    • @harmony202

@@munmunhazarika5247 with due respect I didn't mean that. But what about other great rulers who belonged to the Sikh community? And how Aurangzeb tortured them? No offence I absolutely have all the respect to the Muslim monuments but Indian history books overrate the Mughals. There are so many rulers who we aren't aware of! And no Modi has bigger things to plan for Indian development than destroy Islam in India

You went to my home town... I miss home so much... sivasagar is a very important place in terms of historical significance... there are a lot of monuments spread throughout... you can't visit all in one day... your guide lacks knowledge... he should've taken you to kareng ghar, the ahom king's palace, which is like at throne's throw away from rang ghar... and the pond behind shiva doul is sivsagar pukhuri (pond)... joysagar pukhuri is in joysagar... which is a human made pond as well.. that's a beautiful sight too... and there are ancient temples at the bank of joysagar tank as well...

Thanks for visiting my hometown.. have you visited Kareng Ghar which is the place ahom king used to stay and rule and Talatal Ghar which is the place where soldier used to stay during war? In earlier days there used to be underground connection (tunnel) from Kareng ghar, talatal Ghar and the river dikhou which is for soldiers to fight and communicate faster. one correction behind the Sivadol it's "Sivasagar barpukhuri" not "Jaisagar barpukhuri". Once again thanks a lot for visiting Assam and exploring and portraiting in front of whole world.. Cheers!

The Sivasagar pukhuri isn't a lake, it's actually a tank which was dug under the order of Queen Ambika. There's another big tank in Joysagar also not far from Ranghar. These ponds were actually dug, and there's a whole scientific method associated with the digging of these tanks. But I got you, seeing its vast size no one can believe that it's actually a pond.

David,it is indeed a pond dug by men(of course not in 24 hours! ) but not lake.Ahom dug pond by bombing underground water passage and then constructing the boundaries rather than digging every bits and pieces. For building monuments Ahom used flat bricks made of mud with a mixture of egg, limestone, sticky rice as the cementing material.Ahoms are from Yunan province in China, hence you will observe very old engineering approach from earliest Chinese empires and civilisation. For Ahom engineering you can read History book by Chang Rung Phukon,Chang Rung being a chief royal civil Engineer. You can also read the original "History of Assam" by Edward Gait published on 1906.The whole geopolitics of NE India is shaped by Ahom's politics and policies.(e.g.Ahom kings first bought British to NE to save their dynasty from Burmese insurgency that rose from internal division among the royals due to the migration of caste Hindus from north India, social imbalance and conflicts between Hinduism, tribal religion and Ahom's own royal religion).Without reading genuine History books(either by British writers or royal history scripture written in Tai language in paparus) you will be misguided and become a victim of political propaganda. That place is very political, all dirty and good things of NE India took place there like Rome.Good luck.

    David,
Once you become an Indian and start paying taxes and supporting the economy, you too can take advantage of subsidized entry ticket prices. When you get home, ask your local University how much out of state and foreign students have to pay for their classes and fees compared to local students.

By David's logic, I should be able to see cricket world cup in England for less than 10k. But that's not possible is it. ☕😂

It's not Joysagar Pukhuri.it is Sivasagar pukhuri...locals used to call Borpukhuri... Joysagar Pukhuri is located 5 km south to Sivasagar town..ND it is one of the biggest man made pool.
