- For many years people have asked me about obtaining federal surplus property. The question is "Can I obtain buildings and land for free?" the answer is "yes" if you qualify to receive those items. I'm very familiar with obtaining surplus property because I've acquired buildings, land, cars, and equipment. I've helped others do the same. In this video, I'm giving you short tips that are important to pay attention to if you are going to be involved with any surplus property program.
Tips include:
1. Working with a team
2. Having your program in place
3. Qualifying and match the use of the equipment with the needs of your organization
4. Being diligent and working hard through the process and sometimes, working through opposition.
In my video I mention:

I would love to know more about this where to go in my state of Indiana. I have a nonprofit for battered women and children and looking for a small building to house victims for emergency purposes
@itz_aymi41 thank you for serving this population. If you Google "Indiana government surplus" you will find a lot of leads and then you can narrow it down to your area and surplus needs. Also you may think about renting or leasing a property for your program.
Thank you for this very valuable information

What is the Texas Department of Announcements?
Xbox, that is a good question. I'm not sure what that dept. is. I don't recall mentioning that in my video. I encourage you to Google it and explore it for your business.
i think you are very pretty so im gonna sub to ur channel
You should only subscribe if the information is informative and will help your business grow.
Is 5-10 years a typical time frame to process these requests or was that just a lack of experience/ trial and error?
Joey, it should not take that long. I think you said it right. Lack of experience, trial and error often cause things to take longer than usual.
@@jenaimorehead Thanks for the vid and response! This was very eye opening to the different possibilities I can peruse with my non profit.
Hi I am an individual who is low income, single mother, previous DV victim/survivor. Our shelters are full for DV and other. There isn't anything for victims. I want to get a grant, some sort of funding to purchase a 6 bedroom home for transitional housing. Could you guide me please
Hi Wonder, thank you for reaching out and wanting to help others. The first thing I wanted to address is to make sure you did your research on shelters for DV victims. Check the area list for all the shelters and the services they provide. Shelters may be full but you can provide services to these victims. 2) When you apply for a grant you must be able to show that you have the capacity to provide services to DV victims. That means you have to start somewhere and collect info to show that you can do it and spend grant money wisely. 3) Join your DV coalition or group. Every DV coalition I know is tight-knit and they always work together. Check out my videos on grants. They will help you understand what funders are looking for.4) You can schedule an appointment with me once you have done the above homework -Jenai

Your Welcome Eric :)
I’m trying to start a women and children shelter and help Center …. I have the building and a grant writer what all should I be asking money for
Oshun76 you should be asking money to fund your mission. You and your funder will have the same mission. You will have the time to do that work and your funder will have the money to help you. Having a clear and concise mission statement will assist in attracting the right funder.
Thank you 🙏
