Maybe this is why so many Honda's still drive with 300k on the odometer...

My 05 Honda I just got was owned by ,70 year olds. It smoked a bit on start up and ran a bit rough, after some hard driving and premium it is very noticeably smoother quieter and faster after some love

Italian Tune Up is basicly true... I hav 2 identical scooters, 1 only driving it mild and the other one i always driving it WideOpenThrottle 70% of the time. The last one has better throttle response, its very noticeable even my friend say so.

This is why I liked having a 1 litre engine as 90 mph on an empty motorway stretch was a decent "zone 3". I suppose you could shift into lower gears than you need or tow a small parachute to create load if your car is more powerful. Or wait till the Autobahn's empty in Germany and cruise at 180.

I have a friend that could do with an Italian tune up. He just sits on the sofa and smokes, time to hoof it up 50 flights of stairs.

Also, what's the fun in NOT burning fuel in a motor vehicle?

Floor it for how long? Should I drive at 5k rpm for 20 mins or just a quick sprint to red line and then back to normal 2k rpm? Thanks

If your car has been neglected for a while then you want to get out on and drive it like you stole it, not less than 2k under the redline for a couple minutes so you can get that exhaust manifold/turbo nice and hot, to burn off all the carbon deposits. I'd recommend using some fuel additive while doing this like seafoam or liqui moly.
If your engine is clean but you want to keep it that way then just a quick sprint to redline 1-2 times a month is recommended. Just floor it off a red light or something.
My wife had a small engine turbodiesel car and she basically only drove it inside the city. Keep in mind this is Europe so cities are tight with a lot of traffic. We also had a bigger car for the highway and stuff so the little car never really got to breathe. It idled a lot in traffic jams, a lot of low range driving (under 2k), and pretty much never getting to temp.
After 2 years, the carbon buildup was so severe that car was basically not driveable, it was unresponsive to gas and would take ages to accelerate. I used liqui moly fuel additive and floored the car for 15 minutes straight on the Autobahn, and after that it was like new.

I've seen other people recommend 3k rpm or above at 70mph for 20 minutes. I haven't seen them speak about after this is done, but I suspect you should drive for another 20 min or so - not as hard - so the engine (specifically the intake valve area for people with a GDI like me) cools. I've read and seen on multiple sources that if the engine temp is below 190 Celsius or above 350, carbon won't build up as much. If you don't have a GDI system and have the previous port injection system, I'm not sure if this would apply to you. Oh, and make sure to change your oil with the new API SP / ILSAC GF-6 I've heard marvelous reviews from mechanics I trust about Castrol EDGE. I use the high mileage full synthetic 5w-20 for my 2013 Kia Optima
