  • Welcome back guys and gals! This week we have a cool update to share with you! A lot is happening around the shop lately, but during some of the chaos a viewer named Frank reached out to us after our previous video. We had asked for input on how to streamline the design for the Star Ornament and Keyholder, in order to make the process cheaper and easier. So, Frank (a product designer with decades of experience) sent us his sketches on how to make the design much better! We were blown away with the results, and this video shows that experience truly does matter!
    Also of importance, this is our last day with our summer intern Arden. We were so lucky to have her in the shop the past few months, and we're happy to perfect one of her ideas in the last video we have with her! If we are lucky maybe she'll come back to be in a future video! Let us know what you thought of these design improvements in the comments!
    Thanks for watching!

    Where is Arden now, 3 years after she started her junior year?
    Beautiful prototype and ezcellent production refinements! Arden was lucky to land an internship that gave her leeway to implement her skills and ideas tangibly.

    Very cool video in many ways. Looks like Arden is off to a great start with her interests in Industrial design. Lots of opportunity out there for someone like her.

    Firstly great work Arden, it was nice to following along on the whole design process with you all. I’m bet you had fun on your internship there and I’m sure you have a bright future ahead of you in design. Secondly to Tay, I was wondering do you ever think about cutting other items in the waste prices at the same time? Like the small waste sections in the star, is there enough room to cut small LAS keyrings or cut little stars with a hole in one point (and I’m not sure if the plasma can do it, but not cut all the way through and just do relief cuts in the smaller stars to make in look like the big one) then just clean and paint or leave it metal with a bit of clear coat on. Quick little items to sell on your site. I just imagine you must have metal off cuts that are just to small to balance on the water table and it would be easier to cut out when it’s part of a bigger piece. I hope that all makes sense.
    Thanks again to all of you, the videos are great and the hard work you all put in really shows

    Awseome work. This can sometimes be referred to as "digital joints". You can google the term and find more ways to incorporate.

    Tay: That machine costs a lot less per hour than I do.
    Also Tay: Proceeds to watch the plasma cutter the entire time

    Im really looking into buying a table myself, is it possible to create complicated designs to cut out?.... such as an nfl team logo? Houston Texans

    • @LiftArcStudios
      @LiftArcStudios  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FOR SURE, there is seemingly no limit to the complexitiy of the design. The only limits are physical ones. Plasma (at least with typical nozzles) can only cut down to a certain level of precision and intricacy without just melting the metal away. But if the sign is rather large, this issue virtually doesnt exist. Cheers! - Tay

    So how do I get ahold of Frank? I’ve got a design I’d like him to look over.
