Thank you so much for doing the maintenance and including the impeller replacement. I now know how to do my 2024 25hp Tohatsu Service Maintenance and can save $500-600 that shops charge to do this.

@@CopperBarnHomestead you did a good job for someone who hasn't worked on outboards much.- they're pretty simple engines, which makes them reasonable for the home mechanic to maintain. once they're out of warranty.

The oil drain plug is 16 mm, correct? I am seeing some oil slicks after the marina did a 10 hour break-in oil change. I want to make sure the nut is tight.

@@eugenezhulik2117 definitely something to check into. I know that is what I found when I wanted to add electric start to a 14hp kohler engine. Thanks for watching and your comment. Have a great day and be safe!
Thanks for watching and your comment. I have been really happy with the boat and motor since getting it. I haven’t heard of any problems but definitely recommend looking at some other videos to see if anyone else has had issues. As far as buying used I just look at overall condition, try to check oil and as much as the seller will let you poke around. I couldn’t run this when I bought it but for a few seconds because there was no water available to cool it. If you can see it on the water and take a short ride would be the best but without that it’s always a risk. For me the risk is usually worth the money saved vs buying new. Good luck and thanks again for watching and commenting. Have a great day and be safe!
Thank you for watching and your comment. You might have a different model than mine but that plug absolutely is the water flush port, it has a female hose thread and I have flushed water through it many times. The oil drain on my motor is on the opposite side. I do appreciate you commenting because I definitely could make a mistake or say the incorrect thing I’m completely human. In this case on this motor the information is correct. As always check your manual before performing any service to your motor! Thanks again, have a great day and be safe!
Hey, thanks for watching and your comment. Sorry, I don’t have that information. I found the impeller and other supplies on Amazon. Have a great day and be safe!
Hmm.... am I missing something here? If you spin the propellar clock-wise as you did then the impeller shaft will go anti-clock-wise since there are cog-wheels on the ends of the shafts that makes up the 90 degree "junction" beween impeller shaft and propeller shaft. If I remember correct the shaft that is going up through the water pump is supposed to turn clock-wise seen from above. You should mount the impeller so the impeller blades are put in a dragging configuration. You got the impeller blades to turn in a "push" configuration which is wrong.
Thanks for watching and your comment. I will have to look at it again to be sure. Thanks for the explanation and advice, will definitely check it out. I did function test it and it pumps water good but possibly could be backwards I guess. Have a great day and be safe!
Just checked again, everything I find says turn driveshaft clockwise. I will keep watching to be sure it’s pumping but won’t see which way it’s dragging vs pushing in housing until the next service unless it stops pumping water. Thanks again, have a great day and be safe!
@@CopperBarnHomestead Thank you. I'm eager to hear what you find out. I've just started to watch Tohatsu 20hk service videos since I'm planning to buy a used 15ft aluminium boat with trailer and this outboard motor and was just wondering how to service it. I just watched another yt video before your video and he said if you look from above then the drive shaft (which is the impeller shaft) should turn clock-wise. But if you turn the propellar clock-wise (seen from the side that was faced towards you) then the drive-shaft will turn anti clock-wise (I believe...)(?). I'm not 100% sure - but I think It will turn the other direction since there must be cogs or something that transfers the force from the drive shaft to the propellar shaft?
