I followed your no touch stuff last year. It’s by far the best method. I used to be one of those automate everything. Check daily and screw with things the way that I and most on the internet think you do. It’s so much better.
I still needed to tweak it a little only because of where I live depending on the season but that’s easy stuff to play around with.
Yeah me too. I have better results. Seems like the less you mess with it the better.
Leave your house for a couple of days just as pins are barely visible and they will show up . The mushrooms love to surprise us to play hide and seek so play along. In nature the grass allows them to hide almost in plain sight until they become to big to hide any longer and they say here I am look at how many spores I can eject and how far I can spread myself in the wild wide open spaces of the prairies before returning to the confines of the subterranean underworld to gather and plan the next adventure into the light.
Couldn’t agree more. Got a fully automated Martha tent last month and already tired of it. I had to FAFO that everything these guys were saying about simplicity was spot on. 🤦🏻♂️
That's the only way we ever did it years ago, but with poly fill instead of patches and 56-quart non-gasketed tubs. Worked beautifully.
I follow your tech religiously ever since I found it a couple years back. I preach it to all of my friends who are interested in getting it and growing. Keep up the incredible work!
I've been researching different teks on building monotubs the last month and it started getting overwhelming. I love how simple, yet effective yours is. I'm going to build my tubs later today. So excited. Thanks so much for this video!
update?
@@SpencNar I've had success with these! I used a 1 1/2" hole saw bit for my 20 and 32 quart tubs. I only drilled one hole on the longer sides of the tub and it's working out okay. 👍🏼
@@CraftyDollYou literally just saved me!!!! I can’t tell you how freaking much I’ve researched this new hobby of mine. Bought everything, prepped an area in my house which took the longest because old home, literally anything I could afford that I needed- I bought! From reading shroomery website to watching every tek available, I knew I wanted to do this tek because I already had the 20qt blue latch lid containers. I’ve hesitated to even start inoculating grain, which has probably now sat in the fridge to long🤦♀️. All because I couldn’t find anything on where to drill my FAE holes on the 20qt box. I’m too limited on money to screw entirely everything up! You just don’t know how much help something as simple as your comment not only answered my question, but also put a smile on my face! Thank you for sharing the knowledge! If you happen to see this comment and don’t mind me asking a question, I was wondering how you covered your holes? If you used the stick on filters, do you think the micro-pore tape would work the same? I do plan on buying some of the filters later on down the road. I lost my sister 2 weeks ago so all my hobby money has been shifted to help her kids pay everything. I do have some polyfill also, if that’s something that you think would work better? I’m just so freaking thankful I didn’t start drilling 3 inch holes all around the boxes. I had a feeling that 1-1/2 inch would be better suited for that size box, but I also know there are many other factors to consider like temp, humidity and all that. I figure the less I don’t the box, the less I’ll mess with it, because I can get to obsessive with my plants. It’s just really hard to not overdo it with such a degree of varying information out there. Thanks again and I’m writing your measurements down now! Stay blessed mush-doll!❤🍄
Appreciate the update! I’ve been running your no touch for a couple months now and it’s been working great!
How long did it take after full colonization to see a pin set?
Been following since the beginning! Been using your technique with a couple adjustments successfully now for a while. Thanks my dude! Keep doin your thing!
this is what got me off the ground!! glad to see it come through again with an update!!
Thank you for taking the time to help others. Much appreciated
I’m with you no fanning or misting at all.
Micro pose is a company that cares about the realistic needs of there costumers from what I can see. Build something that people need that doesn’t exist and you will be successful. Perhaps some cultivars need more fae or gas ex. I think there is something to gain from every tec or from every one whom has been blessed with this hobby. We all interpret the various tecs differently and teach them differently so I think it’s up to us to sort through them with patience and diligently because that’s exactly where the jewels of mycology lay.
Man, I freaked when you were no longer in my saved playlists. Glad you are out there still. I appreciate your techniques. I wish I would have saved your old vids instead of relying on the cloud to be forever. Where is your substrate vid? Desperate to get some of your old info back.
Your videos are what first got me into all this. Thanks for the inspiration! Mush Love! ⚛️
Hey I have one of those exact gasket tubs going right now, but have normally went with the 20 Qt gasket tubs and got huge harvests out of the 20's but those were different genetics so we'll see how this one turns out. Glad to see you're still coming out with stuff
What was your ratio for the 20qt
@@philipdennis5020 1 qt spawn, and just mixed in enough sub to make it to the 3-3.5 inch mark. You can't go wrong. Those gasket tubs ROCK! I'm not doing it anymore but I can't recommend them enough
Hi, what was the internal height of your 20Qt tubs? I've got some 30Qt tubs, the only ones i could find but have a feeling they are too shallow... Thanks.
Please keep making videos!! Maybe on low budget monotubs and techniques.
Thank you I was lost when your old videos were deleted
I had to do some restructuring. I had made mistakes on old content and I didn’t want to leave up bad info. Thank you for the patience.
Omg thanks for making it easier
I tried both two and three 1" holes on the long side with two on the short side and I noticed no difference. It works out great either way.
Love your work bro ❤
The flushes I get from multispore with this tek are 2x bigger than flushes I would get with 4th Gen agar grows in unmodified tubs. I didn't realize how important surface conditions are compared to lucking out with genetics. Grateful that my greedy New England walmart sells these tubs for $9. Thanks for everything.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge 🙌🏼🔥✨⭐
I got 8 of these guys set up exactly this way and they rock!
Like I say. Keep it simple stupid. Don’t get in the mushrooms way. They will do what they do if you let them!
The KISS tek!
Yup. I wasted over a thousand dollars to figure out how to make things cheap, simple, and successful. I tried every method. That’s why most of my old videos are deleted. I want others to have success on the first try and not get deterred
always been my favorite way..cheers
very nice set-up.
Hey thanks !!
I followed this but put micropore tape over the holes and I have pins everywhere! Lol I’ll keep you posted on how they turn out
Lasko makes a 200w space heater and Amazon basics has a 500w, both under $25. Good options for this application.
I'm looking to make EZ Dials, I'm making some 32qrts and 54 qrts today. Thanks PastyWhyte 🤘🏽
Since it’s been so cold here in Southern / Northern California lately. I’ve been using a heating pad under my spawn jars. They’ve been doing pretty well very aggressive strain I acquired. I have some towels in between so it’s not in direct contact or to hot for the jars.
Same idea I have for my growth ! Waiting on my spores !
An insulated cooler with a heating pad inside it separated by a towel works great if it's on a temp controller. Basically a little lab incubator.
It's better than just sitting on a heating pad becasue otherwise you end up with the bottom of the jar hot (and full of bacteria) and the top of the jar not warm at all.
New sub, and thank you!
awesome name you came up with funguy - fungi nice
This is the only method I've used since seeing your video a while back. So far no contam in any no touch tub.
I love your content. I've been following your technique for 2 years now. you're the most reliable mushroom guru online!
Hi! How much spawn and substrate do you use for these tubs? I used the same 2 qt spawn and 4 qt substrate. I only made one hole (1 inch), remembered wrong. I hope it still fine or shall I add another hole although it’s “going” already?
Been using this method since your original video. Still works great! Just need to dial in your FAE as far as hole size for your local conditions. Yeah I’ve never used a fan. And I’m in a hot area so I don’t need a heater.
What do ya do if ya have moisture on all walls of tub but not on your substrate? Does it need anything or is that how it supposed to look? I have had full colonization but don’t see a pin set yet. Thanks
@@amglife7386 As long as your substrate was prepped to field capacity you’re fine. I’ve found that whole “their needs to be water beads on the substrate” thing to not make a difference. Plus you’ll have a higher chance of contamination if you have too much moisture on the actual substrate. What strain is it? Some take longer than others to start pinning.
Thats good you need water evaporating off the surface to initiate pins. @@amglife7386
Do you see any practical application for automation or computer vision in growing at all, particularly at larger scales? Or does it seems like no matter the scale this would continue to be the best method?
Do you know what size micron filter those are? I’ve read only the .2 micron filters are effective at keeping out contamination as the P. Cubensis mushrooms are more susceptible to being contaminated.
Do you run these with filters during colonization or have the holes covered then switch to filters?
Twisted tree has the best substrate for the best price😎
I need a link to the filters you used
Hell ya looks good
I run my jars at 84 they grow crazy . When they get under 80 it's so slow
What temp for fruiting condition
I have the heating mat down in my insulated cooler as an incubator with cardboard on top of that and my jars sitting on the cardboard. My seed mat somehow got set higher then I usually have it at(85F) and after a few days of that temp, the bottoms of all 18 of my jars a half inch up were dried out. 5 of them caught contamination right at the bottom. 6 are doing nothing at all 16 days later, and 7 of them are already done colonizing. Lol you can see a visible color diff where it dried out the grains. Just a warning, the mat can get wonky and mess EVERYTHING up.
Do the wholes need to be sealed during colonization? Or do you just run the filters from start to finish?
how do you rehydrate the cakes from those tubs? can you soak them in there or does that hurt the filters?
Thanks for vid. How do you rehydrate for a second flush?
I do this method & find that dunking the substrate brick helps promote more growth
do you think habing a plug in heater will be enough warmth??
i live in an rv lol.... foraged some mycelium wavy cap.. doin it different. and using substrate from where i found em, and gna collect wood chips then set up.
do ya think i need to keep it warm warm?
in canada dont know what 78 ferenheight is. plz and thank you
good job friend
Do you increase your lighting when its time for Fruiting or that is enough light for them?
how many pounds of bulk/spawn do you use for these?
Question if I cut a 2 inch hole will the filters cover the hole?
So are you going spawn to bulk with this exact setup and closing? Also are you only using field capacity or also misting sides and top before closing?
Spawn to bulk. Misting is not necessary if you are at field capacity with your sub.
What do you use for a substrate?
does this work for grourmet mushrooms like lionsmane or oyster?
Great content. How many quarts on the containers? Ive been at this since 96 LOL!
32qt
What temp and humidity are you running in your closet?
I like what you are doing. I am just beginning. I have two 5lb bags that i just broke up after 30% colonization. Waiting for full mycelum coverage. Do you feel i could put my bags in a tub like yours for fruting? My closet space is about the same as yours, maybe less space. If i make holes like you have done will i need a fan? My temp stays around 75-78°. Perparing for the next step. Any guidence would be appreciated.
Shotgun fruiting chamber for bags
My fav vid of urs yeeuur
Nice to meet you there, thanks for the information!
I have this exact tub and I am struggling with it drying out during fruiting. Am I supposed to just latch this lid on and let the filters do the work? I have the lid flipped right now. I'm starting to think my head is flipped..
Yes leave lid on don’t flip. That’s the whole point of the filters😊
Be sure the substrate is at field capacity and leave that lid on
for this tek do they need to have that seal lining on the lid? the ones i bought did but they’re a bit more pricy, and if that’s not necessary for the grow i’m just gonna take them back and get some cheaper ones
They don’t need the seal lining
On this Yeti tub....behind that is written Enigmas and MHRB...so you grew shrooms on mimosa bark?
I attempted. They contaminated
Whats up with the "MHRB" label next to enigma?
You growing on mimosa bark?
Hi. How do you introduce fruiting conditions? Thanks for a good, inspirational video. Kind regards, and thanks in advance.
He's in fruiting conditions in the video. Those filters are allowing fresh air exchange. He uses those instead of micropore.
Thank you
Are you using a clear liner? Wouldnt that still cause side pinning or does the liner shrink with it and reduce those odds?
Pinning is due to microclimate, not color. The liner will shrink with the cake.
MHRB hey, I see you..
I ordered the 2 inch filters but I drilled 2 1/8 inch holes. Filters are arriving tomorrow, will they fit? Or should I just go ahead and order the 3 inchers?
They are oversized. It’ll be close but they should work.
Where do I get those filters???
Hello, first timer here. Do you plug the holes until you see pinning then add the microppose or do you start off with the microppose filter from the start?
I start with the filter uncovered
@@FunGuyFruits as in you leave the holes open?
Do you covers up the venting holes when you first put the substrate and spawn in the tubs?
Im not an expert but thats what im oing currently i basically cleaned a trash bag with alcohol and taped it all the way arpund over the holes so its easy to take off yet still sanitized
Yes. But some growers put their tubs straight into fruiting conditions at the time they mix to bulk. That's what he did here.
Pretty sure you used to automate the lights as well to match daytime and night time. Now you have it on 24/7? Does it make no difference?
I used to. I don’t see a difference
Bro I wish I would of found u months ago...I built this nice lab and tent setup and I'm glad I did but damn man this the way....
I started with growing abuncha herb so I've always been the automate everything spend a bunch on setup type of guy and mush growing seems to be leave it be and let it live
I did it all the complicated and expensive ways before I got here. I had the Martha, fans, timers, humidifier, raspberry pi.
@@FunGuyFruits yup same bro now I'm currently in Walmart buying 15 totes lol

Are These Patches For One Grow Only ? Do They Need Replaced After First Flush Thanks Very Much
They last forever.
Do you go straight to fruiting conditions during colonization?
Sure do
No tub liner, doesn't the mycelium eat or grow into the plastic?
what kinda of petri dish is that
what temp is your room at?
Off topic but what do you recommend for dehydrator times and temps?
I like the homdox 8 tray dehydrator. Between 95-120. Time is just however long it takes.
So you don’t crack the gasket lids at all for fruiting?
Leave the lid on and let it alone
Where do I get the round filters you have on the totes?
Microppose.com. Code funguyfruits gets 10% off
How much grain and substrate?
The temp controller you list for Amazon is no longer available.
I opened my tub will it be ruined?
So yknow when you've mixed the substrate and spawn, do you leave in dark conditions or what ?
Ambient room light is OK for any stage of growth.
Are you still using the coir, verm, gyp mix from your older video? Appreciate all of your content ✌🏻
Right now dinosoil because I’m lazy
@@FunGuyFruits Right on.
@@FunGuyFruits Do you find that the H2O content, 2 cups, of the CVG recipe still holds true? I find it to be a little dry. Everyone has their own way and you obviously know what you’re doing. Just wondering if you had tweaked it all. Also, how can I send you funds for all of the content? Appreciate you 🙏🏻
I prefer a more wet substrate. You can donate on Patreon or buy swabs from me on IG
How do you put into fruiting like this?
Technically he's in fruiting conditions in the video. Those filters are allowing fresh air exchange. No misting, no fanning. Leave that lid on and let it be.
Im definitely trying this, ive been wasting money on bags and overly checking them and just plan doing to much lol whats your affiliates by chhance?
Do you recommend using a base of perlite to retain more humidity? I don't know if that would be good or not because of its toxicity
Perlite is not toxic and is used in certain grows but not in a mono tub like this. Bad idea actually. The moisture/humidity is generated by having the substrate at the proper field capacity.
@@bybassman1842 Got it, tanks
Do you have microposse filters applied when initially mixing spawn and substrate? Or do you cover holes for colonizing and then place microposse filters for fruiting?
Cover holes for colonization for 7 to 14 days, then cover holes with polyfill or a micropose filter patch when fruiting.
@@williamj1813Ive heard that you dont need to tape the holes during colonization and you can just keep the micropore tape on the whole time.
I was hoping funguy would answer this also
I never cover them.
It colonizes fastest with the vents open and the tub in a dark place. Then add light once colonized.
Neglect tek is best tek
Why not patch the lid as the high exchange port?
So I can stack them
Can the filters be re used over and over will they become unstuck during cleaning of the tubs
They have lasted me for years and years
I noticed your not using liner's anymore in your tubs
How has that been for you??
I always been worried about side or bottom pins
The big tubs have liners they are just clear. In my test grows in shoeboxes no liner. I’ve started spraying the tops of my sub when I make the tubs. I want all the water on top to direct the energy there
Hey, have the same tub as you and I was wondering if you used the filters during the initial colonization or if you covered the holes with tape or something.
Leave the light on all the time? Even during g fruiting?
Light is not a requirement for growth or fruiting. Ambient room light is sufficient. No fancy light setups or schedules.
Hi, i have a question, how important is it to have gasketed lids? i cant seem to find decent ones in my country and importing these particular ones is going to cost a fair bit, i'm thinking of getting some regular ones and attempting to fit a gasket onto them myself but would like to know how important this feature is first to the no touch method since i really love the concept of this for obvious reasons :) thanks for all your wonderful videos :)
A gasketed lid is not essential. Just get a tub with the matching lid.
It's pretty important since if you don't have a gasketed lid the air will just flow under the lid and not through the filters. It will dry out sooner. That said, you can use regular tubs unmodified, which is worth a shot. If there isn't enough airflow just flip the lids over and if thats not enough twist them a little
How much Spawn Grain and Substrate should I add for each of these 32 qt tubs?
I ended up adding 2 pounds of spawn and 4 pounds of substrate which gave me about 3 inches of bulk spawn.
I'm having an issue, how I. Earth are you guys attaching the filters. My super glue seems to not be functioning very well.
Maybe peel the plastic off the back of the filter.
If it works don't overcomplicate it. I see you do PC Tek what do you think about rye over popcorn?
I have to try rye again. I still have other grain I need to use up.
Will this method work with 80 qt bins?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t. Maybe two holes per long side
Thanks man, great tek. “Some people” are doing longer P.E. grows and live in dry climates so “they” did feel the need to mist. Maybe not, but it looked a little dry. Did you develop this in a dry climate or somewhere with ambient humidity?
It’s cold where I’m at. My house is around 38% humidity
Do you tape (seal) holes at the beginning or do you mix the spawn and substrate with the microppose already on?
Do you know what the humidity is in that room? I'm in a dryer climate and wondering how well this would work for me. Also what do you do for second or third flushes?
Now it’s warming up it’s about 40%
Flushes are like any other tub
@@FunGuyFruits thanks. Im gonna try it out and see how it goes.
@@FunGuyFruits so you take out the cake and soak it ?
I'm about to order from micropose with ur coupon so I get the 2inch not the 3inch patches? And 1 patch is fine no need for 2 on the long side?
Yeah 2” one per side
@@FunGuyFruits thanks buddy...u always get back and I appreciate that I got 6 of these running right now and a few regular tubs with perlite super stoked to see how these do I'm still tryin to dial in a tent to work good I shoild of started with tubs but neaays sorry for rambling on I do appreciate everything tho my guy...
@@FunGuyFruits update my tent is pinning and currently got tubs and all in ones goin too man I love this stuff hahaha...I had to tell someone I was so excited to get the Martha starting to be dialed in
Flavorlabdabs sent me. sub is in.
Do you just transfer grain spawn straight to the tubs with the substrate and filters? Ive seen some designs where they plug the filter holes while its still spawn for bacterial protection.
Correct
but what if that sub dries out? how will the mushroom grow without water?
You ensure that the sub doesn't dry out by having it at least 3" thick and at field capacity. After a flush, you can rehydrate the cake by dunking it in water for 12-24 hrs to initiate another flush.
