It really means something special to a lot of us aspiring gaming youtubers to be asked to host a Did You Know Gaming. Its like a sign that youre really going in the right direction. Really want to thank Shane and crew for giving me a shot and I hope the audience was alright with my recording! Thank you thank you thank you!
You're doing very well for yourself, Shesez. Don't let anyone get you down. Oh, and consider doing a Star Wars game sometime soon, will ya? Maybe Star Wars: Battlefront II.
glad to see this guy getting recognition. He does fun stuff. I like his content and with youtube acting the way it is, it's good that a bigger channel is helping him out
This is the first time I can legitimately recommend checking out the Narrator's channel. Boundary Break is one of the most interesting video-game shows on TH-cam in my opinion. It's like having a genie reveal to you all of the questions you had about the world of a video game as a kid. 10/10
ARCADE THEATRE The first time I checked out a narrator was Digi Valentine, doing the Nights into Dreams video. His channel is about analysing characters and honestly it's just a good time. You can just tell how much attachment he has towards the characters. He mainly reviews Street Fighter and Sega characters. But even if you don't know/like the characters I would still recommend watching.
And here we see someone who never even knew of the little island that had yoshi slime on it If they did know about it they wouldn't call the 7 minute journey of getting their only to have an insanely hard level as a reward easy.
I've honestly never understood studies on behavior in relation to video games. Because people seem to have a bizarre confirmation bias when it comes to the results of such studies. In this instance for example, the results of the study were positive towards a video game in question; Mario makes people more helpful. So they're saying that Mario Sunshine has a positive subconscious effect on a person's personality and how they treat others. However if you're to apply the opposite of that, a study might attempt to show that a game such as COD or GTA might have a negative effect on someone's personalty and actions. Yet people will write this off as being a bunch of shit because it's just a game and a game can't affect someone and change them into a bad person. However is this not extremely hypocritical and rather bias? No one is running to claim that Sunshine can't make you a better person, in fact most of us probably think that it's true. However the "it's a game it can't affect you" logic suddenly get pulled out when the results in question are against video games and not something positive. If research came out that said "playing Zelda can make you become courageous in real life" we would all nod along with a thumbs up. However if research came out and said "playing GTA can make you more aggressive in real life", we all shake our heads and act like that's impossible. Why do we act as though the positives are possible, but not the negatives? I don't actually think violent games have negative effects on gamers, but I'm playing devil's advocate here. This is something I've thought of before, and hearing about the research into Sunshine's affect on how you treat others just reminded me of it.
James G it's mostly because we aren't idiots we know what we are doing isn't real and that it's wrong to do it in real life the characters are generally not very nice either, so younger children generally won't see them as a great role model yet with the positive thing doing good things in the game feels good, so we will do it in real life expecting similar results
The thing is, this was just one little experiment with certain people, and people are not the same. You can't just come to a conclusion that a certain type of entertainment will be some surefire trigger for altruism. It's just a social study, but ultimately remembering how it isn't a definite answer on anything like this.
"we know what we are doing isn't real and that it's wrong to do it in real life" This applies to positive games too though just in reverse. You're basically backing up the point that people are naturally biased when it comes to this kinda thing. And "doing good things in the game feels good" may be true, but the same applies to doing bad things. And Spikey Wikey, my point isn't whether the studies are a bunch of crap or hold any weight. It's the bias that gamers have towards them. Just look at some of these comments on here where people are actively using the results of the study as a positive for the game. Yet if on another video they stated that a study showed the respective game caused people to, say, feel like being meaner to others, people would be stating that it's a bunch of bull and, as you stated, that it holds no merit.
I think that games can only have a good effect on you because they (games like mario which are positive) make you feel good. Its not like after playing GTA you will go and shoot up a school or something. I barely play GTA but i like to play it since its fun to cause chaos knowing it has no real life effect whatsoever which calms me down.
The studies are pointless because it's simple common sense that games can, depending on how much one plays them and/or how susceptible one is to their outside influences/environment impact how a person behaves in real life and what behavior they find acceptable or tolerable. If one plays too many violent video games, they will most likely find violent behavior more acceptable than a person who never has because of the desensitization. However, this would apply to any part of a person's environment. If they witness domestic violence they're more likely to become a victim or victimize someone else than someone who never witnessed this. I've never understood the need for the studies or a certain sub-sect of gamers that overreacts to such studies because, "they're coming after ma gamez!" Games make too much money for these companies not to lobby and buy politicians to keep the status quo.
So happy to see that Shesez has finally been featured on this segment! He deserves it, guy has grown a lot in the last year and REALLY put in the work to get there!
So happy this game gets the love and attention it deserves nowadays it surprised me how many people actually love sunshine now it's certainly in my opinion one of the best Mario games to date
How the HELL is it overrated? I wouldn't say it's underrated either, but it's not overrated at all since it's sadly most peoples least favourite 3D Mario. 64 is 500 times as overrated.
I have many memories of just messing around on Isle Delfino. I used to rocket off the top of the big shinesprite thing and then do a 100 ft dive into the water like a professional Olympian. Awesome game to this day!
I agree. By extension, I also think Sunshine was the last REALLY good 3D Mario game, since it introduced a game-spanning gimmick, and left you in full control at all times - something subsequent 3D Mario games either didn't do at all (Super Mario 3D Land), or heavily streamlined (Galaxy 1 & 2, 3D World).
Galaxy honestly felt like a step down from Sunshine to me. It had its gimmick, but it was basically "lol you're on a tiny planet how neat is that?!?" for the entire game, whereas Sunshine's was "here's a modular backpack that functions as an attack and a jetpack, among others". One was just a visual trick that had no substance to it; the other was actual gameplay. Plus, Sunshine's plot had the initial mystery plot of Shadow Mario, and the twist of Bowser Jr's delusion that Peach was his mama. The backstory of Rosalina, who was really no more than a minor support character, didn't measure up at all.
Super Mario Sunshine is my childhood game, I remember being in elementary school and pretending to be sick so I could stay home and play it. 2003 was a simpler time..
Having best or Favorite Mario game is like having a Favorite Zelda game. Whatever is the best to you is whatever you played first. Because none of them are complete shit. In 5 to 10 years your going have people posting. "Mario Galaxy is the best Mario game". Then 10 years after that "Mario Odyssey is the best Mario Game". Its called nostalgia people. Dont be blinded by it.
No, it's not. It can be your favorite all you want, but it remains a fact that the game was rushed and unfinished. There are numerous Mario games that are perfect masterpieces, and this is not one of them. Jack: it's not whatever you played first, it's whatever had the most impact on you. People who played Super Mario Bros. first have said their favorite Mario game is Mario Galaxy. The first Zelda I played was the original on NES, and then I played Ocarina, and then I played Majora, and Majora is my favorite by a long shot.
i always loved that the stage names and various other terms came from italian. They mentioned the meanings of mare and monte but didn't mention that their current names Noki/Gnocchi (dumpling) and Pianta (plant) probably have to do with their respective appearances too.
So this game not only is a great game, but also introduced Bowser Jr., a great setting to the Mario world, and encourages people to be more helpful. SO WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH IT!!!???
Riverl 7827 It was gimmicky . I would rather use the spring mushroom from galaxy... and It was glitchy, not to mention the disgusting look... like Yoshi vomit...
My only problem is that they took away the freedom within levels, and they made reaching level 6 in every world mandatory. I never understood the complaining about FLUDD. He gave me so much freedom to fly and hover anywhere I wanted! And I loved the tropical setting. (I played it during the biggest heatwave ever, that certainly helped too :D )
Guns are too violent for the US version... But let's put an eel with fully modeled mouth and throat that can swallow you. Stuff of nightmares, you know ! I swear, it was 10x scarier than in Super Mario 64. I wonder if it's gonna be in Odyssey, somewhat even scarier...
Or you know, you could be a complete weirdo who had a fetish involving being swallowed and while exploring said fetish at a young age you discover that you can glitch through the lower end of the boss to find the stomach. But that's just me speculating.
I think the point was that literally any 'friendly game where you help out NPCs' would make you more helpful to others. It's not just this game, and it doesn't make you 'more social' lol
This is the second Mario game I've heard of to have an unused gun-like power up. I remember hearing that Nintendo wanted something like it in the original Super Mario Bros.
Sunshine reminds me a lot of Majora's Mask. Both had mixed reception at release for adding a new gimmick to a previous games formula, but would go on to become arguably more popular within the core fanbase despite still being overshadowed in the public eye. More so MM as SM64 basically has a completely separate fanbase from the rest of the series.
This game was really hard, fun, an refreshing as a kid, kept u coming back for more. There was lot of things to find and explore. All the nuzzle types were cool too.

O mer gud! It's Aurum!
To be honest, his name was on the title.
I think it's fitting. He breaks bounderies.
See Shesez... She seesez.
glad to see this guy getting recognition. He does fun stuff. I like his content and with youtube acting the way it is, it's good that a bigger channel is helping him out
Aurum I wanna see Logic host one, he has his own gaming channel on TH-cam.
Why do I feel like this guy is about to show me some secrets and new discoveries to one of my favorite games?
Blake O YES
Did you know? Clean is better than dirty and dirty is meaner than clean.
Did you know? Super Mario Sunshine, only for the Nintendo Gamecube! Rated E for everyone!
Did you know? This game it's not Jimmy Neutron
D'lo I only know this because Shesez mentioned it on the Sunshine Game Club Podcast

DiGi is awesome. Gonna give this guy a look based on the comments!
Yehs I already knew about Chuggaconroy

ARCADE THEATRE I've been following him since his Pikmin let's play
Who wants a remaster of this game on the Switch?
D Ro YEEEEEEEEES
D Ro no more ports plz
Lank at least for the virtual console
If someone exists that doesn't want that, we won't get along
Mr. Pool of Death I mean games like mk8 deluxe
"Feat. Shesez"
MY HOMIE, SHESEZ!
Super Mario Sunshine was already difficult enough if you were going for all Shines.
True Gamer Q Git gud. It's not hard at all.
True Gamer Q Speak for yourself fam.
Difficult doesn't begin to describe it.
BlockSquad1000 It is tedious at best it is not worth it especially if you know what you are getting.
And here we see someone who never even knew of the little island that had yoshi slime on it
If they did know about it they wouldn't call the 7 minute journey of getting their only to have an insanely hard level as a reward easy.
My first GameCube game. Still one of my favourite Mario games.
The best 3D Mario game.
I'm so happy that Odyssey is coming back to this style! :D
This doesn't need a remake, but a full on sequel.
jerk
Yay! I've been labelled a jerk!
5327indarkness
You misread what the person commented.
I would gladly jerk off to a fully fledged Sunshine sequel. I would finally doe happy.
Or even better 😂 have a sequal then jailbreak the switch... Get some HD mod texture packs and transfer the game via SD card 😂😂

Glad you guys had Shesez on. He definitely deserves more exposure =)
STFU Idiot!
"games like Mario Sunshine can inspire people to be more helpful to others"
That's one of the greatest things a video game could ever accomplish.
Well, there's only one thing to say - "Here we go!"
Let's do it!!!!
Dr. Miles Manners I DID UHWHAT
lt's the classic Mario catchphrase LET'S DO ITTTT!
Sam Huang OHMANGODDAM
Letsa go!
those watching this in 2020: corona mountain :I
Yes
Cosmic Power it means “crown” in Italian
I thought the same upon reading the eponymous attack in Super Mario RPG last month 🧐
No
@Ordinary Squid 2020: NeVeR o_0
So happy to see that Shesez has finally been featured on this segment! He deserves it, guy has grown a lot in the last year and REALLY put in the work to get there!
He says, Shesez. She sells sea shells by the sea shore.
Congrats on making it to DYKG, Shesez!
Sunshine's the first video game I played. So many great memories from this game...
5:20 Ahh yes, I love that game. you guys should talk about it in a future episode.
So happy this game gets the love and attention it deserves nowadays it surprised me how many people actually love sunshine now it's certainly in my opinion one of the best Mario games to date
Very underrated game.
Lucky yes
overrated* FTFY :)
Lucky It's the third Best selling Gamecube game, I won ' consider that " a very underrated game".
No, everyone loves it. It's not underrated.
How the HELL is it overrated? I wouldn't say it's underrated either, but it's not overrated at all since it's sadly most peoples least favourite 3D Mario. 64 is 500 times as overrated.
Did you know?
This game is on switch now.
Only for a bit.
@@Gadget-Walkmen 6 month is way more than a bit if you ask me
And it's a lazy emulation!
GenoCL 🗿
Damn, Shesez is making it big. Really happy to see how much his channel has grown. He deserves it.
Still waiting for the DYKG episode on the Tales series.
1:35 Ew that enemy.
3:00 Get that job Mario.
congrats Shesez! you deserve it
STFU Dumbass!!!
SRHS4EVER ok. you're right, my bad dude
The first main series Mario game with story, cutscenes, and dialogue. Why is this game hated?
Agustin Leguiza because water levels suck and the entire game is a water lvl
zombiekiller2112 You do know that Mario 64 and Galaxy 1 and 2 make you swim more than sunshine does, the setting of this game is refreshing.
because SM64 was an outstanding predecessor
I realize your joking, but there's actually rarely moments where you have to swim in the ocean in Mario Sunshine.
Because of FLOOD.
Not saying it was a torture playing with that hose, but it wasn't something to look forward in a future again.
4:12 so you're telling me. There's a code in a Mario game with a swear word. Mario is no longer family friendly
Is it a coincidence that I was subscribed to shesez before this video? I think not.
David Crapinshitz well
if you've watched a+start not so much
but yeah
it is nice seeing shesez get on dykg
How in any way do these two characters (4:51) look alike??? They have different faces, face shapes and races!
hello from 2021 I just laughed at the picture that says “corona mountain” since you know.
I think Super Mario Sunshine was the second best Mario Game of all time (so far....) Third:Super Mario 64,and First:Super Mario Oddessy.
2:59 only time mario talks!
I have many memories of just messing around on Isle Delfino. I used to rocket off the top of the big shinesprite thing and then do a 100 ft dive into the water like a professional Olympian. Awesome game to this day!
Even had his own little boundary break in this episode
happy 20th anniversary super mario sunshine!!! :3
Unpopular opinion: I think Sunshine was better than 64
I think every 3d mario game is better than the shit called 64
same
I agree. By extension, I also think Sunshine was the last REALLY good 3D Mario game, since it introduced a game-spanning gimmick, and left you in full control at all times - something subsequent 3D Mario games either didn't do at all (Super Mario 3D Land), or heavily streamlined (Galaxy 1 & 2, 3D World).
wew lad so true.
Welp, guess Super Mario 3D All-Stars dropping meant it’s the perfect time for this to pop up in my recommend lol.
Me: *Corona Mountain*
*IntEreStinG*
Corona is a Spanish/Italian cognate and means “Crown” in English.
My boy Shesez breaking new boundaries once again! Glad to see him on DYKG!
"Corona Mountain"
Super Mario Sunshine is my childhood game, I remember being in elementary school and pretending to be sick so I could stay home and play it. 2003 was a simpler time..
My Favorite Mario Game 😍❤️☀️
I must've restarted the intro seventeen times. Super Mario Sunshine definitely has the best level ending theme.
This game was my childhood ❤
I find it really refreshing that DYKG gets a different TH-camr to host an episode every time.
Best Mario game of all time.
It's amazing how many details are in games and how many get overlooked.
*TITLE SAYS ITS A VIDEO ABOUT MARIO SUNSHINE*
*STARTS BY BRINGING UP MARIO ODYSSEY*
Holy crap Shesez your channel is really going to explode now. Nice work landing this gig.
*Did you know? Super Mario Odyssey isn’t the 3D first Mario game-*
I love this game. It definitely did bring the summer season to your house.
BEST. MARIO. GAME. EVER! We need a true sequel on Switch!
Another finger on the monkey paw closes
This was one of first games I ever owned on the GameCube. So many good memories
"Corona Mountain" would be a hell of a level these days
I love Super Mario Sunshine, it's my 2nd favorite Mario game (Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door being my favorite).
My very first game :,)
I am buying this game again. I had it as a kid, but I lost/broke it. this game is very nostalgic and special to me. thanks for making this, guys!
Came for Shesez, stayed for the comments supporting him
It makes me so happy to see him in a DYKG video!
3:36 That level! Ugh flashbacks ;_; *curls into a ball whilst sobbing*
Also 99% in the JPN version of that level? Omg..
This is The Best Mario Game .Not even being sarcastic
DominicanKidHd I totally agree
Paper Mario games are great too
What if you are being sarcastic about not being sarcastic?

Actually, Bowser Jr. was first seen in the first Mario Party game for the N64.
CayenneGaramonde, that's not Bowser Jr. It's Baby Bowser.
Riverl 7827 It was gimmicky . I would rather use the spring mushroom from galaxy...
and It was glitchy, not to mention the disgusting look...

+Porkins Prime The best Sunshine levels were the ones without fludd.
So glad Shesez is here! You've officially made it man. :P
Call this channel for: SmartGaming!
Awesome video!! Glad you brought in Shesez from Boundary Break!!! :) He's awesome.
Good job on all the videos, DidYouKnowGaming!! :)

2:55 why does mario need to find a job???? he's a plumber
Best 3D Mario game
Agreed.
It's about time Shesez was on Did You Know Gaming!
You've got Shesez?! Subscribin'.
Sunshine will always be one of my favorite Mario games along with Mario 64 and Super Mario World such a great game
By far my favorite Mario game :3
Domyras I totally agree
Mah boy, Shesez is finally getting some good ass recognition.
I can't believe Shesez cursed in this video. It felt so......foreign.
corona mountain hitting different in 2021
One Of The Most Overlooked Mario Games help people become more Social.... Why can't more people play this Shit?!
Alejandro Carbonell vladduc GameCube games ARE getting expensive nowadays.
Because it has a poor reputation when compared to the other 3D Mario games, in addition to its high cost nowadays.
Oh yes, the very reliable study, with a sample size of three.
********VERY RELIABLE*********
Alejandro Carbonell I think you just answered your own question my friend
I think the point was that literally any 'friendly game where you help out NPCs' would make you more helpful to others. It's not just this game, and it doesn't make you 'more social' lol
Everyone's asking for Melee on the Switch. I'm asking, "Where's my Super Mario Sunshine HD?"
Would've been nice to hear Mario speaking English.
This is eerie. I started playing this game an hour or so before this video was put up.
My boi Shesez
the best 3d mario game by far
Super Mario Sunshine > Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
King ppp let me add to this super mario 64> super mario 3D world>Super Mario 3-D land
Welcome to episode 223 of an ongoing series where we basically take a game to explain... everything we want
This game is Highly Underrated
This is the second Mario game I've heard of to have an unused gun-like power up. I remember hearing that Nintendo wanted something like it in the original Super Mario Bros.
MY GUY SHESEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish they’d release a Super Mario Sunshine 2, I think some of the cut content from the first along with fresh ideas would be cool as hell
Shesez is movin up!
Ah the Super Mario Sunshine Multiplayer hack. Its an excellent way to spend a few hours with a friend.
Little typo in the title. You mispelled "THE OBJECTIVELY BEST GAME TO EVER EXIST" to "Super Mario Sunshine". /s
Best comment ever.
Seriously -_- fighting for first?
Favorite super Mario game ever, can’t change my mind, makes me wanna clean my room.
I still won’t, but I want to.
I’m still waiting for my Mario Sunshine 2
I've loved Super Mario Sunshine since I played it back in 2002. Such a great time :)
This game was really hard, fun, an refreshing as a kid, kept u coming back for more. There was lot of things to find and explore. All the nuzzle types were cool too.
This game was one of the many I played in my childhood and I will always love it!
