just wondering if anyone has tried this without putting a separate exhaust extension.

    • @joemarino7430
      @joemarino7430  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it’s not, I believe. Once I had the clamp come loose and it filled the shed with so many fumes and smoke the fan was not dissipating it. Plus the exhaust is extremely hot and it needs to be directed away from the plastic. This project wasn’t much of a unique project I followed the many similar vids. Maybe if I had to do it again I might use wood or metal to make it more professional.
      The metal infused hush mat is really holding up and insulating.

      I wish I bought the 10” wheels. I have the 8”. And if I had more room in my yard I would have gotten the bigger shed. My set up It’s a tight fight I only have like an inch to spare on both sides. Lastly if you can. Make the deck of the shed ground level or install some type a ramp. It’s hard to even roll this over even a 2-3 inch step up.

      Yeah sounds like you’re right. The new inverter gens. Have panels all around the gen probably to keep the sound level down. But they probably also trap more heat too. You’ll have to come up with a better system for more airflow. Maybe go with a bigger shed

      You identified the problem. In my case I installed a high temp cutoff switch (122F) and installed it at the exhaust end of the generator directly to the frame and it kept shutting the generator down. I moved it to the inverter end and insulated the switch from the frame with foam rubber. It did much better. I installed a sensor push remote thermometer and when closed up the compartment I got close to the shutoff temperature so I will likely end up with a higher temperature switch (55C or 131F). It is trial and error. 50C was suggested on a youtube video but it you think about it and pop open the hood on your car on a hot day the heat in the compartment is pretty intense and there is no engine damage. In my case I use a 12" louvered fan.
      In your case to cut down on heat do things like shorten the exhaust inside the compartment. Shield the exhaust, if possible. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D4783OK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). This is one example.
      The other possibility is to increase the ventilation with additional fans or increased vent size.
      Try to find out what is the temperature shutoff setting on that generator. It will give you an idea of the magnitude of the problem. Often mfrs. don't volunteer this info as they frown on generator sheds.

    Did you ever consider a foam application for sound deadening

    • @joemarino7430
      @joemarino7430  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I did. I put fire block foam (spray kind) in the air gap between the walls. There are holes you can put the hose thru and fill the gap as much as it will go.
      The hard foam I did not consider because I don’t have a lot of room around the generator. I bought the smaller shed and the generator just fits with just an inch to spare on each side. If had had a bigger yard that would fit the bigger shed then yes I would’ve used that foam with the metal reflective material on it.
      So instead I used the dynamat that is rated to be used around a catalytic converter
