    You need more of these videos educating and having it be a resource available to your customers. Videos showing you how to use the machines means a lot to the end user. It's habit forming brings the machinist back to your products constantly looking for future updates which turns into more sells

      John, we have more coming. With the change of the name, branding and IMTS 2022 we put them on pause. Keep an eye out, more are coming.

    Some ideas for future videos:
    - Tool breakage detection
    - Setting a custom origin point/home position or X,Y,Z
    - How to view and change parameters
    Keep it up, Mark!

      @@markchristopher5809 hi Mark. I used this instruction early this week but couldn't get the tool changer to complete the change. It alarms out when the arm moves to contact both tools. I had to recover the tool changer . Is there some programming changes to be made? I tried to mdi a tool change with no luck.
      Machine is 2021 dnm5700l with oimf+

    Can you go into more detail about what some of the Fanuc control options are? I have seen the PDF of the various options available but no description of what they are or if they are important. Perhaps you might talk about some of the more popular ones and show how they are used or why they are desirable. Charles

      Thanks for the suggestion Charles. I will add it the growing list of video suggestions. I will check with our sales team and see which options are popular on mills vs. lathes and see if we can do a video in the future to cover some of those.

    A good note to add is that you should write down the Tool numbers of the pockets that you change to "T0000" that way in the future its easy to restore the numbers without looking for your unused tools. it takes a long time to find your missing tool number on a machine with a 120 tool magazine.

    Is there a way similar to this to set a tool for a slow tool change without having to modify my post or program when I want to do this.
    Like so my program will read tool and change command but then automatically run a slow change for both the input and output but just for specific T numbers?

    When designating a large tool in a 196 tool matrix, what is the L1-L4 designating? It appears to be the 4 different size classes and the possible placement in the racks relating to the 4 size classes, but is L1 the smallest and L4 the largest?

    • @markchristopher5809
      @markchristopher5809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick, L1 is the smallest and L4 is the largest. Obviously, to get to sizes 2-4 you have to block out the corresponding pots and then the control will allow you to designate those tools with a value of 2-4. You will also notice that this automatically causes the machine to conduct a slow tool change when that large / heavy tool is called.

    I walked trough this video step by step. and it still puts the tools away random. is there something i'm going wrong? or is there more steps involed that i'm missing? I was hoping to get this to work. It never shows you doing the actual tool changes on this video. Is there a way to show that? Just trying to understand if im doing something wrong. Also, it seem slike the speed of the tool change is still the same i would like to slow it down. Trying to use a 5" shell mill in my DNM 5700.

    • @markchristopher5809
      @markchristopher5809 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just want to slow the tool change down, try using M112 on the line before your M6. if you want to put it back to regular (fast speed) command a M113 after you have put the heavy tool back in. Older DNM's don't have this ability so depending on your model, it may or may not work. Also, if you have designated your large tools, make sure to leave Tool Management On. You will see it in the upper left of the the screen. See example at 6:07 in this video.

    You would remove the big diameter tool (T10) from the spindle and make control think you placed it back in the atc when turning off the large designation?
    Why do you have to turn off tool management? What would happen if you left TM on but didn't have a big diameter tool in the ATC?

    • @markchristopher5809
      @markchristopher5809 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. Yes. You would remove the large tool from the spindle because when you turn off Tool Management and reassign Tool 9 and Tool 11, it is now random access and is using those tool pots. So you don't want that tool in there to crash into tool that could be put in the adjacent pots.
      2. Think of Tool Management as turning on a check switch. Let's say you forgot to clear out pot #9 on the tool management page. When you try and do a tool change for Tool 10, because Tool Management is on, it's going to throw an alarm PS5360 "Tool Interference Check Error" and not execute the tool change. Otherwise with Tool Management Off, it becomes a random access tool changer and ignores any Large Tool designation.
      3. Nothing would happen if you left it on. Essentially that "check switch" would be checking for nothing.
      Great questions!

  • @davidbrewer8309

    Ok but how do you disable random access carosel, because it absolutely sucks. If you do frequent setups with standard tooling is more of a headache and a pain to sift through 50 tools.

    • @markchristopher5809
      @markchristopher5809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      David, all of our machines are random access carousels and you cannot disable it. You can do a double tool change to keep a tool assigned to a certain pot. Help me understand your frustration of sifting through 50 tools? Because if I call Tool 5 it comes to the spindle. If I call tool 10 it comes to the spindle. Just trying to understand your scenario that makes it frustrating.

    • @davidbrewer8309
      @davidbrewer8309 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markchristopher5809 i do multiple setups per day. Right now we're trying to figure out a standard tool package that stays in the carousel so we can cut down setup times.
      Long story short we have 1700 programs that would have to all be updated with a new tool number for a standard package...or remove the tool pre call for each program. Right now we use a numbering system to identify the tool in the carousel, but then change it to match that specific program when in use.
      Currently I'm running a NHP8000 with a matrix tool carousel (total junk btw). It is not random access and is constantly alarming out.
      It would be nice in the future if Doosan could somehow incorporate a random access disable via parameters. Thats all, thanks

    I just laughed at our vertical operator bc of his random tool carousel. The horizontals I use don't have this encumbrance of chasing your tools around the carousel 😂
