Something that really pissed me off was that none of the canvases listened to the artists. Color will not stick, none of the artists have a palm tattoo, what were they thinking?
Right, some people are too ignorant and right now I bet all the color is gone 🤦
They were probably fine with it fading... Then they can get it covered or something different or get it removed later.

“It says something when there are eight tattooists in a room and not a single one of them has their palms tattooed.” That should alert the people being tattooed to listen to the tattooists on their advice.
I have my palms tattooed and i choose quite simple designs. I have a penrose triangle (also known as an impossible object) on my right palm and i have a valknut (thats 3 intertwining triangles that comes from viking mythology) on my left palm. I had to return for a couple of touchup's where the ink didnt take.
Except if they all backed out of it there wouldn't be a show.
I agree...it's almost like the judges are setting them up for failure. Plus your sending these "canvases " as the call them off to slaughter. No respect for limitations.

It's not fair that they penalized them for the canvases ignorance and unwillingness to listen. They tried to talk them out of it they didn't listen

I would prefer a artist telling me my idea is not doable, than an artist focusing on the money and I'm left with a bad tattoo 😐 they are the experts, not the clients. Clients don't always know what will and can work and should listen to the people that do know.

I hate the canvases that refuse to listen to the artist and bitch about it. These people have been tattooing for so long. Tattoo artist make a living making YOU happy. And if they tell you that color will not stay, or ink will fall out and not last you HAVE to listen.

I'm just saying I've been rejected for tattoos because the artist wasn't comfortable with the location and knew it wouldn't come out right so I listen to them and we compromise. But this sucks because the canvases sort of hold the power because yes the artist can ask them to change their minds or whatever but most of the time they're forced to do whatever the canvas wants even if they know it won't look good or last.
Amanda Rain um, you absolutely do not HAVE to listen. If you want colour, get colour, so long as you're aware of the fact that it will fade faster, get whatever the fuck you want. That's like telling people you're "not allowed" to get an inner lip tattoo because it will eventually disappear. Their job is giving people the tattoos they want, not the tattoos they want to give.
Amanda Rain you should also realise that these clients have most likely been TOLD to be difficult, it's reality TV, not reality. People don't tend to get on like that at all in real life.
Rumer Priestly Yeah of course you can get whatever you want but I'm saying I don't like that the artists have no control at all. Artists in the real world can say no to a tattoo they know will suck. If you come into a shop and ask for-let's use your example and say an inner lip tattoo- the artist can say no because they know it will probably fade and look terrible. Then the client could come back and complain and give them a bad rep because they artist did something they know wouldn't work. We see examples of this on ink master redemption. Every one this show is a good artist but you're going to suck if you're out with someone that refuses to compromise and go with that will look best. You signed up for a free tattoo and you know what the show is all about. There is a chance it will suck. If I was getting a free tattoo I'd rather have one that wasn't quite EXACTLY what I wanted than have one that completely sucks and is faded af in a few months.

Ryan's comment is the realest one. You probably shouldn't get a palm tattoo if the room full of tattoo artists don't even have it. I don't know why they chose concepts and didn't bother to work with the artist. If someone told me that they couldn't do something I would reconsider my design.
Bethany Francia usually the reason why people don't to listen to their artists is because they know someone who can tattoo what they want and think every artist can do it and they probably saw the tattoo they want when it was brand new and thought it would always look like that

I feel like the judges should have taken the fact that some had to do color into consideration. The one guy even said he couldn't talk the guy out of it. I feel like the colored ones were doomed from the start.
If I went on this show I would 1) Get something that would be done easily within 6 hours (or whatever the time limit), 2) look at the artists portfolio asap to see what they specialize in, and 3) refuse to get tattooed if the artist's concept/stencil looks like shit.

Probably 90% of them look like they weren't even tattooed at all, that's how faded they probably are

Most of these people are applicants who know they might not get what they want or where they want they're just guaranteed a tattoo from a well known artist that would have otherwise cost them a ton.

WinterBaby01 in the real world I’ve had plenty of tattoo artists turn down my tattoo designs because of the risk they would be taking by trying to attempt it, knowing their limitations. I’m much more happy dealing with a tattoo artist who will be honest and refuse, then one who will just wing it for easy money and screw my skin up for life 🤷♀️

I'm SO glad that they are talking about how the tattoos won't hold up. I feel like there are many artists who tattoo for the 'now' and take the picture so it looks good on their instagram but either don't know or simply don't care that it won't last

@@versecontro4898 It's one thing if the tatto fades somewhat and you get it reshaded to bring it back to life and it's another thing to give someone a tattoo that will either completely fade or completely blur out or even fall out as it heals. There are artists out there charging people to the roof for shit that has the lifespan of maybe two years before you need to either cover it or laser it off.

It seriously makes me so happy that the girls are all working together. In most competitions, you'd usually see the girls jealous of one another or trying to sabotage the other girls, but here they're working together. Massive props to them.

I have zero tattoos but i love this show, i have so much respect and admiration for anyone in the service industry, especially artists!! It is insane how much knowledge and experience goes into this-you never stop learning, and yet people treat them like they're just printers with faces.

Honestly, the judges stern "no excuses" approach when it comes to getting a stubborn "canvas" can get pretty frustrating and makes it hard to enjoy the show at times. The fact you can get eliminated just because you were randomly assigned an ignorant client makes it feel more like a gameshow rather than the sanctioned no nonsense test of skill they want you to think it is. It reminds me of Mario Kart. Being a good driver helps, but ultimately the winner is going to be whichever lucky asshole got the most red shells. I get that it's reality television and dramatic things need to happen to entertain the viewers, but the judges just look stupid critiquing things that the client essentially forced the artist to do. The judges should know that being a good tattoo artist requires you to say "no" sometimes. If I was a judge and a contestant came in and said "this guy wanted a photo realitic color portrait of Harry Potter's wand on his pecker. He wouldn't compromise so I told him to fuck off." I would send that man straight to the next round.

Well I once had a needle stuck in my hand at the doctors for testings and it felt like forever before he took it out and it went pretty deep in my palm...super painful...could not imagine sitting for a tattoo on that part of my body😱😱
I ran a sewing machine through my finger and I was in total shock but it I was surprised how much it didn't hurt....not like getting your finger slammed in the car door though, ouch

I don't have any tattoo's so I'm not really one to speak. But here's the thing, you have some of the best tattooists in the world on this show, you force them to deal with an area of the body in which the tattoo *will* disappear, make them deal with extremely stubborn canvases, then completely demolish their work. If I'm being honest I'd probably get 9/10 tattoo artists telling me it's NOT a sensible choice getting a palm tattoo. This episode was based on ratings, not by their talents.
I listened to my artist, and I find it funny, not haha funny, that these people don't listen to the artist. Because, well the artist is trying to tell them what will work and not work, but they ignore it. Then these judges put the artist in awkward situations knowing the artist has a difficult task and got the nerve to criticize them. Makes me me wonder how much money does this show offer people to get shitty tattoos done because of the producers expect good ratings.
Only have 5 tattoos as of now but my palm piece has definitely been the most painful one yet, even more than my chest piece!

I just noticed they reveal beforehand which canvases the artists get! Just pay attention, the first guy says eye with teardrop, there's a shot of Ryan, the next canvas says sacred heart, a shot of Nikki, lady says tiger fish, they show a shot of Sketchy. Every single one matches up to the canvas they end up getting!
